@@j.f.4765 rickson ruiz is great but alba is on a whole 'nother level. Alba has great dynamics and feel. Rickson is also one of alba's students and it's safe to say he hasn't surpassed his mentor
eyy so happy you finally seen his video, he is a top teacher in the Philippine drumming community even well known to non drummers alike. He is a beast!
What amazes me most about this performance is that everything he did accented the song he was playing rather than just being "drummer get you shine on" type of performance. I'm in awe of the discipline it took to get to know the song that intimately.
I really love how he shift gears with his grip, hand and stroke depending on the required intensity and dynamics without changing the texture on how he plays. I can't explain it. Brilliant Filipino drummer!
I was one of his masterclass students like 7 years ago. He played this piece back then, but the way he plays it now definitely improved like 500%. He is constantly evolving omg.

I first saw Michael Alba with my own eyes front act to Steve Smith's Drum Clinic wayback 2003 in Shangri-la Manila. That time he was already a beast and keeps evolving until now.

I think it was better before when you spoke in past videos, the volume of the drummers, stayed the same. Now it's a struggle to hear the parts he played when you spoke. Because your voice is over powering the part he's playing whenever you speak. Just a heads up.
Obviously he overplays as he's showing off to an audience of drum nerds (as he should), but do people notice how GOOD the track is???? A proper studio recording would be EPIC.
