One way to look at it - it's big USA problem when in most places drugs are illegal too. Could it be that USA got too much drugs coming in and too many dealers? I don't know the USA education on drugs though, sometimes you learn enough to not try once.

He makes kind of a point. Up until the 2004 election you had conservative democrats and progressive republicans. Eisenhower was a progressive republican. California was a red state until 1992. So given that Michael is like 70 years old, this isn't too far off of a statement.

@@PardonMyPresence While I agree that Franzese using his mob strategies in the "civilian world" and I have a suspicion that he has ties to the ideological trendsetters of the republican party (based on some of his videos) I don't think he was involved with drugs. When he was around, drugs were a massive no in the italian-american mafia. Yes, there were members dealing with it, but that was punishable with death. From two reasons really. One is that it attracted way too much police attention and two because the older guard thought it would poison their own neighborhood. In the end, money proved to be more powerful, but this was after Franzese really (he was in prison by this point).

Most folks commenting are missing the big takeaway here. You can clearly see these two respect each other and are willing to have a dialog. Too many folks have given up on friendships because of political differences yet these guys manage to have a spirited, yet still friendly, discussion despite clearly being on opposite ends of the spectrum.
The war on drugs has been under every administration for the last 50 years. Democrats and Republicans are responsible for this garbage.
