Your stat investment will vary depending on whether you main Neil or Ella. For Ella, use 21 upgrades on Impact/Control to max it out (that's my preference since then mistakes will have negligible effect and you can use woods from even the worst Lies). You can decide if you want to invest in Height since Ella's loft decreases if you don't invest in it, but if you invest enough in Drive, you don't really have to. With more power, you'll be able to use shorter clubs that grant you more loft anyway (plus, you'd need at least 8 upgrades to change it at Level 99). All of the rest can go into Drive (Spin is not very important if you allow the ball to roll). It's not worth investing into Shot since you need 17 upgrades, and that would reduce your power by around 10%, costing you multiple Eagle opportunities. For Neil, use 22 upgrades on Impact/Control to max it out. Don't bother with Shot or Spin. You'd need at least 11 upgrades to Height to lower his Shot, which really isn't worth it. All the rest goes to Drive. The only issue is that your shot is extremely high and curved, but these can be tempered with intelligent Impact Point choices. Plus, for shorter holes/shots, you can play what I call "punch shots" (club up, reduce power and add Backspin; allow room for the ball to roll). If I decide to implement speedrun categories that allow Neil/Ella, I think Ella would be the dominant character since she can hit so low, but she is about 2% weaker than Neil, so it's an interesting tradeoff. As far as I know, the putter behaves identically with every character. There is randomness with the power variation but it seems to have no effect on putts.

One more thing how do you get the golf ball (above the toad) to get glowing red anywhere on the ball. for example star boo whenever i try to change the balls angles (using the gamecubes controller control pad ) and i hit the ball with it with full right angle change do i have to hit the sweet zone dead on in order to curve the ball properly?

This is the distance variation RNG. I don't know what exactly the percentage affects (ball velocity, carry yardage, total yardage), but it can affect your shot nonetheless. I'm familiar enough with the game to predict what these changes might do to my shot and within one second make a decision to correct it. This is why during the swing I might change the Impact Point away from the center, sides or corners. I might also add or forgo Spin for this reason. This is a skill not even the Ace CPU acknowledges. If you're in a good Lie, this number won't be as high (I tend to call this "RNG risk"); but if you're in a bad Lie, anything goes!

Tilt and hold the Control Stick during the Swing to move the Impact Point to the desired region on the ball. Top sends the ball lower and often will make it carry less but roll more; bottom sends the ball higher and often will make it carry less and roll less; left and right curve the ball in opposite directions with less carry. Most players only need to do this to avoid an obstacle, but a speedrunner will manipulate the Impact Point to control distance, hangtime, roll, and fight the wind while spending less time aiming.

Like every other sport, 90% of it is distance control. Master that and everything else is just a feedback learning loop. There are subtle quirks with the way that weather works on an extreme shot, but that comes with experience. This is the game I've played most over the last 13 years.

RNG stands for Random Number Generation. In virtually every video game, the CPU will generate numbers pseudo-randomly that are assigned attributes and ultimately contribute to the randomization of gameplay elements. In this game, the wind, weather, and pin locations are all unpredictable and subject to change with every playthrough. The Lie (terrain, or rather, the state of it) is not in itself random, but its distributions throughout the Fairways, Roughs, etc. are deterministic if you are able to exactly duplicate specific shots (such as in Lakitu Cup where there is no Wind). The distance variation you can experience from every shot, which is represented by a numeric range on the lower right corner by the Lie indicator, is probably what I most often refer to when I speak of RNG. The instant the power is set on a shot, a value will appear on the lower-right and I will often change my intended shot based on what happens. I can accomplish this by (not) adding Spin, changing the Impact Point, or intentionally missing the Sweet Spot to control distance. This is a high-level skill because you have less than one second to make a decision. If it's a decent Lie and there isn't much risk, it's best not to worry and play your shot the way you intended. If it's a bad Lie, you'll want to minimize risk as much as possible by clubbing down until you both increase the width of the Impact Zone and lower the RNG range (unless you think you can reach the Green and you're confident in hitting the Sweet Spot). All that said, RNG in not necessary fully random. Usually, numbers are generated from an initial seed and a formula, so they are not random in the purest logical sense. This means if someone is able to dissect the game and figure out how it works, RNG can be manipulated. This might work by making certain inputs on certain frames. In a tool-assisted run, this is often abused to achieve the best possible outcomes. As of now, I have no idea how RNG in itself works in Toadstool Tour, and I am all ears if anyone can figure it out. I have noticed that certain pin locations come up more frequently than they should early in my speedruns, but I can't isolate the cause.

It got even more confusing in MGWT because there's water that's safe to land your Ball in in Yoshi Lake and when the water you hit your ball into is a Water Hazard instead of being Standing Water despite it looking so shallow, how can you tell which is which?

Nice! I can give you a bit of friendly advice if you don't want future uploads to have "potato" quality. The best program for local recording and streaming is OBS Studio (open-source, free, and many gamers/streamers use it). You can download it here: obsproject.com/ If you are playing Mario Golf (64) and are using an emulator instead of buying the game for less than 10 dollars, I would HIGHLY playing the Virtual Console version using Dolphin since it looks MUCH better. It would be a WAD file that you can find in one of those shady emulator sites (I won't post links because I personally don't condone the use of ROMs and ISOs). I hope these tips help you.
