How to lubricate the window tracks on your 90-05 Mazda Miata / MX-5 / Eunos Roadster without taking anything apart. No tools required.
I highly recommend that you only use silicone spray lubricant.

After 12 months of putting this "mammoth" task off, not wanting to remove door cards, 8 watch your video and 3 minutes later the window motors aren't labouring and the up down time is halved. Thanks for your tip!

Just went outside tonight with a headlight, a screwdriver, and a can of silicone spray. 10 minutes and this nagging problem on my passenger side is fixed. This is a great approach, not having to take the door panel off. Doing that could have caused more problems for myself in the process. Thanks!

This is the old guy method, and I'm an old guy. The young guy method is you take the whole door apart and take the window out. In that process, you might drop a small piece, which then bounces and hides under the tool chest, ten feet away. You get to spend 45 minutes looking for it and maybe never find it. You might break a small part, or maybe the glass will slip out of your hands and shatter. Now, you have a big problem! Old guys did the young guy method when they were young, and have learned to do the old guy method first, and if that doesn't work, then resort to the young guy method. The old guy method fixed my '03 so it works like new! Save yourself a lot of hassle and do this method first.

I don't usually comment on vids, but I must thank you for this one! This made it very easy and my driver's side window that could only open halfway until it felt like the crank would snap now opens all the way without much effort. A little more 'resistance' than the passenger side but the result is amazing. Much appreciated!

Thanks so much for sharing this. You saved me the unnecessary time pulling the door cards and future aggravation of the window binding as I'd probably have used lithium grease. Cheers!

Great short and sweet video. I was able to see that my bushings were intact and also notice the tracks were not gummed up, just dry. Saved me from having to remove the door panel. Applied lithium grease on the tracks and windows go up and down a lot smoother and faster. Also applied silicone spray to the rubber seals. I took a vid of before and after that I can send you, if you would like. Thanks again.

I did it! Good ol’ WD40 came through and did the job on my own miata. I was surprised at how well my windows open now, it feels effortless.

Brilliant, just fixed it, you can see the 2 tracks without removing any part, just push the rubber a bit (MX5 NB) !! Just look for the tracks with a flashlight (if you are indoor) and spray silicone oil. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did this and it definitely helped my passenger side window but now the driver side will only go up a half inch at a time. takes 5 mins to roll up. Why would this be?

Sounds like your window regulator may be worn out.

That was my question... how do I know when the tracks need greasing or the regulators just need to be replaced? Both windows go up and down very slowly. (I'm definitely trying silicone spray as soon as I get some!)
