What a player. I bought his "Speed Kills" tutorial DVD, must be about 15 years ago. He shows exactly what he's doing, but it didn't help, I couldn't get anywhere near it.
I saw him at a clinic last night and he signed a bunch of our stuff (me and my father) too it's pretty insane what he can do with guitar especially when he brought the double guitar. We got his pick too!

I apologize to whomever is offended by this, but I truly believe this; he can play fast as hell, he can play anything, he can play with one or both hands, and he does half of it with his eyes closed. Who can do that? Satriani? Malmsteem? Buckethead? Nobody...nobody.

everyone that says "kirk's simpler shredding fits Metallica better than advanced techniques" should listen to this........ This fits so well!!!!!!! Imagine being Kirk Hammett watching this. If I was Kirk I'd be so embarrassed as a "lead guitarist" for being in a thrash metal band that prides itself on being fast. I do like Kirk's melodic stuff though, not trying to bash him as a musician, but as a shredder
I'm a big fan of metallica but I have to accept that metallica will never soud as good as this. those guitar solos are in another level. Kirk is a good guitar player but there is not point of comparison. To me, the best guitar players are Batio and Malmsteen.
Never forget, clean, fast imitation may sound sweet. But imho it can never beat the ability to create this music. That's why most guitarists haven't heard of Michael, yet most of the world has heard of Metallica👍
Kirk's technical playing abilitys are very compared for todays guitarists. All tough he made best slow guitar solo what i have ever heard of ( The unforgiven)

this shows you that just being technically good doesn't equal fame. its about feeling and great songs. technically he is up there but when kurt cobain makes millions and this guy plays to 20 people at a music store it shows you the differance.have to add if he enjoys the store circuit and makes a good living then maybe this is what makes him happy.
Bro, know your facts. He has toured in 58 countries, has his own signature guitar series, record label and a net worth of 7 million dollars.... He might not be as rich and famous as cobain, but he's not playing in that store because he's has to. It's because he wants to.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, and more than one of you will bite down hard, but the way the songs are written, and then with the shredding on top... Its like some one talking gibberish at 200 words a minute over the top of a good story... and for me , that completely fucks it. This isn't a Metallica Medley, this is some dingleberry doing shredding improv over the top of a backing tape. I don't deny that he's extremely skilled, one of the best no doubt.

No known players have ever successfully reached Level 4.

Someone needs to do a brain scan on Batio, so normal guitar player don't feel bad. He does things that are beyond normal people, I haven't decided if he is inspiring or not. He is amazing to watch.
maybe instead of insulting Metallica you should recongnize that michael is a fan of them otherwise he wouldn't be playing a medly of their songs. Clearly michael is amazing. Metallica is Metallica though and no one does it better than them. sorry bud!
@Glutonid Yeah, I know this, trust me; Rush is one of my favorite bands. I couldn't elaborate on my point because there's not enough room in RU-vid comment boxes. Aside from Batio's speed and technique, he also has masterful arrangements, incredible precision, and he's able to make seamless transitions from slow melodies to all out shredding. I'm also aware that the other virtuosos I mentioned are the same, but the fact that Batio can do it with his techniques makes him the best in my mind.
What a dorky comment well lets see wes montgomery was better al dimeolas better malmsteen has much better writing much better vibrato paul gilbert played speed kills recently better than he does pauls student buckethead plays exactly the same but knows more techniques randy rhodes was better in the 80s than batio was in nitro etc etc
Not about fame and fortune. If you love and feel the music you play, then it's well worth it

brandon harrison he plays literally all over the world for small crowds of guitar and guitar player enthusiasts. his style is not pop cultural friendly, that's why no one has ever heard of him. DragonForce, while gay as fuck, hit the same snag. their biggest claim to fame is guitar hero. Michael Angelo's claim to fame is a little known hair metal band called nitro. his status means nothing to him, inspiring people and teaching is what he enjoys doing.
@o0Slipdisc0o I respectfully disagree, Michealhas a "masters degree" in musicalcomposition and harmonony.I went on tour with him twice his live perfomances were mind boggling and his original music deep and complex. He was a perfect gentleman and took time to educate all the young guitarists. the guy was 5stars allaround.. the factthat hishand technique is so superb freaks many people out... but the guy isa solid muscian.
