BigPapaDave flag was for block in the back, but during review they overturned it (which you can’t do). It was a prime example of refs physically giving the game to the other team.
Well any team that is down by a score with no time on the clock does laterals. Considering this is like 2 years old it’s not really suprising that it happened twice
Correct. The play-by-play announcer is Allen Bestwick, who was a NASCAR radio and TV announcer for over 20 years. He's been calling other sports for ESPN since the network dumped NASCAR after the 2014 season. The color commentator is Dan Hawkins, who is actually not related to NASCAR. He was the head coach for Boise State and then Colorado in the 2000's.
I remember watching this live. I was bored waiting for another game to start. Flipped through the channel and landed on this as soon as it was kicked. I was so hyped for two teams I didn’t care about
michaeag Really? It would have been classic had the officials said there was clipping AFTER mentioning there was no knee down and the coach seemingly celebrating prematurely.
Haha, How bout we put this one in the win column for Duke where it belongs and add Miami's National Championship win over Ohio State to Miami where it belongs. History corrected.😂 Another good one is Stanford and Cal trying to outplay the band on the field in the last minute. I believe a player knocked the drummer down, but they scored. Funniest ending in football history. I've watched it too many times to count.
Looks like the Miami Dolphins take a page out from Miami-Duke game. Appears the Dolphins learned from the Miami Hurricanes on winning a game with laterals. A Thrilling victory with no time on the clock
Except the canes were handed the game. The refs were suspended and fined for such terrible officiating after this game. Dolphins actually knew how to make the play work
I like it when the announcer prematurely says, "and for once there is no flag" at the 1:57 mark and the other announcer says, "there might've been one that just came out." Reminds me of the Miami championship game against Ohio State.
1:15 block in the back. Before one of the laterals knee was down, end of play guy with no helmet runs onto field. THREE penalties not enforced....and I am a Miami fan.
Kevin D'Sa The refs took away 2 Miami ints before this play even should’ve been necessary. There’s a reason why the refs got suspended and fired after this. Miami got fucked over the whole game with bs calls. Watch the vod again and say they weren’t biased, if you’ve got the nerve lol
i remember five years ago watching this game at my grandmas house when i was 10 clenching my teeth and watching them pull this off and i still get chills to this day go canes baby🙌🏾
as a pats fan from boston i whole-heartedly accept the L on that play. Absolutely the worst tackling and downfield coverage i have ever seen aside from this video
Except you were a bunch of bums and these are world class or near world class level athletes. Go get your elementary boys and try this Duke team. Hope you have insurance.
+Ektadizzle Slow down the video and watch when the guy goes down at 1:02 His knee is clearly on the ground before he laterals the ball, and the ref is staring right at him. That should have ended the game right there.
They called off 2 interceptions on Dukes "go ahead" drive that if called as they should've, would've made this play moot. The refs were absolutely terrible all game and it's only fitting that there's biggest screw up gave it to the team that should've won anyway. They were suspended for the following week by The ACC. Conferences govern their refs not necessarily the NCAA.
+Garland Ragland Miami got cheated before that kick off duke quarterback didn't score and those where not pass interferences by miami there was nothing wrong with the miami play only thing miami got away with is the knee but hey miami deserves it they have got cheated plenty of times before remember the Ohio state game it's about time something went miami lol karma is a bitch ain't it :)
I still remember this masterpiece. Being born in 2004, this and the Notre Dame blowout were possibly the best moments in my life. And then that year they lost 3 in a row, starting with a loss to a below .500 Pitt team and then a blowout loss to Clemson, and then another bad loss to Wisconsin in the orange bowl, and continual sadness. Actually I'd have to give my favorite hurricane game to when I got to go to the Russell Athletic Bowl against West Virginia. I'd say that putting up the least amount of points in a bowl game ever against Louisiana tech is rock bottom.
The next day the conference came out and said it should have been a Duke win because a guy was actually down with no time left before he lateraled, but the conference just didn’t change it (they could have though because the clock was at 0 when he was down). I’m a Michigan fan, so it’s not a Duke fan complaining. I just like it when things are correct :)
The same people saying all these missed calls are the same people that say football should stop enforcing targeting calls and go back to old times, where it was a 'real' physical sport.
@@Jukelikesgames I know i looked at the date and was like well at least it was 2015 maybe Dukes over it, then i'm like well its getting recommended to everyone so cheers to opening old wounds haha
As one of the few Duke football fans, I am still pissed that the refs for taking 15 minutes to review the play and not see the numerous problems. The most obvious one that triggers me is the extra man on the field. Although the referees were banned from the ACC, I believe that Duke deserved that win.
That play was a total elapsed time of 37 seconds! This level of lateral is pretty amazing. It reached a point where it was like a game of keep away. The defenders are sort of standing around unsure where to go. I know they don't practice for such a thing but at a certain point it became almost like basketball and everyone needed to go man on man. There were dudes just standing there waiting!!!!!
@@obcane3072 how could he not have control? He was running with the ball. Also, a commenter posted a GIF of the this tackle and you can clearly see his knee hit the ground.
@@jckdnls9292 It doesn't matter the circumstances even the announcers knew that was a clear block in the back they tried to pretend they didn't see it but made an "oooh" noise when they first saw it. Clearest block in the back on the play, all others looked fairly clean to me.
Every time Duke loses in any sport it just absolutely breaks my heart. I hope you can sense my level of sarcasm here because I’m laying it on quite thick.
All of these comments about the runners knee being down and blocks in the back and the refs getting suspended. How about the fact that Miami had 194 yards in penalties to Duke's 41. Even if they were legitimate calls (which they weren't ), how can anyone say that Duke was robbed? Miami had 3 consecutive pass interference calls on Duke's last drive but you didn't see any Miami coaches complaining. For the ACC to suspend those refs is ridiculous. They claim that the refs missed 3 calls on the last play. Really??? So, they didn't look at the other 20 plus flags that were thrown. No officiating crew see's everything. The only reason it's an issue is because it's Miami. If this were Alabama , Ohio St or FSU this never would've been an issue. It just would've been called 1 of the greatest plays in college football. Say what you will, Miami won the game despite all you haters.
2015 had a lot of crazy plays. This, MSU vs. Michigan, Georgia Tech, I remember watching one other crazy play the first week or two as well but can't remember the team. Ole Miss vs. someone I think...
Arkansas, the one dude that caught the ball on the long 4th down threw it behind him, it got to the running back who fumbled the ball after converting the 4th down but the Razorbacks still recovered
