Correction: Bounty hunters in Star Wars are abscially mercenaries. They can be hired to do various tasks, from assassinating, capturing, deliver, protecting and so on. Fun fact: In real life, a bounty hunter is a private agent working for a bail bondsman who captures fugitives or criminals for a commission or bounty. Basically, they chase after criminals who miss their hearings or trials in court for a reward. (Search it up for further information)

When Jango had it it was largely unpainted, with a few blue pieces. When Boba began to wear it he repainted and decorated it to suit himself and his own identity.
