Respect. Michael has his virtual skull cap or pre-ordered halo on (5.16) for the amazing and virtuosic Paganini meets 'trane meets Bo-Diddley tacet- warm-up at the inception of this Holy gig. James Genus is clearly a Genius, a modern Ray Brown; Ralph Peterson as close to a living nephew of Philly Joe-Jones and Tony Williams as you could probably get at the time; his samba at 24.20ish is like Lars Ullrich met Nana Vasconcelos for a jam and his fills in Mdme Toulouse verge on the impossibly good though i don't think he'd heard of pat metheny, lol. Brecker has an unlimited number of unlimitedly interesting musical ideas, and an unlimited number of hours of practice, an unlimited collection of 'trane albums and an unlimited sense of time, but had probably under-slept. Nevertheless, that tone on the swing numbers has got to be so Dexter Gordon by the end it is remarkable and Brecker sails through the performance at maximum quality level in every genre, so professional.. Joey can handle himself with the biggest of the big boys. Imagine coming on to a tune at 200 bpm after 8 minutes drinking Perrier? Heavyweight gig for arguably the all-round greatest post-'trane player. Peace
