The highlight of this concert for me is the sax drums intro with Michael Brecker and Antonio Sanchez in full on beast mode. Absolutely unbelievable!!

Really great, brought back a Coltrane/Elvin duets vibe.

The trumpet player at 40 minutes came out of nowhere... and was fucking perfect, amazing, concise. Wow. yea. As hard is Mike is to follow, good job. That is possibly the most well-balanced, exciting, solo I've heard in a long time. Kick ass.

"It's coming from a kind of a hybrid" says Brecker during the interview. That's spot on and exactly what makes Breckers music so exciting, refreshing and adventurous. What a special live performance this is. RIP you great tenorist, musician & composer!

Brecker at the peak of his powers. Nothing short of astounding. I've watched this concert a number of times now, and one of the things that I enjoy are the reactions of the guys and gals in the "band"! They are SO digging what they are hearing, It's commendable that they can maintain enough focus to not lose their place in the music and be able to come in on their next entrance, play their beautifully written parts, and not be 'distracted' by the genius tenor playing of their leader. In particular, I enjoy seeing the reactions of my friend Bob Sheppard (in the middle of the WW section) who is himself a world-class bad-ass tenor player and jazz musician. RIP, Michael.

I think that, after Trane, Brecker may be the best. It’s hard to say, there are a handful of saxophonists who are hard to rank, bc they’re all so incredible, but for my own personal rank, I put him that high on the list of GOAT jazz saxophonists.. RIP❤️♾
@DihelsonMendonca

And I even think that trane comes in second or third 🥉.

Hard to compare, but Mike was so influential on the vocabulary of modern players. More than just about anyone I can think of. Similar to Coltrane, who had a similar impact.

Ce ne sono diversi, ma perlomeno Wayne Shorter andrebbe menzionato subito dopo Coltrane, per l'enorme impatto che ha avuto sulla musica del XX° e XXI° secolo.
