Eddie Glaude is the voice that we need to hear. We have got to think deeper and stop looking to the DEMOCRATS or the REPUBLICANS to fix our situation. They have historically proven that they will not!!! We need some new ideas and plans for helping our people.
@@juliansearcie1758 I agree that we have to get our own lives in order, and when we have done that we need to reach back and help others who are still in need. My husband and I are college graduates and our daughters graduated from Fordham Law School and Columbia University. I am concerned for those among us who need to be given a break and inspired to excel. That is the kind of help that I received and I think we need to keep making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Now that Trump is in office I give Dyson more applause then Glaude.....If we don't get the lesser of 2 evils we get the worse is that better in the long run....I doubt it...
Frank LaRossa You’re probably not Black and we don’t see a huge difference than when Obama was in office. Prof. Glaude is CORRECT!!!! Black Americans are no longer going to vote AGAINST a candidate; WE WILL VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE who is OUR CHOICE not out of fear to help put benefits on others’ doorsteps! We are ADOS and WE’re COMING!!
He’s competent that’s why; incompetence is the first ingredient who make people sale their soul, look at trump administration full of garbage brain people
Michael sure uses a lot of words to get a point across and he’s not a good listener. I like Eddie Glaude, he presents his points clearly and without all the extra verbiage that Michael brings
The idea of voting for the lesser of two evils is the most foolish thing I have ever heard or in the least in lock step with it. Assuming we accept the narrative of American exceptionalism and that we are all of the great things that people speak of. How do we reconcile that with the fact that the final two candidates who are supposed to represent the best of what this country (corporation) has to offer is relegated to one the lesser of two evils? As I am writing this in 2019 Drumpf lost by the largest margin in history to Killary, but the electoral college chose him anyway, so where does the voting for the lesser of two evils come into place! How did Drumpf winning become such a major threat to black folks as Dyson would put it? Dyson is bought and paid for and I don't see him putting the same fervor now against abolishing the electoral college. PEACE!
Country Jimbo awww poor Jimbo! And you thought it was just their d**** that were bigger! What a blow to your fragile white supremacist construct to realize their brains are bigger too!! 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Glaude was on point here. We NEED more conversations like this on television. Can you imagine an intelligent conversation like this taking place on any mainstream media channel?
It should happen, but I think we don't see it is because it doesn't make for good television, and all they seem to care about are ratings. Thank god for Democracy Now, the Real News etc.
Nah. He didn't then, and Dyson's savage ownership of this clown gets more severe as the months pass and prove that Dyson was prophetic and correct. Glaude works for the other team. He has no credibility in the black community. White _wannabe woke_ liberals love him tho….
I used to joke that Bill C. was in a New York bar somewhere when his wife became a senator fron NY of all places, telling some young female, "Hey Baby, I used to be the President."
Yes. Dyson has a hyper-aggressive hot air style, that he uses in an attempt to suck up all the breathable air in the room. Glaude killed it, for those who listen for substance.
@@marcoortiz8046 - She knew better. It was intentional. She tipped her hand with that clip of Barack she showed, and the way in which she introduced it. It was like a professional tag team wrestling match, in which she had Barack queued-up to jump in real quick, with an assist for Dyson. I speak highly of Democracy Now, but I feel that was a shameful moment for Goodman. She was clearly a member of Camp Fear and Later-ism.
Torrie Walker so do we not participate in voting? That’s the question, what Dyson was basically saying is you still need to participate for the greater good as an American citizen. The community can’t complain if you’re not participating.
@@shaunmc013 we don't win in the so called "greater good". The moderator asked Trump and Biden in the first debate did they believe that there's systematic racism against blacks..they both said yes..we need liberation not equality.
@@torriewalker2820 everybody knows there’s “systemic” racism (not systematic). Can you advise me of what kind of “liberation”, is anyone truly stopping us from being liberated? Isn’t within ourselves to be liberated as well? Who’s literally stopping Torrie Walker from reaching his utmost potential in this world?
An ordained minister. On his third marriage… why? Georgetown University's student newspaper The Georgetown Voice reported in June 2021 that the University had launched an investigation into Dyson in February 2020 in relation to allegations that Dyson harassed and tried to initiate a romantic relationship with one of his students at the University. Subsequently, Crystal Fleming also accused Dyson of harassing her as a graduate student.[24] Students at Vanderbilt, where Dyson accepted a position in 2021, have accused the school of "fail[ing] Black women" by hiring the alleged predator.
the media built Trump's victory, the media defeated Bernie and obfuscated Jill Stein. Michael Eric Dyson is here making it very difficult for Eddie Glaude to make his points about not voting out of fear. Dyson is hogging and manipulating the show.
Alex Lyndhurst Free SUGE!! You're being facetious, correct? Both of these brothers have doctorates. People who earn doctorates have to be tremendously intelligent. Very few people have doctorates, especially African-Americans. Whether you agree or disagree with their rhetoric or political, economic or social stances, their academic prowess, engineered by mental power and proficiency, cannot be denied.
Teach Eddie!!!! Eddie has Dyson "buckling", Dyson keeps interrupting Brotha Eddie..... Dyson doesn't want Eddie to start chipping away at Hillary Brilliant Brothas....they respect each other too
Why is Dyson no longer at Georgetown? An ordained minister. On his third marriage… why? Georgetown University's student newspaper The Georgetown Voice reported in June 2021 that the University had launched an investigation into Dyson in February 2020 in relation to allegations that Dyson harassed and tried to initiate a romantic relationship with one of his students at the University. IMO, Eddie is the sober realist here who clearly expresses the facts and truth. Michael on the other hand, defends corruption and corporatist enslavement via a smokescreen of arrogant, confusing and incomprehensible words.
Dyson is too smart to actually believe anything that comes out of his mouth, no matter how in love with his own voice he is. Total and complete intellectual dishonesty. An apologist for power, nothing more.
He is doing it on purpose in order to get access to the neoliberal right-wing of the democratic party. His writings before Obama were excellent and when reading it, you get the sense that he would never take the positions he has taken post Obama. Cornel West and Tavis Smiley already exposed him various times.
Dyson refutes his own points throughout the video. His answer to what does it mean that Hillary is is the poster child? According to him, the vulnerable will get representation. But based on reality (which he advocates so much for), that has not happened and will not happen in the future. What a joke.
winterland6977 my thing is. there's no blacks ready to go to WAR WITH HIM. he out there speaking and trying to bring blacks up both of them. They picking different ways to do it. Dyson is going to get farther because he's playing the game but he's still for blacks. Mean while the BLACKS R STILL SCARED AS SHIT TO DO SOMETHING WHITE PEOPLE STILL DO WHAT THEY WANT AND WE STILL ALLOWED THEM
I'm not here to say who won the debate. I'm a fan of both guys. But to see two smart intelligent black brothers speak their mind in a positive way and not shouting over each other is great!🙌🙌🙌
Allow me to paraphrase the discussion in one sentence: "So, black people, I agree with Eddie Glaude when he says Clinton is a corporate candidate who has done nothing in her forty years of politics but supported policies which hurt African-American communities but it's time to line up and vote for the Democratic Party one more time in order to defeat proto-fascist Donald Trump." - Michael Eric Dyson
Micheal Eric Dyson sure does use a lot of words to express the usual apologetics for Hillary - don't blame her for Bill Clinton's policies (even though she often takes credit for them when its convenient), we have to defeat Trump at all costs, its OK that Hillary's a corporate shill because every one else in Washington is, etc. All style very little substance.
Yet another cowardly Hillary supporter, who can't wait to surrender so that he can surrender again in another four years, and another four after that, and four later, until he is in a habit of surrender. However, we're starting to get arrests for election fraud, and a Chinese billionaire was arrested for bribery and will be questioned about his role in helping the Clintons violate campaign finance laws. If they're willing to arrest a billionaire for mere bribery, how long can Hillary stay above the law? If Hillary goes down, the cowards will have to vote for a decent candidate if they want to stop Trump. Though most likely they'd just switch to Trump instead.
💭 We Should Do Write In Votes for 1st Lady Michelle Obama......I'm in Columbus, Ohio. Most of the mixed groups if people I know-know,-know say they are either not voting or are voting for "No Choice Hillary Clinton"; the better of two candidates who are not worthy of a vote. *I believe we don't have to take it, we can vote someone-else in. I'd go for a write-in vote for 1st Lady Michelle Obama. She would be much better & knows the ropes already!
I deeply agree with you. The best solution is to take Trump out of White House. The man is a RACIST. He doesn't have the skills to interact to a diversity world. As he always say that "people from shitholes and go back to Africa" and we say "go back to Trump empire"
What Michael Eric Dyson said is "abstract democracy", people in other countries called it Democracy. It's not a dream. And another thing: If your debate was on Obama's legacy, don' t turn the conversation on Trump fear, just because you cannot defend your points. Just sain'
Dyson said Obama was more pharaoh than Moses even before he was elected. It wasn’t about his being hamstrung, but rather his unwillingness to properly address and correct the systemic problems that Black people face. Glaude was on point in reference to Hillary’s apathetic record, and Dyson’s aspirational rhetoric.
James Gray Yes he does, unfortunately, too many of us have fallen for the packaging and presentation than the substantive return on their political investment. None of Dyson’s establishment pandering surprises me. He’s now talking Biden up the same way he did for Hillary in 2016.
I still love dr dyson, you just did not understand the reality in which he was speaking. Bobo the clown or the man that was raised by a criminal, and has been a criminal all his life, I'm voting for bobo the clown
Dyson was put on the defensive which is why he continue to disrupt Eddie gluade who definitely made more sense in respect to rising above a slavish devotion to the Democratic Party.
Why is Mr Dyson no longer at Georgetown? An ordained minister. On his third marriage… why? Georgetown University's student newspaper The Georgetown Voice reported in June 2021 that the University had launched an investigation into Dyson in February 2020 in relation to allegations that Dyson harassed and tried to initiate a romantic relationship with one of his students at the University. @@blambrax 🤣 You ever heard the concept of saying a whole lot of nothing? Malcolm X said make it plain. Who cares if someone uses a buffet of words? Make the word salad make sense. Ya digs? 🙂
Did Eric Dyson at 21.52 just said black people do not understand nuance. Maybe ordinary black people need to get out of the churches, if this is an example of what they are getting.
As horrible as Donald Trump is I’m still with Eddie Glaude on this. Electing Obama, Hillary and Trump is more of the same. The fact of the matter is at this point w the state of things hopefully the Democratic Party will be forced to move all the way left and focus on the poor and marginalized communities period point blank!!!
Mr. Eddy was spot on and Mr. Dyson was quite condescending and came across as self-promoting as the voice of our community instead of being one of many mouthpieces
It's unfortunate how often Dyson resorts to straw-man arguments - namely, acting as though all of Glaude's carefully explained points are invalid because Cory Booker said good things about his book.
Ceasar carcus he’s got a lot to say; but he’s completely in error here. I don’t accept the notion that the LESSOR OF TWO EVILS is the educated option under any circumstance
And now, in the year 2022, after witnessing how everything played itself out politically, it's absolutely clear that Professor Eddie Glaude had the correct argument here. Beware folks like Professor Dyson, playing on solely your fears and telling you "now is not the time".
I truly understand both points. Eddie Glaude is saying no trade off when it comes to Trump nor Hillary. We which I mean as black folks, we are our own worse enemy. Getting black folks together and focus on the needs of what we need to do. It's not an easy task. So many of my black folks are caught up in this systemic and slave mentality. So what are we to do.
Every day we work on taking a step forward, whether it be an inch or a foot. The whole world has been deceived. But we have come this far when a great many have perished and fallen by the side, yet we still strive my blessed sister.
Michael Eric Dyson needs to have his hearing checked as soon as possible. There are so many times during this debate that he was CLEARLY not listening to Glaude
his only argument to vote Hillary: stop Trump. It is a very sorry state of affairs to push a candidate in such a way; she is terrible, but Trump is worse
***** Have you seen her VP-pick? And the outlines of the transitional team she's putting together? - very pro-TPP - very pro-Fracking - very pro-Wall Street - very against net-neutrality I'm sure Clinton is behind the scenes pushing Obama to sign TPP in the lame-duck session, so she can claim innocence. She is pivotting to the very right, and she knows she can, because people like you will vote for her regardless, just because you have been made to fear the Trump. Vote Clinton, and be prepared to spend the rest of your life in indentured servitude to the (international) corporations
I'll take Hillary over Donald any day. Trump is not morally inclined to assume the position of president in a America where 50% of minorities are in a stagnant conditions in a socioeconomically arena.
How did that work out?? Jobs are booming for African Americans. Highest employment rate in decades. Oh well, nut jobs here spouting insipid and broken socialist ideas and class warfare. Divide and conquer. The highest priority of the left.
It’s such a beautiful thing when you heat two African Americans men are able to agree/disagree on such an important state in which there’s no hard feelings. When you know what you are talking about respect and understanding has a place! No harm, no foul. Thank you both for telling your people the truth about politics. Go blessed, and please continue, to share the true of “white politics “!
I don't like Dyson. I love Eddie! As a black woman, I don't need anyone to speak or think for me. Dyson needs to STFU. I hope feels stupid that Hillary lost to Trump...with ALL THAT BLACK SUPPORT!! 😒
@@edwinamendelssohn5129 Do you say that about Obama. He's a master of words. I use robust words as well. I love the fact he's a wordsmith. Nothing wrong with that. He's also a lover of Hiphop. Words. It's not showing off. Do you also say that about White folks who kind of speak properly. That's Dyson's niche. It's inspiring actually. Plain is to mundane. I disagree with you vehemently about that. It's not the words that make you intelligent. It's your actions.
I'm with Eddie Glaude all the way. I have never nor will I EVER vote for the lesser of two evils. I have morals that I stand by....And this means I do not reward evil with a vote...no matter WHAT party they affiliate!
@ MsFreethepeople I like your thinking. Our vote is leverage and power, and it should be highly esteemed, cherished, and guarded no less than we esteem and guard our integrity. Give me the Eddie Glaude’s of the world. Love his philosophy, integrity, and strategy. ‘The lesser of two evils’ philosophy has failed, for what, almost two centuries now! The whole act and idea of choosing ‘the less of two evils’ is unadulterated self contradiction. Can you imagine it, “I hate you less than this guy hates you, vote for me.”! Death is better than a vote for either of such ‘candidates.’ Glaude has substance and life in his words, Dyson only has words. Enough already! Down with the race and poverty pimps of the world... calling Michael Eric Dyson!
DR.GLAUDE you have my respect on this one. Your ideology was sound and is well researched. Dr.Dyson isn't using any facts to inform his decision besides a very warm view of history and appeals to emotion/religion. Thank you Dr.Glaude for standing up for black folks.
I just discovered Glaude a few days ago when I watched a couple of clips on MSNBC that were utterly electrifying. This man is stunning; his insights rich in wisdom, sharply intelligent and beautifully human. One clip was about the apartheid state Israel's latest crime against humanity: the massacre of 58 Palestinian men, women and children who committed the "awful" crime of protesting about Israel's ongoing abuses, which, by the way, SHOULD BE CONDEMNED BY ALL, How the right wing I sraeli government can emerge from the ashes of the holocaust and turn around and commit THE EXACT SAME types of crimes against humanity againstn another race floors me Our government's acceptance of Israel's behavior is equally jarring. . In the clip, Glaude--flanked by two MSNBC anchors, Katy Tur and some other woman--had a kind of emotional outburst in response to the utterly stunning indifference displayed by the other two, whose only reactions and responses to this awful crime revolved around the effect it would have on the 2020 election. It took the presence of Glaude at that news desk to illustrate the complete lack of empathy for others so many people have. All because it doesn't affect them. All because the victims are The Other. Thank God for people like Glaude--and Dyson. E
