I love how he's so unabashedly emotional. So many men wouldn't want to admit that they were crying, but Michael seems not to be ashamed of his feelings at all.
575goofy, I can't thank you enough for posting this. Watching this made me SO happy. You could see Michael biting his lip and crying through the wig and mustache. He was still so funny with his Palladium comment even though he was so moved and was crying. How sweet of it when he put his arm around Danielle? Also, Andrew's comments were really lovely. It's so wonderful to see how loved he is by the fans.
This is wonderful ! Although I couldn't be there to experience the magic of last night, this video brought the magic to me. Thank you for sharing Michael's birthday
Sally, me too - I'll be at the 2/3 performance as well. Yes, thank you, You Tube. I've been able to see some of Michael's performance in POTO (not the same as live, but still close enough) and I'm grateful for that. Plus, there is a huge amount of clips showing rehearsals, etc... - it's just a fantastic resource.
Terri North1 second ago Thank you, Michael! For all of the fantastic emotions you've drawn out of each and every one of us with your God sent amazing talent!
I don't think most of the audience knew it was his birthday - when ALW announced it, boy, the roar was huge. He really is a giant teddy bear - and is particularly adorable and huggable when he's tearing up and biting his lip. Between the Phantom 25 and this, Michael has had the chance to see for himself how loved he is - that's pretty rare. Goofy, will you be at his last performance? I'm flying from NY for that - I think I might need to bring a box of tissues.
He doesn't look or act it - it just goes to show how incredibly long and prolific his career has been. I'm sad that he's leaving WOZ, but excited to see what is on the horizon
I'm planning on coming over for the last performance--and a couple before that :-) I expect not to be able to see through the tears when the orchestra plays "Home is a place in your heart" after the curtain calls. Thanks for the videos, and thank goodness for youtube. All that existed of Michael's stage performances before youtube (other than Barnum) were some bad bootleg videos and whatever film/tape RUG might or might not have.
Goofy, yes I am going - I'm looking forward to meeting you. You are a treasure for posting these videos... I'm not good at waiting as I have no patience, but I have no choice but to wait and see. It's kind of exciting actually - based on interviews, he's ready to do something more. WOZ was great, but that was for his grandkids and it's not the most challenging role. Whatever he does next will be for himself - let him sink his teeth into some meatier material.
Yes, Michael is an introvert. Although I missed him in POTO, I have seen him in concert many times and was in his fan association for a number of years. His talent, voice, acting skills, humor and dedication are impeccable. A very gentle, kind, caring, humble man. I will always love him dearly. ❤️
@Deborah Earle: Where have you been? Brilliant Michael Crawford [ actually written either Michael Crawford, CBE, OR ( Sir ) Michael Crawford, ] by the time of this performance / birthday celebration, was ALREADY knighted - had been for MANY years. He was awarded an OBE ( Officer of the Order of the British Empire ) knighthood, in 1988 - for services to England, and charitable works. Then, in 2014, his knighthood status was upgraded to CBE ( Commander of the Order of the British Empire ) - for philantropic works and further charity work ( especially children's charities. )
@@robertc.1958 - You don't understand the Honours system. The grades go MBE -> OBE -> CBE ->KBE/DBE. The title of knight, i.e 'Sir', goes with the KBE (or 'Dame' for a DBE). The honours are not given out as a surprise award. The potential recipient is notified beforehand and has to be willing to accept the offer. To a certain extent the offer of honours doesn't always seem logical. People with 'skeletons in the cupboard' may be passed over altogether and the public never knows why. However in Michael's case I think it is just a question of time. I think for some entertainers (actresses with Damehoods seem exempt) a knighthood is seen as tempting fate. Quite often a public figure receives an honour and shortly after dies (mainly because the awards people had got wind that he/she was seriously ill). Theatre folk are a superstitious bunch.
@@chrisnorton4382 Huh? Your reply makes NO sense. Because - it is NOT "...a matter of time." Michael Crawford, as I said in my reply to Deborah Earle above, is ALREADY a Knight. And yeah - I know that about the receipiant has to accept being knighted ( a FEW people have actually declined the honor, ) and not have skeletons in their closet ( cupboard. ) And, no - I had the order right. I even looked it up. Google IS your friend. It's MBE ( but is OFTEN skipped over ) ->OBE -> CBE -> KBE ->GBE.
@@robertc.1958 - Why Google? It is MBE up to OBE up to CBE up to KBE, which is what I wrote. He is not a KBE yet, therefore he is not yet a knight. The knighthood goes with a KBE (that's what the K stands for - Knight Commander) not the lower grades, a CBE is a high honour but not yet a knighthood. My reply is correct, so I don't know what you are misunderstanding. From your spelling of 'honor' I assume you are American - take it from an Englishman I know how the British Honours system works.
@@chrisnorton4382 Whatever. Seems that, at least honorifically, a MBE, an OBE, or a CBE is STILL called ( Sir. ) Case in point - see famed, British, singer-songwriter Paul McCartney, MBE. And, yeah, I AM American ( although I currently reside outside the U.S. ) Never been to England. Although would like to go. My ancestors are from there.
Because when Dorothy leaves Oz she arrives back in Kansas and they go back to being Hunk, Hickory and Zeke so they have to take off their make up, but for the curtain call they come out dressed as the scarecrow, tinman and lion :) x
Goofy, then I apologize to all those fans who knew it was his birthday - I'm sure they've been fans longer than I have, lol. Even through the video, which tends to mute noise, you could hear how loud the audience was - good for them. I wish I could have been there to see the cute little smile, lol. Yes, I just joined MCIFA - in fact, I got my initial package on Michael's birthday! Feb. 5 is going to be very sad, but I expect he'll be performing again - he clearly wants to.
