little while since the last comment but I love how you do valor gunlance runs, the weapon will never have a more fun iteration in my humble opinion, rapid shells are just too cool, plus come on they're blue.
Has the damage increase that Dragons Breath gives to shelling been improved at all? I saw another speed runner use it in their Brave GL run as well, and +10 damage, which would be +60 with a full burst, doesn’t seem like a lot against Grank stuff. Actually maybe I’m just not thinking about it right. Regardless, awesome run, you’re really smart with how you avoid hits and apply pressure.
To my knowledge no its the same buff as it was in Gen and yeah shelling only in g rank isnt best but sometimes its not horrible either. Adept might get a 4 min hunt while shelling might do 6-7 mins just depends on monster
I dunno. From what I’ve seen from runs, brave GL seems to get a lot more staggers, and one mh speedrunner that I’ve been watching said that they got a better time on Astalos using Brave over Adept. Maybe the more generous hit box that the shells give also contributes, but at least with certain matchups they seem 1 to 1. Would it be worth ditching the guard 2 for extra into artillery to boost it to artillery god? I'm not sure if brave style relies on guarding and I rarely focus on blocking with gl anyway, but it's got me curious to try this skillset out when gu arrives
Art god is not in mhg or mhgu so no. Guard 2 isnt even really needed cause i think brave style gets guard 1 once its charged but i havent checked that yet.
Mai LBG that's a shame, been using it to buff my gunlance in 4U to the gods - a bit annoyed that you can't guarantee bombardier from gen's food menu so that knocks that out the window too :(
N5 beats out L5 on chain and FB so the only way i can see it being more useful is on dk for when hes flying and higher chances of flinching. Otherwise its less dmg if used the same way so kinda seems like losing a lot to gain a little 🤔
To support trying L5, a guard point reload loads 4 shells at once, the exact size of L5 clip. Meaning less of the reloads (compared to trying to get 6 shells with 2 reloads) and more bursts that are only a slight less damage compared to a N5 full burst with 6 shells. (I did the math a long time ago, I can try to find if needed). Plus, super quick L5 wyvern fire sounds nice to have (especially if you can manage to ledge cancel the recoil)
Its not really heavy dmg when used so little and these monsters have horrible hitzones lol slam might be doing 20-30 dmg while the shells are doing 200+
Mai LBG Saying that the overhead smash doesn't do much damage to these monsters is wrong. Even though the hitboxes are not favorable, it's still something especially because it is not really used very little. And you're also using the forward attack.This is just how Brave GL should be played and that's it, shell spamming while also hitting with the right combo to spam the burst as quick as possible. This run is well performed, but it's a G-rank weapon + G-rank set on a high rank Deviant quest, man.
