MICAEL WIDELL didn't tell You this CRUCIAL HACK in Macro Photography! 

Thank you, Jens. I never heard about this advantage of the Raynox.

I was tempted to get one after Waddell’s video, but this is what just tipped me over into the “yes” category!

Kleine Korrektur: Der Raynox bei z.B. Blende 5.6 und 2:1 Makro hat zwar eine kleinere effektive Blende und ist daher weniger von Beugungsunschärfe betroffen - er hat aber auch eine kleinere Tiefenschärfe. Gleicht man die Tiefenschärfe bei gleicher Vergrößerung (also z.B. 2:1) durch schließen der Blende an, ist Beugungsunschärfe exakt gleich - egal ob man mit dem Objektiv auf 2:1 geht oder mit dem Raynox. Annahmeszenario: Die Linse ist bei Blende 4 und 2:1 Makro ohne Raynox. Die effektive Blende ist F11. Tiefenschärfe ist 0.3cm Die Linse ist bei Blende 4 und 1:1 Makro. Die effektive Blende ist F8. Mit dem Raynox springen wir zu 2:1 Makro, die effektive Blende bleibt F8. ABER wir haben auch nicht die Tiefenschärfe von dem nicht-raynox szenario, sie beträgt nur 0.2cm Öffne ich die Blende von Szenario 1 auf Blende 2.8, erhalte ich das gleiche Bild, mit der gleichen Tiefenschärfe (und Beugungsunschärfe) wie in Szenario 2. Schließe ich die Blende von Szenario 2 um 1 Blende, erhalte ich das gleiche Bild mit 2mm Tiefenschärfe (und Beugungsunschärfe) wie in Szenario 1. De fakto kann ich also mit dem Raynox nur Beugungsunschärfe "vermeiden" indem ich Tiefenschärfe opfere - bei Abblenden auf die gleiche !effektive! Blende, ist der im Video beschriebene effekt nicht mehr gegeben.

My raynox on my efs60 macro plus a 20mm tube has been giving me great results, even at high appertures of f11 and f13, I’ll have to try it with less magnification in the efs60, thanks for the tip… 👍

Interesting point. It's a shame you couldn't do it without sounding critical of Widdell.

To me, the most important feature no one seems to cover is the relative working distance when using the Raynox as compared to the Laowa alone. I use my Laowa set to 1:1 on extension tubes which gives a centimeter more space between the front of the lens and the subject compared to the Laowa alone at the same magnification. Will the Raynoz-Laowa combination you recommend give more working space or less? Getting light on the subject when only 2cm away is a problem even with most diffusers.

Are you saying the same applies to the Olympus 60mm F2.8? Or only the Laowa? Sorry if you already addressed this, I don't remember you mentioning it. But it makes sense!

I use the Nisi 77mm diopter...and they tell you to shoot at infinity...probably for the same reason.
