Setting aside the quality of Teen Titans Go, when Cyborg "borrowed" Green Lantern's ring, his hard-light construct of choice was the Golden Girls. So, I GUESS they exist in DC canon?
This seems similar to Krosmasters. Characters with oversized heads, unique powers, moving around boards of different scenarios knocking each other out. 😉
At some point, you know there is going to be fan favorite knock off characters like a Baby Yoda, excuse me, 'baby alien' and fan fiction scenarios. Amazing.
Thank you! We felt like it could add a lot to the game. There aren't many games available where you can build your own resource pool based on the characters you choose. It also provides some interesting decisions on which abilities to activate and when, depending on how powerful they are and how long that token will be on the cooldown track.
Definitely innovative, Sam. Cooldowns might not be new, but a simple, effective way of doing it that works the same way with EVERYTHING in the game is not something we've seen before.
Watching this makes me hope they add more franchises into the mix! If they ever include things like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, or Stranger things etc. I’ll definitely try this out!!
How long before homebrew rules start showing up like Heroscape? I know they're a little large, but I have Hans Gruber, Kyle from South Park, an MTG Planeswalker, an NFL player and Bob Ross and I need to get them in this game...
So is this better than unmatched ? I'd be pretty gutted, they seem to scratch pretty much the same itch, but I really dislike the funko pop look (I've got nothing against chibi, but pops are so generic with their identical square heads and lifeless black eyes...)
I'm obviously biased since I was on the Funkoverse team, so I'm not going to say one is better than the other. I will say that while the games both have minis and combat, they are very different in almost every other way. Unmatched is ultimately a combat game entirely, since you win by defeating your opponent, while Funkoverse has differing scenarios that reward other avenues for points. Also, Unmatched is a very "grab-n'-go" type of thing because you simply pick one character, grab their deck, and play. Funkoverse is a squad based game so you are building a team and picking items and such. While they are getting compared a lot, I think there's definitely room for both.
I need characters with more 'life' to their look. Chibi is fine, Funko is too simple a version. That's probably why Rick and Morty actually look quite good.
Seems to light for me. Maybe I will have to watch the playthrough. I'm trying to imagine, if it didn't have all the cool characters would I like it? The fun characters are not enough to make the game for me.
In another video Tom and Sam did that was longer where they were testing some games including Funkoverse one of the companies responsible for the game, Prospero Hall, was in the live chat. Someone asked about the other 2 Golden Girl characters. Prospero Hall's reply was: "Official statement: We're definitely aware there are 2 other Golden Girls and that people would enjoy having the other 2. ;) ;) ;)" So, I would say it is very likely the other two get released later in another 2 pack.
They should have made a super size version to play with the actual size funkopops. I’m sure this will sell loads but it doesn’t appeal to me as it uses the mini figures which is just another thing to buy and collect instead of using people’s funkopop collections
Heroclix Lite. Honestly as someone tired of Heroclix, I really like the design of this game. But with that being said, I’m so repulsed by FunkoPops at this point that I don’t think I can get into this.
I was looking at it at Target and I not to attracted to it. The models don't need to be that big which I think add to the cost. And I think the cost it's two high. The character feel to simple that I think most games will come down to dice rolls over an overall strategy. To the expansions are also to expensive for a game that seems like your suppose to be collecting characters.
Luke Patton Tom mentioned about a week ago that he hasn't played it. Sam is the only one. After hearing them enjoy this Funko game and it's easy gameplay, Batman miGht be too heavy for Tom right now.
I'm getting the 2 DC sets, because I believe life is too short to play "Love Boat Versus Godzilla" type board games, instead of playing thematic games, that I really enjoy.
So close. The number of different teams you can get by picking three characters from sixteen is 16 x 15 x 14 divided by 6; you need a three-factorial on the bottom, not a three.
"An anachronism is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of persons, events, objects, or customs from different periods."
Sure, and Batman, Harry Potter, Rick and Morty, and the Golden Girls aren't particularly anachronistic with each other, coming from the same approximate time period.
@@12thLevelSithLord I would argue that Golden Girls takes place in the 80s, Harry Potter takes place in the 90s, Batman takes place in present day, and Rick and Morty takes place sometime between 2021-2028.
@@justindavis9493 Technically, anachronism is purely a time-based thing. It refers to something being portrayed in the wrong time period. It does not refer to different intellectual properties overlapping or even different "universes" overlapping. It's an alright use of the word since most of us know what he means, but it's definitely not being used "correctly".
It sounds like each player will simply waste time moving the characters towards each other and then the rest of the game is simply rolling dice over and over (knocking down, standing up, rolling more dice) until someone has the most points. Doesn't sound like it has much strategy at all. Not my thing.
Ken, the scenarios give you other things to do that sort of dissuade you from just clumping up. There are points on the board to go gather, plus a scenario that rewards capturing zones, returning flags, etc. The team on this game loves tactical miniatures games, and while we wanted to make something accessible, I assure you that we put in a lot of strategic choices!
Yeah, you're probably right if you completely ignore the scenarios. Not saying that the scenarios will make the game any more your "thing", but I wouldn't want to give anyone the impression that your description of the game is accurate.
But this game is a cash grab, nothing different than the regular fighting game with characters and abilities....roll for attack... roll for deference... same old things with variant packaging. This is designed for the fan boys and girls who cannot resist collecting figure from their favorite scenery...
