I love how EVA tries to be very subltle and constantly chooses her words right while Snake has the speech ability of a brick, he constantly asks the obious stuff lol
@@iziwi2910 He says: “People who have been through war and survived develop a kind of sixth sense to warn them of danger. Trust your instincts as a soldier... As a gamer...” which is close enough. Miller was such a weird character before Peace Walker, he told you to wait 30 minutes after eating to play and to not spit out your saliva or the enemy will be able to pinpoint exactly when you were there in MG2, died, and then Liquid pretending to be him tells you to wear your socks over your shoes.
M1911A1 First of all, the feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any feeding problems. The slide's been replaced with a reinforced version. And it meshes perfectly with the frame. The frame itself has been iron-welded and scraped down multiple times for maximum precision. The front strap part of the frame has been checkered to make it dig into the hand. That prevents any slipping. The sight system's original, too. It's a 3-dot type. It's got an enlarged front sight, giving it superior target sighting capability. The regular hammer's been replaced with a ring hammer. That enhances the cocking control and increases the hammer-down speed. They also reworked the grip safety to accommodate the ring hammer. Looks like they eliminated it altogether. This is a tool for pros. The thumb safety and the slide stop are extended to allow for more precise handling. The base of the trigger guard is whittled down, so you can use a high grip. And the trigger itself is a long type for easy finger access. The trigger pull is about 3.5 pounds. That's about a pound and a half lighter than normal. The magazine well has been widened to make it easier to put in a new magazine. The magazine catch button has been cut down low to make it harder to hit by accident. The mainspring housing has been changed to a flat type to increase grip. And it's even been fitted with stepping so that it doesn't slip from the recoil when firing. On top of that, they added cocking serrations to the front part of the slide. That lets you load and eject cartridges faster in an emergency. Whoever did this is a professional. No question - this thing could shoot a one-hole at 25 yards in a machine rest.
1:20:39 Predicts how Raiden’s story ends. Despite being the worst off at the beginning (and the ridicule of fans), Jack managed to get the best ending out of all the Metal Gear portagonists
If you get captured when you arrive at Granin's research facility, getting taken "back" into the lab, you call the major and get the following conversation: "Snake what's wrong, did something happen?" "Yeah it looks like they mistook me for a scientist trying to escape." "So they took you 'back' into the lab?" "Yeah." "Well anyway you've succeeded in infiltrating the lab..."
Thats hilarious. The most funny codec call from Zero for me was when you saved, and Para Medic tried to talk about James Bond, and Zero comes in and tells snake it would be cool if he had a snake-shaped gun or that EVA and him are like James Bond and the woman and whatnot.
@@lostkriegsguardsman8615 not really failed, soldiers never remembers faces of scientists so patrol just concidered Snake being one of the scientists, so Snake technically have not been spotted and IDed as a USA infiltrator
20:45 first snake admits he doesn't have a sense of smell... but then the boss acknowledges snake has gamer instincts. this game was way ahead of its time.
Oh Yeah yeah The reason why Zero is hating on the Raiden face mask is because a lot of people hated playing as Raiden in MGS2, and when Kojima made MGS3 he put a kind of 4th wall jab at Raiden as a way of saying “I’m sorry” to all the people who were disappointed with the character. Now mind you I have no evidence to what I stated above this is just my theory as to why this line of dialogue is there.
the attention to detail in this game is mind blowing considering its 15 years old. shit it gives more attention to detail than most games from this year. its absolutely amazing.
@@thirael actually the attention to little details in 5 is pretty good too u should check it on yt but yeah the story and ending its unpleasing to say at least
interesting thing about this line, although "Alert Phase" does directly refer to the game it may also be in reference to the fact that in humans the intial part of our stress response is known as the alarm stage where the body does in fact release hormones like epinephrine to boost energy. if you took that call out of context and removed the captions, I'd swear it was an excerpt from a lecture on the physiology of stress, kojima man.
Yep can confirm it’s hard to tell as your stamina bar also restores your health same with taking damage actually increases your health when healing so its actually beneficial going loud and taking some blows so you can have higher health for bosses lol
I also like that these provide some insight to some of the pseudo historical lore of Metal Gear If and when Konami makes another metal gear i hope it’s either about the real Big Boss building Zanzibarland and/or Solidus and the civil war in Liberia; or about the Boss and her missions and little bit about a young Naked Snake
Zero really had THIS much codec conversations? I usually never called him because he was mostly pointing out the obvious mission objective anyways. ''Go up there, save sokolov, destroy the shagohod, escape, etc.''. I never thought he really explained that much about his backstory and military times in the SAS.
In one sense, the acting and emotion isn't quite good *everywhere* but it's damn good voice acting. Especially for lore dumps. I could listen to them for hours.
Zero: You're going to drink that foul mud? On the victory flight home? Snake: Drinking coffee after a victory has always been an American tradition. Zero: Since when? Snake: September 3rd, 1783 Zero: I... *irritated sigh* just get back to the mission, Snake. Snake: *whistles opening bars of the US anthem before the codec call closes*
I love how they make Para-Medic seem like a really nice, fairly ethical person, but you come to find out shes one of the biggest assholes in the MGS universe lol. Experiments on Frank Jaeger and turns him into a cyber ninja who is in constant agony, so much so that he breaks out and kills her and her entire team. Thats right, Para-Medic was Dr Clark.
That’s pretty much everyone who was Involved in operation Snake Eater. They all seem funny and work together but they turn out to be some of the biggest assholes in the series
Para-Medic is essentially the bad ending for Otacon. They have a lot in common, but while Otacon learned to look past his obsessions and take responsibility for his actions, Para-Medic never did, and so while Otacon had his worldview challenged became a more conscientious person, Para-Medic let her obsessions and power as a leading member of the Patriots consume her, leading to Les Enfants Terribles and the horrific Cyborg Ninja experiments.
I love the Radio Conversations in MGS3. I can honestly say that the conversation about Ocelot and his habit of twisting his elbow is my favorite. It's really interesting
49:54 I was just here relaxing and listening to trivia and relationship building, and suddenly I heard how Sigint wanted to use computers to unite the world. Sadly the internet does care about things like being American or Russian
It's a good conversation because it foreshadows him becoming a mercenary leader and a figure who will unite soldiers from various countries. He shows he can't help but offer guidance to a fellow soldier, and one younger than he is. Even though that soldier tried to kill him and is his enemy. And even Snake doesn't really understand why he wants to help him, its just instinctive. It ties into what The Boss told him - that he's not quite a soldier because he doesn't understand that a soldier is a political tool and nothing more. He should be prioritising his orders over all else but he's more interested in passing on advice to a fellow soldier and watching them grow, even though they're his enemy. This all culminates in the ending with him turning his back on America for the way they used The Boss, and him, in precisely the way The Boss warned- a soldier is a political tool and nothing more. The character work for Big Boss is all done in MGS3 and Peace Walker. Those two games complete his arc, there really wasn't any need for GZ and TPP to do any more. He's already the villain in MGSV and the twist just shows to illustrate how far he's fallen. Just listen to the conversation he has with The Boss at the start of the Virtuous Mission, where he's this naive but loyal soldier who believes in his country and its leader no matter who's in charge, and contrary that with the speech he gives to his men at the end of Peace Walker where he announces the establishment of Outer Heaven. That's a real hero to villain arc that does its job of outlining that this is the guy who in another 15 years will be farming war orphans and trying to create endless war so soldiers will always have a place.
i'd have to look at the nutritional info again. but i thought calorie mates had roughly the same calorie count as a meal overall. which... i imagine is a bit subjective to say, given all the mitigating factors. but still. i honestly use them for meal replacement. not so much for dieting.
All jokes and memes aside, these codec calls are actually making characters more real than any other games. My favourite codec call is 1:09:19 , after that conversation I immediately remember Huey from PW, GZ and TPP. Damn, this franchise is truly golden. P. S. Yes, bad English, I know.
Everyone has a thing for Snake, whether is Big Boss or Solid Snake. He is extremely ruggedly handsome, badass voice, simply an alpha male. All the women in peacewalker, even Paz were highly attracted to Snake and said he was "sexy".
Well Zero and Snake didn't really took it personally until Skull Face and his XOF attacked both sides. While Snake was not happy with the Les Enfant, he disregarded it after some time since the clones will be used faraway from his own pmc country. Kaz was also playing along with Cipher during the establishment of their outer heaven and snake forgave him for it. There's just miscommunications at both ends since they became too relevant for the mg universe.
After seeing this, im convinced Hideo had a blast having a in game location where he could just stock pile all kinds of fantasy tech and claim it all to be "prototypes" or "captured from the west for testing purposes" its really convent for explaining away all the cool stuff that doesn't make sense being there.
Most of the stuff you see in game are actually real prototypes that existed back in the Cold War. Well, to some extent at least. You know that those Flying Platforms had a real prototype developed in Soviet Union. Of course it was scrapped because of many reasons, but it's still pretty cool.
@@loganreed23 thats my point though, the real versions got scrapped but because this takes place in a super secret research facity that isn't recorded by history, they just so happen to have the working versions of everything all in one place, hence how we can have actual flying platforms and other tech that doesn't quite work the way it does reality
Paramedic kills me sometimes. I know Metal Gear has a thing with completely oblivious characters but Jesus lady. What do you mean "What?" THE THING YOU WERE LITERALLY JUST TALKING ABOUT WOMAN!!
That’s a translation / localization of Japanese conversation parlance. Normally when you are oblivious in Japanese, kinda faking it as they’ve translated, you get a simple “Eh?” Or other monosyllables. So in the original, the conversation was definitely more of a tongue-in-cheek “huh, what’s that, can’t understand you” joke, whereas in English it becomes a “what did you say???” joke that falls a little short.
Interestingly I have a personal theory that Para-Medic is the mystery mother of Solidus. I used this quote while writing a whole in depth page about it on the Metal Gear subreddit
@@cardoso8512 I finished typing it out a while ago. Here's the link: www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/bqe5qv/theory_paramedic_is_solidus_mother/
Hey George!! Select each one, in order, then click to the next one after what is said, except the last one, play until the conversation is over 🤣 58:48, 1:00:16, 58:55, 59:04, 59:25, 59:41, 1:01:51
Yep, he's also ADAM that Snake was meant to encounter during operation Snake Eater. But Snake is not gay so that's why EVA's boobs convinced him enough
After nearly 15 years of beating mgs 3, I’ve NEVER heard the codec call insinuating that ocelot was the bosses chid. I mean I knew it was cannon but never knew it was given weight through a codec Call. You’re pretty good.
@@hsx7576 absolutely man, mgs3 being one of my all time favorite games, is a testament to its own creativity that literally 18 years after playing it for the first time I'm still finding new little details I've never seen or heard before!
Things we learned i mgs3 about big boss, He wasn't very smart, he hasn't watched any movie, he ask to many questions, he wants to eat every animal in the planet and he is a huge Tsundere xD
47:05 and 49:55 really fly in the face of those who felt that MGS4's revelation that Para-Medic and Sigint became co-founders of the Patriots was a slapdash retcon. It seems like Kojima was planting the seeds already...
Even more so, the twist at the end of the game kinda confirms that your plucky team of movie-loving, spy-watching, shit-tank-dreaming goofballs were manipulating you the whole time, not unlike how THE PATRIOTS manipulated Raiden during MGS2.
Hey george, I wanted to say thank you for creating the best mgs content on youtube. Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Edit: Will you play any other games than mgs in the future? Playing the same game over and over again can get dull and repetitive, even if it is the best game ever.
This is so nice honestly. This fills the gap so much in the goofiness between the more notable codecs by feeling like proper intelligence discussion while giving character to the team. This kind of mood setting is almost never proper appreciated. I'm almost entirely sure the reason 4 isn't nearly as good as other games is because it's much less open ended in gameplay and the codecs are so threadbare.
The Boss also says "If you stand up and run around like an idiot, you're bound to be spotted by the enemy." Dang, it's like The Boss is really talking to me.
14:46 Para-Medic: 'Fifty years from now someone might give you a call' Mgs4 takes place 2014, exactly fifty years from operation Snake Eater. The last time Big Boss shows his face publicly. Well played Kojima, you're pretty good.
I'm not sure either, but something tells me it was some sort of joke about how she became pretty hard to understand..? Kinda taking the gag of her talking so much that the subtitler didn't know what she was saying apart from 'speaking French'..
