I'm homeless. I have been so for 9 years. I have NEVER, NOT ONCE, begged nor asked for money. I even try never to ask for food, except when I need it. (The garbage never closes, and restaurants throw away tons of leftovers.) What I am saying is: everyone has their own problems. Don't judge a book by its' cover.
The people who should be ashamed are those responsible for unaffordable housing, medical debt (we are the only developed country in the world without universal healthcare) & overpriced everything these days. Not the homeless.
That was the smallest homeless camp I've ever seen in a major city, and I've seen some VERY large camps. If that's the worst you're seeing then Miami is doing much better than many other cities.
I was once a resident of OverTown and so was my mom and her two sisters. So, no one can explain the problems of OverTown than me and others who've been a resident of OverTown all of their lives. Homelessness have become a big problem over the paste 20 years with people coming here from all around the United States.
That is nothing when compared to homeless encampment in California , In California we have close to a million homeless and homeless encampment looks like a city especially in these cities, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and Los Angeles skid row.
Miami has done a much better job to address homelessness than other big cities. The people sleeping in streets has increased since Covid our biggest challenges are mental health treatment and lack of affordable housing.
I lived in Miami for two years and had nothing but bad luck, being homeless was part of my downfall. I NEVER EVER want to find myself living there again.......
This is result of increase rents, mental illness and drug use. Rent was affordable in 80s now it’s getting ridiculous. A single person can’t afford an apartment by themselves.
Homeless seems to be a huge problem throughout the U.S. and its getting worst every minutes. Overtown is going through major gentrification and its changing block by block.
It is a big problem in the United States, especially in Miami, Florida. OverTown isn't the most dangerous place to stay, it's a homeless place/city. I grew up in OverTown and so didi my mom and her two sisters. Homelessness became a big problem over the past 20 years due to drugs. Drugs have crippled many people who have come to Miami, Florida from all around the United States.
@@melissasturgis i guess you have seen the different cities in California. Homelessness in Los Angeles and oakland will make miami overtown look like kindergarten.
This crap is getting worse. I was down in Mississippi yesterday, in a rural area, and for the first time I saw a few homeless camps. I've ran into a few people asking for gas money at the stores more frequently also. It's about to hit the fan, even more.
Nah L.A is, the weather is even better and you can get a ton of free food out there. You just gotta pick a good spot to camp like if I went homeless i'd be living on venice beach lmao
Heat and humidity is not perfect to be homeless apparently you have no idea what your talking about. You can burn wood to stay warm you cant do crap about heat
Me,my brother Level, and a few other brothers where preaching 2 weeks ago on that block in the thumbnail. it was chaos with dem homeless folks. but by time my brother was done preaching the people were calm. The demon people left and the others remained and we prayed for them. powerful. praise the Lord Jesus
@@gigi1332 I suggest you spent some time in Miami first, people think they like Miami until they live there and understand the real Miami, you gotta understand the real miami and real florida vibes if you want to be certain, because the florida they sell is not the florida we are
@@gigi1332 Miami itself. Lived there almost all of my life from 1972 up until 10 years ago in 2012 when I moved here where I'm at now in Southwest Florida near Fort Myers in Lehigh Acres where I'm preparing now to move from. I am having to leave Florida all together because of the overbearing prices. Miami does have some nice area but the cost of living is crazy overinflated now and the traffic as well as many other things are just not worth it. My mother in-law and older brother still live in Miami. One near North Miami and the other near the South. I have other relatives from my husband's side that live in Homestead but already all own their homes. I seriously believe this place is going to sink! If not from natural disaster like a hurricanes or a tsunami, from the economic destruction of overpriced real estate and the lack of affordable housing for those who are needed to perform the jobs there for everyone to continue to function. The homelessness is nothing new, but as Jose shows in this video and what I know to be a problem only continuing to grow everywhere its way worse than we see and only going to get even worse. We left from there because of the crime 10 years ago. Its gotten 10 times as bad in 10 years and the rate of crime everywhere now is terrible as middleclass people are being driven into poverty due to the economy and inflation especially where the cost of living which is a person and families main importance. The governor is an a hole and all kinds of other reasons. It's sad to me because I loved it once upon a time.
i saw only one small homeless camp in the whole video and some people are calling this neighborhood skid row and the cleveland of the south. this neighborhood is nothing compared to skid row where you see miles of homeless encampments on both sides of the street.
I have been to a lot of cities and even miami hoods are well kept compare to other cities the streets are clean and the houses are not borded up I love Miami...
You are in Overtown, Which has a heart like none has ever seen, unless you too, have the fortunate view of it's real truth. A shelter over my head, a bowl of soup for my belly too, a coat when these nights get cooled a fan, for the heat. Hmmm You take yourself with you, wherever you go. Holy is worthy, I like the few of 7th avenue, Cab Drivers cab as well.Tell llitte hissy you got this, it's okay, give her a biscuit.
You missed a great opportunity to talk about Little Havana as you drove through it. Overtown is not the most dangerous place in Miami. Liberty City is worse. Historic Overtown is very nice. The boundaries are north, NW 20 St.; to the south, NW 5 St.; to the west, the Miami River and SR 836 and to the East, the East Coast Railway and NW 1 Ave. Average rent in Overtown is $1300 for one bedroom.
Is Katie una gringa??? You guys are alsome I watch all your videos, I live I Miami but went to school in Houston Texas. I sent videos from Houston it has changed alot since 1986.
@@user-bp9xp9ev5v It's an absolute travesty. They're going to have to start making mass arrests and get the drug dealers off the streets. Don't think any of that is going to happen this year though.
Lol there are literally few tents under the bridge, I guess thats completely normal in every bigger city, even here in Europe. Nothing which could compare with California for example. I was in Miami few weeks ago and it one of the cleaneat and safest cities I have ever visited.
If this is the worst of Miami then I should look into moving. There’s more homeless in the NICE neighborhoods of Los Angeles than all the homeless people I counted in this video … just wow. What a clean city Miami is .
I’m from Miami but I move 9 months ago and I love the change all my family still lives in Little Havana right by Flagler Miss my family but I love my changes nothing against little Havana I just think atlanta has more opportunities
@@gigi1332 Miami is a horrible place to retire. It’s overpriced and crowded. If you want to spend the same amount of money, be around less people and live in a more safe community, Naples is where ppl retire.
I watched this in hopes of seeing my father in law…. Tall white male, tattoo on left leg if I’m not mistaken… last seen by Jackson north… 😢 Steve is his name. Going this weekend to continue our search in hopes of finding him.
Miami has a lot less problems in terms of homeless camps than other cities....these streets which I have walked in my 10+ years living here are not that dangerous...... You describing the "mean streets" is comical lol
It ain't no safe neighborhoods in Miami even high end neighborhoods can be dangerous. The only way to escape danger if you move out west over to Naples. And the guy on the scooter is crazy riding at night i mean i wouldn't do it.
This is perfectly acceptable call the homeless hotline even though you don't have a social security number ask for Rodriguez green shirt City of Miami for a few dollars he can hook you up
I would like to see some more action. Nice to see the streets without going to Miami. But can you show some people shooting heroin ? And some sick and dying people in real life ?
Why would you want to see dying people? If you think about it… we’re all dying. But you’re weird though. If he shows ppl doing drugs, he’ll get flagged.
@@thegreatone5059 I dont want to see animals or good people suffer. I think addicts are selfish and they steal from society and their families, and they spread crime and disease. The nasty up the cities. They are a drain and the use the streets for toilet. The just steal. They dont work. They live on welfare or they steal. Seeing those people dying from drug use is interesting. It is definitely sad. But i dont think about the sad part of it, it is so amazing that it happening it is interesting. Yeah , i am curious. And not only curious about how they live and dye, what they endure dying of alcoholism, and their struggle to steal to get drugs and cigarettes and alcohol. They steal from their families even. Also curious by these areas are tolerated. And i also do not like rich people who build condos on the coast. That is how i got to this video, i looked up miami tourists swimming in sewer atlantic.
@@thegreatone5059 I think the cops and politicians allow drug and alcohol addiction. Not sure why, but all those addicts should be in a facility and they should never ever get out of the facility. Because in the shape they are in, locking them in a facility would be a gift, and if you let them out they will just go right back to stealing whoring and using. The fact that the govt allows those people to buy and sale drugs is really more weird than me. And all of society accepts the homeless addicts living in their filth and excrement. All these people are just as weird/guilty as me. And if you tube and society did not keep shutting opinions up then maybe there could be discussion and solution. But oh everyone has to only say what is acceptable to say even if is all lies. Any one who speaks the truth gets murdered or blackballed.
@@vectortiedye you do know you’re probably living against some of those addicts you hate? They’re probably just high functioning. I doubt homeless addicts get government assistance. Where is the govt sending their mail to?!! Stop being so judgemental
@@vectortiedye guess what?!!!! There’s politicians who are on drugs too. They just get covered up. The government allows this because… shocker… they make money from it too!!!!! So you’re saying bc those ppl are druggies… they should be caged up like animals? So should you for judging. No sin is greater than the other. Leave those ppl alone and get down off your high horse

You are privileged sir. You would not live their because you financially don't have to. Their our good families living in that community trying to survive the best they can. You sir sound kind of snobbish with a few comments you made. And me someone that use to live there take offence to what you said. Don't drive through our community with your snobbish nose in the air talking down on where we live our lives. I would not be surprise if you had a trust fund. If Overtown is to shady for you glide back to trust fund land.
