@@guilhermedaselva4046 Close. Expectations are what leads to disappointment. Because of our blindness to see the world as it is. Instead we see the promises we give to ourselves and none other can fulfill. This disappointment leads to frustration which we cannot accept that we are it's makers. And as it burns we grow resentful of those who forced us to endure this pain. Who failed our expectations. We throw burning coals to hurt the others only to burn ourselves in the process. And this is the anger.
@@poncho_x4410 Yup. But the thing is I've been following Black Metal and extreme music in general since the 90's. Mgla is a great band, to be sure. But they haven't reinvented the wheel of extreme music, so to speak. It's just that they're one of the few bands these days to release material whose quality reminds us of the good old days. But that's all there is to it. They're really good, but certainly not the best thing since sliced bread. Lol. It's just that people are not really used to high quality Black Metal these days.
Blessed be a xylophone player who became one of the greatest black metal drummers ever. And his cymbals, which teach us to find beautiful patterns in the maelstrom
The level of the fucking lyrics on this record is beyond any transcendence... I've listened to a thousand metal bands and nothing pierces my soul like this - it's a shame only a few people get to truly understand this. Such an underrated band.
The lyrics are pretty dark, standard fair for black metal. The difference is he's actually singing notes along with the melody. Whereas other vocalist sound like they're narrating a scene.
And here I am, 4 years later, still amazed about how good the lyrics are. So much symbolic, so many messages. So much is told in mere 8 minutes of a single song. Life itself is indeed an exercise in futility. Everything we are comes from within and most of it is bad, really bad.
Blessed be the misery, the filth, the discord and the horror Blessed be the lies, the guilt, the fear, the woe and the betrayal For these ones didn't need any outside source For these ones come from within
And here it is, Grown from within, An invincible stronghold, Adorned with death! A suit of shining armour, replaced the skin And calligraphed sins, are as coat of arms!
Not a black metal fan, however I stumbled across this band and have to say this song absolutely froze me to the spot. The chilling and despair of the melody and lyrics are jaw dropping. Pure nihilism, entwined with hate, vitriol and aggression. Without using to much hyperbole, but this song seemed to let something dark and foreboding slither in the dark parts of my psyche, I didn’t even realise was there. Horrifying yet exhilarating.
What these guys did was put melody ,harmony and composition of the song over just having strict black metal elements. So yeah, it jams like a symphony of war hammers crushing the undead.
@@alexvermaak1759 - I dont think so, the vocals with many other bands are not in melody with the music. Often sounds like an evil demon speech. Here the singing is with the melody and in tune, like a rock song.
I also find it a very mature black metal. How it's supposed to be. No clown stuff or edgelord satanas. Just pure emotions and art coming straight from the heart and soul. This music and especially MGŁA illustrates the loss of faith, nihilism, despair and aggression and lifelong disappointment.
This lyrical style, which fousses on despair, negative emotions and evils that are harder to comprehend and more intrinsic in nature is very refreshing, compared to the pure satanic themes that are much to common in the black metal scene. Of course, satanic themes are not bad per se, and are also fitting for black metal, but to be honest, they are overused, and also often done in a lazy, uncreative way, which relies just on repeating the same keywords and cliches over and over.
Yeah for real. I'm already getting sick of bands that being like: OH LOOK BABY WE ARE THE SATANISTS! SATAN MY LORD I AM YOUR CHILD. On the background of these bands Mgla is a pure jem
I mean, those lyrics are really only common in raw black bands that are going for that whole 90s, 2nd wave black metal gimmick, a lot of newer black metal bands deal with way more than just satanism when it comes to lyrics. Panopticon, Xasthur, Shining, Peste Noire, Midnight Odyssey, just to name a few, deal with society, depression, drugs, nature, countryside life, space etc. See how much variety there is? And these are the more known bands, I didn't even want to start with underground stuff. If you only listen to black metal that deals with boring satanist lyrics, I suggest you search a bit deeper lol
Lyrics from Metallum: Blessed be the tailors The masks are cut to fit Blessed be the woodworkers The crosses and the gallows Blessed be the forgers of iron And the spikes and the barbwire Blessed be the stone cutters It took a quarry to bury the dreams Blessed be the misery, the filth, the discord and the horror Blessed be the lies, the guilt, the fear, the woe and the betrayal For these ones didn't need any outside source For these ones come from within And here it is Grown from within An invincible stronghold Adorned with death A suit of shining armour Replaced the skin And calligraphed sins Are as coat of arms Hollow
Mature and serious. Marvelously done, fine piece of black metal art. Hail polish black metal, hail Mgła, don't stop being faceless example for other artists.
I've been a black metal fan and musician for over 25 years... This song is so simply written, and yet one of the most powerful songs that I've ever heard or written in my life. A phenomenal example of less is more. And the drumming is not from this world.
I'm a metal fan since the early 2000s, when I was a teenager. I started with Nu Metal, moved on to Heavy Metal, on to Thrash Metal, then Metalcore, Deathcore, and Death Metal, but I never liked Black Metal. This band, and this song specifically, opened my mind to Black Metal. I decided to give it a chance, and now I enjoy dozens of Black Metal bands. But these guys, and this album specifically, and this song in particular, will always be my favorite. It's a masterpiece.
I find these men not only Extremely talented. But I find them intelligent as well. I mean read these lyrics. This is wisdom put into lyric unlike I personally have ever heard. Stoicism, Nihilism, Pessimism. A crystal clear view behind the veil of all this allusion and distraction. meant to keep humans from reaching, knowing , understanding the conclusions heard here. Great love and respect from America. Thank you for this unflinching ,brave eye to eye stare with existence. Brilliant!
And calligraphed sins Are as a coat of arms Hollow Phenomenal album from beginning to end. I still listen to it in its entirety almost every day. Can't wait to hear what M and Darkside create next.
Literally found this band today. Not a fan of black metal but damn these dudes are awesome, different, brutal and atmospheric. Great stuff, my favorite song right here so far.
Strange thing about this album is even after 2 year of listening its getting better and better. At every single time it somehow make me appreciate even more. I just need more of it.
Great music and great lyrics. Not that ordinary "horror, satan, blood, evil, demons...." shit, but real lyrics with meaning. And this picture fits so perfectly with whole atmosphere of music. Absolute perfection!
Well nothing, there are just way too many bands who base all of their lyrics on that same mentioned topics and to be honest, it is really boring. Satan, demons etc. are all too well mentioned enough in classic Norweigan black metal and endless bands that copied or followed that style. I find it refreshing when new bands come with new toppics, like Mgla and Batushka, since they base their style and lyrics on eastern (anti) christian (orthodox) and pagan motives that are quite different from western christianity (catholic). For me it is especially interesting since I live in part of Europe where people practicise hard-core orthodox christianity.
Everything about this is perfection. The frost, the melancholy, the misanthropy. The sound, lyrics & visual aesthetic come together perfectly. They have captured & expressed the darkest corners of my psyche whilst I'm existentially bereft.Frosty perfection in just over 8mins.THIS is how it's supposed to feel.
This bands lyrics are something else.. i´ve never come a cross in any song i´ve listened. very deep thoughts have been put into them and the people that need to undesrtand them will.. it is poetry with profesional musicians in the instruments. I love this band
Yeah i found them in 2018 and one of my favourite black metal band period 🤘 if you haven't checked this song's drum cam then i think you sould check now ! Darkside 🙏🙏
2years ago I crushed into this song,... This band and there music,... And I crushed in so hard,... These wound will never heal,... Can't stop listen to them,... Every f*cking day,...
