with Wings under that coat too, they show the bottom of the wings' tips btwn his legs as he dances. There's just something diffeirent in the way he moves that most don't have.
Oh, yes! I didn't think I could dance, so I took dance lessons in my younger years. My instructor brought the dancer out in me, lord have mercy! It's mostly about confidence.
Me too. I just loved its simple appeal. I seem to remember Michael smelled like a tray of freshly baked “cookies” too. I’d follow John Travolta anywhere on a Dancefloor.
There is such an element of joy in the way John Travolta has always danced. To watch a big man dance without fear of being effeminate is a thrill. This movie was one of my all time favorites because it was acted with the same joy of life.
In my younger (bar) days, I knew an old cowboy named Wayne who would have a similar effect on a bar room as this scene. He was a great dancer and would shamelessly dance with any woman who would let him. I asked him once how/why he learned to dance so well. He told me one of his previous wives in his younger days always wanted to dance, and at the time he was just a typical guy who just wanted to stand there being a wallflower and didn't want to dance. So she would tell him, "well fine then, I'll just go dance without you then", and go dance with whichever man was willing to dance with her. This made him very jealous, so he told himself, "Well, I guess I have to learn to dance now."... and he'd been dancing ever since.
I admire your story ,as I love to dance, and have experienced this in a man ,the jealousy since they didn't want to dance with me ,and not ever to slow songs or two step, just the joy of the dance floor and good music! Many Blessings to you and thank you for sharing !
Men have NO IDEA how attractive it is to be able to dance. Women just love a man who will dance with them. For a man to declare that dancing is ‘sissy’ is a big, red flag… A word of wisdom to all you gurlies out there…..😘
My auntie freakin loved this scene when I was a kid, and she always ask me " Oh dance with me like John Travolta danced in the angel movie" lmao it was annoying as a kid but now as an adult with her gone... I miss that so much.
This is a great scene. One of those women he starts off dancing with was his dance coach for the scene, I love also how his wings peek out from under the overcoat.
I could spend all day watching Travolta dance, he has that extra special something that only truly great dancers have, it’s totally mesmerising. He’s a great actor too and he can sing.
He had to dance in Saturday night fever.. on demonstrating his repatwar...he was basically told he was rubbish and every dance was choriagraphed for him.. same here
I’m 73, I would have joined John Travolta on the dance floor 40 years ago; I would do so today in a heartbeat. He’s memorizing when he dances, a real gift. The music is pretty good too…lol.
The SCENT! There’s a movie called The Scent of a Woman but I wonder how many guys know how much their scent and the timbre of their voice can affect us.
Why this John Travolta dance performance is not up there with Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Urban Cowboy, and those single scenes from Look Who's Talking and Pulp Fiction as one of the most famous dance scenes in movie history is beyond me. Criminally overlooked.
Hard for me to say which is my favorite....finale in Grease; free dance in SNF; contest dance in SNF; this one from Michael; the twist in Pulp Fiction.....
I love this guy. He's a huge star and still as humble and approachable as anyone could want. "Michael" is a great film, if you haven't seen it, see it.
I said, Hi to him at cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, that smile ,I knew I was in love 🥰 lol. That was in the 80’s. I truly enjoy watching him on film.
I love this moment in the movie, but the end where the other men go after Michael (without ever knowing they'd lost out to an Angel) so that his friends have to save him is also fun to watch. Thank you for sharing
Really, are you like 15 maybe. I’m not trying to be smart alex- it’s just it seems you haven’t been around much - at least not music videos. This is not the all time best music video. There are thousands much better. Now maybe it’s entertaining because of the song but I can’t see best all time music video. Even “one of the all-time music videos - is giving it more credit than I would. But each to their own. That’s what makes the world go round. Look at a lot more videos and let’s see if your opinion changes.
Aretha could/can get anyone out of their seats to this song! Even if you're sitting at a table, you know your body will be boppin' and swayin' and getting it on! Travolta is a natural born phenomenon - acting, dancing, looks, demeanor - he's got it all!
This is the man who started the Disco dance-craze with Stayin'Alive and who danced with Princess Diana at a White House State Dinner. Man ...... when you got it, you got it. ..... Go, John!
