6:59 haha this was my issue with Air-land Battle. The campaign is all about setting up a defensive position and letting the AI Zerg rush into it peace-meal. It’s almost like playing tower defense. Which makes some sense in a “defending west Germany from a massed human wave Soviet Invasion”. But not so much where almost every battle goes the same way even as Soviet against NATO. I guess all these years they haven’t bothered to improve the AI.

The ai is actually quite actively worked upon in the alpha but yeah it still struggles with infantry+ recon in the game in general is too weak so ai doesn't even have enough Infos to operate on. And in ag on attack it's rather suicidal ywah

@@sd_league recently I've become aware that a significant segment of game designers believe that the AI should not be too strong because many players want to feel good about intellectually dominating the AI during their SP experience. Not only that but AI development and innovation is expensive. So better to stick with traditional scripted AI that makes most players happy instead of trying to innovate some really good but expensive dynamic AI that learns and adapts, offering a real challenge. As a more seasoned player that loves being challenged by AI and always complains about AI in strategy games becoming predictable and boring, this sounds completely backwards to me. But i guess this might be the world we live in.

@@ares106 yeah this is part of it too for sure. Eugen could make the AI beat you, but it would feel unfair and punishing. Finding the middle is hard. If you check their ai feedback channel on their discord though you will see they improved a good bit + go based on good player feedback a lot

@@sd_league I get that recon is hard in this game, but not rushing tanks into a town without support or avoiding kill zones after multiple losses would make playing the AI more interesting to me. It just feels cheesy to win with cheap traps like that.
