considering how straightforward the question is, and how straightforward your answer is, Ive no idea why it took me so long to find it but im glad i found your video. It confirmed everything I needed to know. Thanks for your help 👍
If you look at your damage in the pause menu, the elemental damage will be highlighted a different color when capped. You can easily test by equipping or taking away "decorations" on your armor that enhance that element, or a charm of that element.
It is clearly stated in the in game skill explanation that you access when checking armor. We see the text I'm talking about several time in the video. Such as 3:28.
ty . ive been playing wrong and im sad , i have made to much equipment that i dont need omg. also not understanding hiden element and free element skill .. im such a noob
Hey, you don't happen to know how this capping affects Bowguns, do you? You can't preview them in the same way because they only do elemental damage when firing the correct ammo type.
Bowgun elemental damage doesn't improve with these skills AFAIK. Or if they do, there is no indicator in-game. I highly doubt it since the weapons do not have an elemental value.
If your interested, I have now tested this with a couple of bowguns. I have numbers for the Jyura Bullet III rapid firing water ammo at the post in the training area: 0 water attack: 29/14/14 damage, 57 total 1 water attack: 31/15/15 damage, 61 total (+4 gained) 2 water attack: 32/16/16 damage, 64 total (+3 gained) 3 water attack: 34/16/16 damage, 66 total (+2 gained) 4/5 water attack: 34/16/16 damage, 66 total (+0 gained) I had other gear on, but the test used decorations so no other changes to the build. It appears these follow a similar rule to melee weapons. The difference above between 1/2 water is probably due to rounding / the effect of rapid fire, i'd say they likely add +3 to the base damage each, and the third gem is getting capped. If I could be bothered i'd test this naked with a single shot gun, but I'm happy to note that they do appear to work, and 3 seems to be the right number to use.
Hey I think the dragon damage write up on the link is the same as ice damage write up. Shows high metal chest, leginas helm, etc for dragon, same as ice. Only me?
Sadly we still need to farm either the weapon or the armor as we can only preview one or the other. Still it helps. Also they say the elemental cap increases with the weapon tier. That is the upgraded fire switch axe may actually benefit from +4 or more. I'll try later if this is true with the dragon damage on Dying Light.
+2, (DA 1 +30), (DA 2 + 60), 2 points overcaps it by 10, for an average gain of 25 ea. 150->200! You save a point from your original assumption of 3, which is great news haha.
If it caps out at level 3 for example, does that mean you still get the bonus +10% and plus 100attack from fire attack 5? I feel that's a good buff. More I'm asking if I'm missing out on the 10%
How does elemts work? I can make a 495 bone sword or a 429 with 210 ice damage. If i was to fight a dragon weak against ice which weapon would be best and why?
Oh boy... basically elemental damage is first converted to "true elemental damage" which is "EDMG / 10". From there it applies to every hit. Then, depending on which hitzone on the monster you hit it will apply anywhere from "none to greatly increased" depending on how weak the part is to the element. On average, you're looking at "EDMG / 10" bonus damage per hit - just as a baseline "simplification". I don't know if in MHW it still suffers from the further 35% penalty before bonuses. Oh boy... I better write something up that's more complete. Thsi gets asked alot.
Francisco Martinez apology or not, you're a terrible (I chose that word carefully) idiot. I'm amazed yet again by how horribly demanding a person can be. Please quit the internet, the masses will appreciate it.
this shit is asinine. i really wish they'd just let us benefit from all 5 levels of the elemental skills no matter what weapon. btw with the 5/10% bonuses on level 4 and 5 is that after your elemental boost in regards to the damage you deal or is that added to the stats that are shown on the gear? thanks for the info, there's a lot of things in MH that aren't clearly explained.
The 4th and 5th point add more to the listed damage... unless i'm damn crazy and remember wrongly. I WISH it works like "+5%/10% damage", but I don't think so.
ah so that last bonus from level 4 and 5 is probably best for any weapon that can gain the most from it. this helps out a lot in decided if i should go the full 5 or stop at 3 thanks.
Be wary that the 4th and 5th point will only ever gain true benefit from very few weapons. Weapons with a base elemental weapon damage of 400+. The 5th point is only usable with the absolute extreme titans of elemental damage, with values of 450+
I'm getting sick and tired of the terrible obtuse game design in MHW. Elemental caps that aren't properly explained. "Hidden" elemental damage that isn't explained. Augmentation upgrade system that is locked for all gear levels behind the highest level drops, which makes zero sense and isn't explained. "Optional" quests with critical gear and upgrades that are locked behind a boring string of other "optional" quests. And of course everyone's favorite, the Powerball lottery for Holy Grail decos like Mighty Bow with insane low drop rates that were clearly nerfed with micro-transactions and loot crates in mind. Oh joy! Let's farm Greatest Jagras event for two weeks straight, appraising THOUSANDS of decorations without ever getting the one God drop you need for your build. Why am I even bothering with this game? Capcom clearly doesn't give AF about it's player base.
