I have met Iranians around the world, most often in Central Asia, and they have impressed me as a nationality as educated, savvy people who would really flourish under better conditions. Many Westerners have love for Iranains (well, at least me, so you have one!).

Always remember this pattern, 1) Conflict is always between islam vs other religions 2) Other islamic countries will not accept those affected muslims as their refugees, but they somehow sneak into non-islamic countries. (Russia, whole EU problem with refugees: France, Germany, Spain etc., India divided into 3+ countries, Iran was not an islamic state initially) 3) once they are into non-islamic countries, they create separate laws and try to break that country too.

Not only in Iran but in many Islamic countries. It's easy to figure out why... A non muslim is always considered a second class citizen with no equal rights. It's in Quran how the non muslim is to be treated if he lives in Dar el Islam (land of Islam) and that he should convert... In Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Turkyie etc.. the number of "conversions" to Islam look more like a need than an adherence...

My heart breaks for the people of Iran over its regime. I married an Iranian and have been to beautiful and historical Iran and am planning to return even though were divorced. Persian food is still my favourite and I have many Iranian friends who are some of the most beautiful people in the world. Please pray for Iran.

Unless the regime falls, don't go there. You can become another person imprisoned on fabricated charges for future exchange. Who knows what they will do to you. And you will also cause harm to your country. It amazes me how many people do these very risky and dangerous things for romantic and frivolous reasons. It also amazes me that so many countries terrorized by Iran, China, Russia, still permit their citizens to go there, so that the regime can take them hostage and then exchange them for tons of money or their own agents. Which means that these agents can do anything they want with complete immunity. This practice is spreading, and, basically, destroying the world. I am not kidding. Please don't go there. Don't become part of the problem.

absolutely brilliant conversation. Fascinating and very good journalism from the hidden front line as it were. I live in the home counties mentioned about 30 miles from London. We have an Iranian restaurant in our nearby village. Charming people. Regarding the religious fanatics mentioned who are not backwards at coming forwards about their hatred of Big Satan and little satans...I have two words. Trojan Horse. I have so much respect and admiration for the unsung heroes behind the scenes like Mr Dunn, thankyou sir, who risk life and limb to keep us all safe and work tirelessly and sacrifice so much with out any recognition for obvious reasons. Giving up a normal life of routine and with their families (whether aware or not, likely not as to why their loved one is away so much). At such great cost personally but protecting multitudes. So much respect. God bless you guys. May they continue spotting and tracking the trojan horses so effectively!!

Wow, Mr. Dunn, what an interesting choice of career! Tom Clancy's John Clark fka John Kelly had a similar career; he was also fluent in Russian and knowledgeable in other strategic languages, and he was an expert executioner, besides. Tell us, how are your language skills? How good are you at "taking care of yourself" in the field? Do any of your experiences show up, disguised or otherwise, in your novels? ETA: I wanted to listen to your books … until I sampled a couple of them. You are not a very good writer of dialogue. In fact, listening to your books reminds me of a scene from Throw Momma From The Train: Billy Crystal plays a writing teacher, one of whose students is writing a book about submarine warfare. You have to hear her read it to understand what I’m talking about, but if you DO hear it, you’ll hear your books to a T. I don’t mean to be rude, but you, sir, are no Ian Fleming or Tom Clancy. Lucky for you that I’m not your audience. 😊

You can find similar quotes in the Bible, including Jesus himself, and especially the Tanakh - most recently the "Almalek" speech that Netanyahu gave that basically meant "Kill everything". You're cherry picking to confirm your bias. Look instead at the conflict zones and their origin, and you'll understand that it has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with neo-con capitalism and maintaining the hegemony.

Religion , as you outlined in your comment, is quite literally a weapon. A propaganda weapon to keep you: Loyal ,Law abiding,Uniform as a population When the state and the church are 1, this is the most dangerous form of religion because the state can call on you to kill for the state in the name of the a said “god”. That takes away any moral compass of a human being because they think they are doing gods work. Religion is a major problem. I hope one day our world will be able to understand that it is as big a threat, if not much bigger, to humanity as is global warming.
