the ref did a bad job of explaining the rules. once the match starts you're pretty much allowed to do anything with your body. Arm wrestling is much more of a full body sport than people think.
This was in New York, the referee is Jack Arias, he was in the movie "Over the Top" with Sylvestor Stallone, and he's part of the New York Arm Wrestling Association
Lol what a cheat. In the first round with the right hands, Onyewu elbow comes off first and its a foul and no one wins, its 2 fouls then the opposite person wins the round. Second on the left hand round the, Onyewu's elbow comes off the pad before he wins. Also the MAIN CHEAT was the ref switches Onyewu's pad around for his left hand but doesn't for Micah. Obviously Onyewu would win because of the wrong angle Micah was in. The elbow pads always be on opposite angles and not in a straight line to one another as they were here. Totally fixed by the ref. Needs to be a Rematch. Was funny tho lol.
I dont know if he knew or not or just got lucky, but the guy on the left got into an amazing position to use not only his arms, but his shoulders too and thats why he won it.
