I agree with the first part 100 percent but best character's kinda hard to give it to him when you got Tony Soprano, Vic Mackey, Dr. Gregory House, Adrian Monk, Michael Westen and Frank Pembleton etc. on the table.
The reason everyone was so emotional during his acceptance, aside from being happy he won, he was battling hodgkin's lymphoma at the time, hence the hat. Hes 100 percent healthy now! His mom beat breast cancer and his dad passed from cancer and he beat it. Long live the dark passenger
***** I agree. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Other great ones are Sons of Anarchy, The Killing, The Wire, The Shield, Deadwood and Vikings. All of these I couldn't get enough of..................
+Emperor Lelouch Sorry but the last couple episodes including ending were bullshit in Breaking Bad, same in Dexter but way fewer episodes therefore I still think Dexter is better. Also much more suspense and adrenaline than any other series. BUT the most intelligent and charismatic character ever is Patrick Jane no doubt.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that he’s still alive?? Having watched a lot of family die from Cancer this is how you look end stage and he still beat it which is fucking amazing
Hodgkin's lymphoma is treatable. The one-year survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma is about 92 percent. The five-year survival rate is about 86 percent...That's great odds. He lucked out.. Hodgkin's lymphoma is the best one if you had the chance to choose the type of cancer you'll have.
@@Mark12434 I never wished cancer on anyone...stop twisting my words...but my wishing doesn't matter..people still do get cancer..I just said you'd rather get hodgkin's than your typical lung, brain, breast, stomach or other types of Cancers.
Only ones missing are Jeffrey Donovan aka Michael Westen and Michael Chiklis aka Vic Mackey but of course this was after The Shield had gone off the air, but still those two are also some of the all time best.
The era also gave us The Shield, Burn Notice, Psych, White Collar, Medium, The Closer, Elementary and Person of Interest. That was a great time for tv dramas. All that said I would say that Blue Bloods is a great series today and is probably the only one worth anything imo.
The sincerity of joy and sadness in Jon Lithgow's expression is purely amazing to see. All the cast member looked to be happy for Michael but at the same time sad for the Cancer he had. It could have been his last award and they all shared that moment, regardless if his Cancer could be cured.
it's difficult for me to start a new series. i came 5 years late being able to marathon it in 3 weeks all for the 6th to air in mere weeks as well. since ive seen Dexter, its ruined me for any other series. he's my favorite super hero and i dont like typical heroes. typical non human or human super heroes whine too much about wanting to be human and have a normal life. however when Dexter longed for it, i ached for him to overcome even though i appreciated his vigilantism and loved his theatricality in the kill room. every moment with Micheal on screen is worth watching over and over again.
I can relate to it, gosh i wish there was some sort of season reboot with harrison and dexter being together. Just like God of War on ps4 sort of reboot.
I cried when I first knew Michael had cancer. He's such an inspiration to me, and an awesome actor and person. Some people say that "how do you know he's a good person, you don't even know him!", but I know that we and all Dexter fans simply don't need to meet him to know that he's fucking amazing. I really, really love the man. Thank you Michael.
So heartwarming to see the love and appreciation that John Lithgow has for him here too. The two of them squaring off against each other in S4 was pure magic. It takes two to tango.
Not everyone can beat cancer, but I’m so glad someone who does is still healthy enough to do the thing he loves doing, and can also get the chance to come back for another season. A lucky life, but a strong person to live it
Michael is a very good actor and is proven, but with his wife Jennifer Carpenter he misbehaved because he took care of him when he was diagnosed with cancer and when he was cured he was unfaithful to Julia Stiles, so that Jennifer divorced.
He's a natural fighter,he beat cancer and he survived. He is an amazing actor and he seems a great human being and I'm very proud of him, thank you for Dexter,we can't thank you enough. He's a role model and a living proof as well
How can one go back to watching any tv show after Dexter?? The show makes everything else look like crap. It's even creepier when I found out that "Trinity," John Lithgow, is a children's book author lol.
Carlos De La Rosa - so true, like w/other shows, such as: The Walking Dead" and "The Hunger Games" ~ Both are great, but that greatness that could of been increased on its own, has been ruined by the overreaction how 'great' they are. ~ They are PHENOMENAL - but that 'amazing' factor is ruined b/c of the ridiculous level of hype - which is blown WAY out of proportion.(aka 'die-hard fans,' who are taken over by an obsession that overgrows the product). ~ I'm def. being biased though - b/c I never understood the 'secret ingredient' of those shows - that make them so tasteful (like true fans do). ~ I'm also being hypocritical because the same exact thing can be said about me when it comes to "Dexter." ~ So I guess it comes down to a person's preference of how they enjoy a show based around the material used, the acting, and the consistent quality. For shows like "Dexter," "The Hunger Games," "Sons of Anarchy,""Dr. Who," & "The Walking Dead," to maintain a growing fan-base and continually outdo themselves, is AMAZING. I met Norman Reedus and he is soo cool. ~ I'm not sure why, IMO, that I find Dexter to be more interesting than the other 'BIG" shows, but it's just a matter of personal taste - that's why everyone is different and has different likings. But when it comes down to that, and you find a massive following, you know that there's many common elements that people are all fond of. ~ I guess another contributing factor, is that since i didn't have HBO at the time, and discovered 'Dexter' on my own - with only hearing the name from time to time - made it that much more special. ~ With shows nowadays, having HBO, and all the social media that's developed, you have people telling you that YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS SHOW - which hypes it up like no other, and is also unattractive and I've become sick of the show - before I even give it a chance/watch it - due to so much talk about how incredible it is. ~ There's "loopholes," in areas such as "The Dark Knight" - which many people might consider overrated (I thought the movie was pretty good but it's really Heath Ledger that makes me want to rewatch it), because of the fact that 'Batman' has been around for so long and I loved it ever since I was a kid.
Wow, everything you said is true. Dexter is my favorite too. Is a unique show. Every kill is different and memorable. Every conversation Dexter has with his victims before killing them is just something you'll never find in other shows or movies. You see the life of a serial killer and you are there with him all the time. You become part of him and he becomes part of you. In the end we are Dexter's best friend cause he tells us everything he can't tell to other people. It is a matter of personal taste as you said and we have to respect people's opinion. It makes me happy when I hear someone say Dexter is their favorite show too.
Rewatched the show and I actually found it to be more immersive and entertaining in that final 3 seasons (that everyone has a problem with) as it began to gradually develop dexter as a person that’s even more relatable than we thought. That character and interpersonal development as well as his internal/external struggle is what made the show even better and gripping as it went on in the later seasons. Michael C Hall is one hell of an actor through and through. If writing didn’t do this show any justice toward the end, his acting sure as hell did.
he deserved all the credits. he is a brilliant actor.. and producer.. even though he was going through a serious illness.. he really has an amazing, amazing talent!
Lol no it doesn’t ! Seasons 3-7 are the best. The first two were boring. And even though I like the actress who played Rita I was glad she got killed. It actually became interesting after that. They made her character so annoying from a battered woman with history to an annoying spoiled woman who got mad if Dexter didn’t bring milk within 10 minutes...they ruined her character. It became less “soap-opera” like when she was killed.
yeah, and she wanted kids, and he said that they would have a family, but after they were married, he had changed his mind.. so thats another reason, oh well.. her and seth are adorable together now
Marriage is insanely difficult, especially for them (for a number of reasons put together) I think people confuse ending of marriage with love ending completely. And it doesn't actually work that way.
I'm sooo happy this show returned for a season 9. At the time of this post, only episode 1 had released and it is INCREDIBLE... the writing/acting is perfect.
It could happen. Because as far we know, they ended it on a cliffhanger. His son is in Argentina, he is working as a truck driver. there might be an another season. Hope they bring it back. my favorite season was 4th what about you guys ?
Passano gli anni ..ma Dexter appassiona ed emoziona sempre. Michael è un grandissimo attore…niente da invidiare ad un mito come Jack Nicholson! Bravo bravo bravo❤️
Michael C Hall. Love you and your show...you and John Lithgow made masterful "music" together in season 4. What a pure joy it was to see such extraordinary performances.
Simon Baker from the Mentalist, Hugh Laurie from House and Michael C. Hall from Dexter... Like a lot of people said in the comments, some of the great main characters and actors in a TV series drama of all time nominated, but definitely well delivered to Michael for his work as Dexter, what a performance and while fighting a serious illness. Also these 3 shows are the only ones I have watched more than once...
Don Draper, Patrick Jane, Gregory House and ofcourse Dexter Morgan... These were the years the Television screen blinded me. I don't regret knowing THEM... instead of my two ex-girlfriends.
but oh my god was this a hard decision dude, four best actors in tv shows that were huge in that century, simon in mentalist, michael in dexter, john in madman and hugh in house, jesus christ that is just like 4 out of 8 best tv shows ever
Breaking Bad gets quickly boring. Too much realism and only Aaron Paul was great actor to me. Dexter is on a whole new level. You either adore it or hate it. Awards mean totally nothing to me.
Unlike breaking bad were it knew were to stop, Dexter dragged on unnecessarily after season 4. I thought season 4 had a really good finale and in season 5 they could have wrapped it up.
@@MrRafa1919 the acting from the whole main cast of breaking bad was amazing, it deserved all the awards it got, season 5 is debatably the best season of any TV show. It was never boring not even on it's worst episode. Dexter ended so badly it needed to come back 8 years later to go out on a better season.
Michael is a great actor, he deserved the golden globe award. The season 1-8 was great. It's important to understand the context of Dexter and see all of the implict message of the show. I disagree completely with all stupid person who say that Dexter was good only until the 4 season.
Just finished watching Dexter again in 2018...by far the best series ever!!! It’s crazy because I loved him in 6ft under n felt the same way when it ended (totally heartbroken). But Dexter is absolutely my favorite show of all time
