1:20: That "lick-fakeout-into-jab" attack by the Brachydios is so beautiful. Fakeouts and cancels in these games tend to be ugly, but Brachydios's fakeout is an example of one done very seamlessly.
You are exactly like chris a pro CB user. i cant even get close to you. only got 4 minutes 40 seconds. and also i dont know how to say but thank you. after i watched your video 2 times, i went to farm my edgemaster charm and i got 4 edgemaster and spirit 3 with 3 slots!!!! that's my first 3 slots edgemaster charm. i think it's because of you. thank you so much. i want to copy your sets because it looks so powerful. guard +2 and challanger +2 in one set, that's so freaking awesome! i can GP all day long!!!! thanks again bro
You never cease to amaze me at how well you can play everything you post. Bonus points for a mixed set that somehow ended up looking cool while performing well.
Quite lucky with the RNG. Brachy doesn't do anything but spam the horn explosion and jumps. Great run nonetheless - and that charm is the only thing I need for any decent mixed sets.
I've been watching this video over and over in order to learn some techniques and timing. You even beat Chris time, that makes me think how important is Challenger +2 in the CB. I really hope you're taking some other runs in the future.
I've been using CB since the day I started playing MH4U and I'm gonna be practicing with Brachy right now. Also, I want to make that mixed set, but I have no Edgemaster +4 OOO talisman :(
Hey Emarrel! can i ask you something? how do you do that shield block, that seems to repel its attacks and bounce him back? instead of knocking you back while shielding a roar or an attack?, also, why do you have your shield red charge all the time but you never release an ultra? im still learning the charge blade but i saw a lot of stuff i'd never seen applied like you did
+Cxtrife Whenever Brachydios recoiled from a block this was the burst damage from the Guard Point hitting the stagger threshold, not so much a regular feature of a GP. As for why I never suffered much push-back, that's Guard+2 and GP's innate stronger guards at work. If you don't know how guard points work I'll give you the basics: The first half second of the sword -> axe transformation and last half second of any roundslash animation have 'guard point' frames. A guard point is innately stronger than blocking normally and when in boost mode you have lance level blocking. You also deal KO and some burst damage if you block with a GP in boost mode. Moreover, the sword->axe transformation GP can be strung in the middle of any sword combo and can be performed from idle using X+R, however if you have a New 3DS I suggest going into the options and changing the kick/special action button to Start. The reason for this if you misinput X+R you'll actually perform the animation as if you did it from a guard, which has *zero guard frames*. As a result, a common piece of misinformation is that idle GPs have less frames - this simply isn't true. Because GP frames last as long as they do, get in the mind-set that instead of evading an attack you can just press X+R/Start to efficiently block it instead. With Guard Boost you can also GP unblock-able attacks. In order to cancel the Ultra Burst into an AED you need to hold back relative in the direction your hunter is facing towards the camera and push X. You can also change the Orientation Type in the options so you just have the hold downwards regardless of which direction your hunter is facing. Ultra burst spamming is usually the least efficient way to fight monsters because you lose your shield boost, consume all your phials and the wind-up is ridiculous. Often the complete loss in momentum is not worth the damage dealt. If you want an example of Ultra Bursting being efficient, see the Gravios video.
Nice run! I want to know how do you press GP button, you press R+X or you use special attack button? I ask this because I fail most of the time by press R+X button because I often press R before X, using Start button might be easier but sometime I can't react fast enough to press it.
+SiLeNtWAY I use the start button. I'm using a New 3DS so I find it pretty comfortable to just keep my thumb sitting between Start and the B button if I'm not in attack range.
Hi there from Spain!! I have a interesting question that could help others. When you are loading your bials with R+A you change to Axe mode doing a bial attack. How do you do that?? 0:58 Thanks. Very nice video
+NujabesGaming Try out every weapon and see which one clicks with you the most. Make Velociprey or Kut-Ku armour when it becomes available. Bookmark Kiranico and/or download Ping's MH4G Dex, these both serve a wealth of information and will make finding out where to find specific items easier. The hitzone data is really handy too. A bit further down the line you'll want to take armour skills more seriously and make something that compliments whatever weapon you're using well. Athena's Armour Set Search is pretty essential if you care about mix/maxing. There's a whole lot of things to learn depending on how much you intend to play but I don't want to inundate a beginner with too much. Also, there's a lot of information within the game itself you can read via the Hunter's Notes that a lot of people forget about.
I'm practising against Brachy now (20mns is my record T_T) just started against him last night. He's v tricky to read (those combo punches where he re-positions himself and/or hits you on the side of the body are tough for me to read!! I got 3mns 23 seconds on brute tigrex after hundreds of hunts, so now its this a**holes turn >.> He is reallllllyyyy annoying for me though!
I think the nerf will be justified, considering that the phial explosion will be centralized on one single explosion as opposed to several tiny explosions in the current game.
I really wish they made another Monster Hunter for Playstation... Toukiden was alright, but it lacks a lot what MH has to offer, and I can only play Freedom Unite so many times solo before hitting walls.
I know guard points are super impressive but I'd like to see a time attack that wasn't using Charge Blade. GPs take skill but seem almost like cheating, like Evasion +2 without using any skill points PLUS bonus KO Damage. Any other weapon would just be more awesome imho. I know you're good enough to do it :)
Hi Emarrel, can u help me please.First question is what is AED and second question is how can i do a super attack insted of ultra like u did in minute 2:50, because when i press X+A to do the move it consumes me all phials, insted of 1 like u did. Any advice? thanks
i think i already did it once, pull back is press X+A then move analog to oposite side and press x at begining of move right? if im attacking to the right side means pull left, left side means pull right. But if this is true, i dont know the timing to pull down, because i try several times and all phials and red shield gone in one slash. thanks
Shield bash (X+A) into Ultra/SAED (X+A), as soon as your character goes from the shield bash into the ultra animation, hold down in the opposide direction and mash X. AED means Amped Elemental Discharge. Ultra is Super Amped Elemental Discharge (SAED)
+Zacc Johnson try pressing X before pressing R when doing Guard points so you get the "easier to do" guard point. people always have it as R+X, but I always press X before R and it has increased my Guard Point accuracy by about 40 percent. The best way to truly beat him is to just fight him over and over again, learning his moveset and what specific things do/tell you. When he side steps and uses his arm to pivot himself he almost always follows it up with a side swept punch.
+UrbanBanchou Felvine bomb. It makes felynes and melynx target you like crazy, but the bombs don't do any damage so they're perfect for shortening the recovery time and booting yourself into the next area.
+Triixster Pull back in the direction your hunter is facing relative to the camera and press X. If you use Orientation Type 2 in the options you just push downwards on the circle pad regardless of which direction your hunter is facing.
+taggermc bagger There is one in the making called Citra, but it's not even functional as of writing, in a year or two they might've made it stable enough to run a simple game, even longer if it's going to run MH4U.
