Hi Dr. Bird, I’m going to watch this a couple times to properly digest. And big props to you, because at 57:43 you helped me understand what Jesus meant about pouring new wine into old wine skins, and sewing unshrunk cloth on a new garment. I’ve been stumped on this saying for ages, and you just gave me the AHA moment, so thank you.

Dr Bird, You presented (at around 4 minutes) the "Paul within Judaism" school as teaching dual covenant theology, which asserts that Israel is "saved under their own covenant" and that the nations are saved through the new covenant. I think you have misrepresented the PwJ group in this regard. If I am mistaken, please provide references for your claim. (I suppose there may be some scholars within the PwJ school who hold to dual covenant theology but that does not mean such theology is part of the PwJ approach.) I submit that you have imposed your theology onto the claims of the PwJ school. Please consider that many Messianic Jews today seek to live in covenantal faithfulness to their heritage, yet trust in Jesus alone for personal salvation. They do not perceive Torah observance as having anything to do with meriting individual salvation from sin. You may interpret it that way, but I don't see that among the earliest Jewish believers in the NT--only in the "circumcision party" who were overruled. Sincerely, David Woods

Concerning this; Melchizedek, King - Priest - Messiah and the ransom for many. The whole idea of Ransom is to find an equivalent to fit the ransom demand. In our case the only equivalent would be a greater life and thus we find Jesus fulfilling this demand as a Priest after the order of Melchizedek and the power of an endless life. In the act of his self-sacrifice and in accordance with his father's will. The ransom is paid (in more than full) and all the forfeited lives of sin are redeemed. No earthly King could ever solicit such devotion, loyalty and love from his people. That's why the Son of Man is KING of Kings. Take time to express gratitude and thankfulness in offering a sacrifice of praise to Him who full-filleth all and all. For he is our God and we are his ransomed / redeemed people. How do you lecture on a subject matter that isn't factual? Let's us start with who is Paul the Apostle? But I guess the words in one books is enough for mass confusion
