I can't believe at that tender age his voice could already convey such depth of emotions-- he's either bloody good at acting or just sheer genius God sent, so humble as well. National treasure ; )
God given genius, no question, as he is on record as never having had a singing lesson before he was famous and he smoked! Note the very short end note. He had to work on this very hard.
I'm pretty sure I saw that too. It was live on Wogan and it caught my attention and then had me gripped. As an obvious newcomer I was horrified at the thought that being live in front of a television audience of millions, he'd got ahead of himself and was going to be incapable of reaching the top notes. By the end I was on tenterhooks and when he pulled it off I was ecstatic! Then, when he came off the stage to chat with Wogan and Andrew Lloyd Webber (who was already with Wogan), Andrew jumped up and pumped Michael's hand beaming with pleasure. To me it looked as if he was thinking, 'You're going to make me a fortune!' Sadly, the show itself was not so good but Michael never looked back and was swept up for Les Miserables.
@@jonc3295 True. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables...was written for a singer like Michael and none could do it better. I watched that show and there are two singers in it for whom the audience admiration is immense. Many people must have thought that Colm Wilkinson, stepping forward to sing Bring Him Home, was the king of them all but when Michael stepped forward for his big solo, the wave of love and admiration from the audience was like nothing else, surpassing that which met the mighty Mr. Wilkinson. Best of all though, was the way Michael took it. His heart was obviously bursting with pride and it must have lifted him like an angel ascending to heaven because his performance was, as you know, utterly stupendous.
I'm pleased to hear that and despite being in the entertainment industry for ALOT of years never met him ...ALOT NICER than the @rse ole who wrote it I HOPE !
"Love bursts in and suddenly all our wisdom dissapears".........WOW! Profound! I know that I've disobeyed my personal rules because I was in love, because, like the song says, my wisdom dissappeared. All the rules we make truly are broken when we fall in love.
His voice is a weapon that leaves one spellbound. As beautiful as this is here, I was lucky to see it live and truly could not even breathe when Ball sang this, the power increasing with each verse.
I disagree; I think it's a look of 'nerves'. What makes this an even more remarkable performance is that it was made only shortly after he'd been (well documented) incapacitated for almost a year with, for want of a better word 'stage-fright'/depression. I think he is totally amazing as he still suffers even now 27 yrs later but has ways to overcome it and always turns in superb performances. Even more 'top man'.
The music fits the lyrics perfectly, growing towards the key change. The lyrics are so simple but so true as if written from personal experience and Michael Ball delivers these 2 elements PERFECTLY. This song makes me hopeful, happy and sad all at the same time.
I absolutely love Michael Ball! The best version of this song was when he sang it for Andrew Lloyd Weber's 50th birthday celebration. Had goosebumps on my goosebumps!!!
Ohne Liebe sind wir nichts. Liebe ist eine Macht, die es nicht nötig hat, sich zu produzieren. Die viel aushalten kann. Ach wie schön diese Melodie zusammen mit dieser großen Botschaft. Liebe ist ewig.
I can relate this beautiful piece of music to my root childhood trauma. This is the first time I have listened to this since I left home at 14 years old. Today is a good day ❤ I have achieved what they say can’t be done twice …independently. Love changes everything ❤
My dad loved this song ...now I do.....RIP dad I miss you soo much !!!! Xxxxxx wait for me ....I always be a daddy's girl xxxxx love you mum ...xxxx hold my son tight don't let him go till I get there xxxxxxx
What a melodious voice! A beautiful song! Yes, “love changes everything”. And “Nothing will ever be the same when one falls in love”. Thank you so much ‘Roy John’ for posting the passionate and introspective lyrics! 🥰👍☺️
Yeah, I read that too! He’s a professionally trained actor and performer but never had a singing lesson in his life!! His voice is all his own! Vocal cords of pure gold!!!
@@iestynovich No he didn't, he chose to study Drama at Gilford because he thought it would give him more options when he graduated...only to leave and work almost exclusively in musical theatre :D What you hear here is natural talent and instinct.
This made me a huge fan. As a teenager I Even wrote him a fan letter lol. From Australia. Addressed to Michael Ball. West End London. And I got a reply !!
Love, love changes everything Hands and faces, earth and sky Love, love changes everything How you live and how you die Love, can make the summer fly Or a night seem like a lifetime Yes love, love changes everything Now I tremble at your name Nothing in the world will ever be the same Love, love changes everything Days are longer, words mean more Love, love changes everything Pain is deeper than before Love will turn your world around And that world will last forever Yes love, love changes everything Brings you glory, brings you shame Nothing in the world will ever be the same Off into the world we go Planning futures, shaping years Love bursts in and suddenly all our wisdom disappears Love makes fools of everyone All the rules we made are broken Yes love, love changes everyone Live or perish in its flame Love will never never let you be the same Love will never never let you be the same
