Great update but Ugh ya not looking forward to this as we will go back to nothing status at Cosmo from Gold and we lost the Hyatt crossover from Mgm 😔 Hopefully they keep the balconies at least!
I don’t even want to think about them closing off the balconies. They better keep the rooms the same or they’ll be losing some loyal customers, for sure! Really hope we can find a way to make Gold in 2024. It’s going to be close.
Great recap! Really good information about being able to currently charge Cosmo food purchases to an MGM stay. I'll be at Aria in October and plan to eat at a couple of Cosmo restaurants. I'll make sure to charge them to my room so I get the reward points. I'm actually pretty excited about the switchover. I've always gambled at Cosmo, but never enough to really get very good offers. I'm Gold at MGM so, hopefully, I'll be able to take advantage and stay at Cosmo more often after February. Thanks for walking through all this.
Thanks, Blake! It’s definitely going to be more convenient to have room charging between all the properties. Lucky you, being Gold at MGM:) We’re hoping we get there for 2024, since they’ll count our credits at Cosmo. But, it’s gonna be close! Maybe we’ll see you in October. Nothing planned yet, but I’m already itching to get back.
Interesting. Doesn’t surprise us to find conflicting information! We hope you don’t have any issues. I can’t imagine they’d book you and then take it away.
The person I traveled with earned Cosmo gold last week. He called today and booked his two gold comped rooms for June 2024. And they also asked if he wanted to redeem the companion rooms. So that’s good news Cosmo is honoring the earned tier comp rooms past February.
We expected more info by now, since they said the partnership would launch in October. Maybe the hack slowed everything down or just took their focus away for a bit.
Cool vid, is there a fast track way to earn gold status at mgm? I think there used to be a quicker way through Hyatt but now with the Marriott merger I'm unsure of which path to take in order to get that gold status. Thanks.
Nothing that we’re aware of at the moment except their tier accelerator challenge. Hopefully this link will take you to the FAQs. www.mgmresorts.com/en/mgm-rewards/daily-tier-status-accelerator.html We may not know the details of the Marriott partnership until February. Until then, and since they say Cosmo & MGM tier credits will be combined in February to determine your 2024 tier status, the best way to earn tier credits that will count for MGM is through Cosmo resort spend using an MGM Rewards Mastercard.
We definitely got more comp room offers at Cosmo before MGM took over. But, we get lots of MGM room comps. Unfortunately, without the Gold status, we’d have to pay resort fees. Not looking forward to that.
Thank you for the informative videos. I'm learning a lot, and the time you take to make these is much appreciated. Caesars is running a huge 10x tier credit multiplier at the end of August. Do you know if MGM still does this, and if they have anything planned for the end of August?
With the MGM Rewards Mastercard, they’re running 5 credits per $1 spent at MGM properties through August. They’re currently running a tier accelerator promotion through December, based on tier credits earned in a single day. See if this link gets you to the details page: www.mgmresorts.com/en/mgm-rewards/daily-tier-status-accelerator.html?guestid=29041417&campaignid=CMP9348&deliveryid=DM502597&deliveryName=DM502597 If not, I’ll try to copy and paste some info for you.
@@oldirtydawson you’ll want to check your account because I believe you had to activate the offer by a certain date. You should have received an email about it, maybe back in April. The deadline might have been sometime in June or July.
I spent enough to earn a full year of no resort fees, and now they are just taking they away 5 months before that year is up? MGM has to make this right. They are basically voiding our benefits that we earned fair and square.
So, are you saying you’re currently Gold with Cosmo? When is your year supposed to be up? I think our Cosmo Gold tier status expires Dec 28. So, I guess January is just a dead month for us unless we earn enough by then to stay Gold. But then, I guess it would only be valid until February 1. Hmmm. Would you have enough tier credits between Identity and MGM to get Gold with MGM once they combine? That’s what we’re hoping to do, but it’s going to be really close.
@@TheMidlifeRide My tier benefits were supposed to be valid through June of next year, haha. That’s what it still says when I log into my account. I also never got the email about the transition that all my friends got, and I triple checked. It’s even telling me I am close to earning another year of gold, or reaching Platinum for the current year! If I spend to earn Platinum it would reset my anniversary date to the current date and I’d expect a year of waived resort fees. The gals at the identity desk told me ignore all that stuff that is displayed when I log into my account, sheesh. Imagine all the people who are trying to spend to earn that next tier and will instead lose it all in two months. I was going to sprint to Platinum if it would match to MGM Gold but now they’ve changed it so 50K points that gets me Identity Platinum only matches to Pearl and you need 75K points to get to Gold. I’m going to reach out to Bill Hornbuckle’s office and see if I can raise a stink. I jokingly asked the gals if I get half of my money back since I spent it just to earn a whole year of waived resort fees. We should at least get to use up the full year of perks we rightfully earned. All of this will be a moot point if my Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card with Marriott Platinum status matches to MGM Gold to waive the resort fees but I’m not holding my breath.
And I’ve got no points to combine at MGM because I’m a Cosmo loyalist. But had a big dinner at Cathedrale in Aria over the weekend and charged it to my Cosmo room so I could still earn the 5 points per dollar spent at Identity. Identity essentially amounted to 5% cash back, and MGM rewards is 1% cash back (1 point per dollar spent). I earn all my tier status through resort spend, I don’t really gamble, so this appears to be the end of an era for me.
@@brendanmc83 you should be getting 4 points per $1 on MGM resort spend. And, if you use the MGM rewards Mastercard, you’d get an extra 3 points per $. So, even if you stick with Cosmo only, starting February you could get MGM Gold with $18,750 resort spend OR $10,715 if you use the Mastercard. Not to mention, you’d get 1 or 2 points for each $1 spent on everyday purchases, which will reduce the amount you’ll need to spend at the resorts.
@@TheMidlifeRide Ahh I see now. It says 1 MGM rewards point and 4 tier credits per dollar spent (whatever that means, haha). I doubt I will sign up for the MGM credit card. Will mostly be using the Fine Hotels & Resorts program and sticking with Cosmo. Resort fee or not is the only question that remains to be answered!
This has to be the most damaging thing that could happen to Cosmo Identity players. With Identity points, you could use them as you liked, to convert to slot play, to purchase food and beverage, to use in the gift shop, to use at hotel stays. Now, instead of transferring your slot play into the MGM Points which would have been a lateral move with the same benefits, they transferred them into Slot Dollars, and you are only able to use them for slot play. They really screwed the loyal players!
@@-Ready-Player-One- When I contacted MGM about where the points from my credit card were going, they said they go straight to slot dollars. But, they said I could convert them to MGM Points to use on other purchases by going to the Rewards Counter. I hope that hasn’t changed. Have you tried?
This again is all about ripping there costumers off to become richer , I’ve been going there for years as a gold member and getting 4-6 night free Fountain-view I’m lucky now with mgm to get dumpster view with mgm rewards and there ridiculous amount of tears you need plus complementary nights that you have to pay resort fees . This is such a slap in the face cosmo to your loyal customers , shameless .
