Michael Heiser - Do Satan and his Angels Really Think They Can Win? 

His strategy isn't to "win" per se, but merely to keep YOU out of the Winner's circle.

Lucifer knows he's defeated. His only goal is to take as many people with him into oblivion.

They're a higher intelligence and they know they don't stand a chance. They are driven by resentment and hate our guts.

I read a comment once by a wise person . “ every time Satan reminds me of my past ........I remind him of his future “. He knows he will not win against God . So his entire existence , since his fall , is to take as much of mankind to his ultimate domain .

The devils themselves know they're damned. Their wealthy elite counterparts on earth aren't that smart.

The only authority that Satan has over the believer is what they give him.

I think they know the war is lost, but they want to take as many down as possible with them before Jesus comes.

Trying to find rationality in absolute evil is a futile endeavor. There IS no rationality. The original rebellion was not rational. Lucifer swore absolute enmity against God and His creation, man. It's not about winning, it's about destroying.

Devil can't delay or thwart what God has set a time for.

The fallen angels do not have any hope. They know they are doomed forever. They also can no longer experience any of the good things that we as humans can experience, like love, joy, hope, forgiveness, etc. Every year that passes, the burden of their guilt and sins grows. Imagine living thousands of years, but never being able to ask God for forgiveness for any of your sins.

I accepted Christ when I was 7, my Church took my commitment very seriously. As Matthew 19:14 tells us to let young kids come to Jesus and don’t disregard their commitment because of their age.We had a meeting to ensure I was properly briefed on the life of spiritual warfare I was entering into. I’m in my twenties now, and everything the Bible says: from the parable of the seeds,to the fact that there will always be wars and rumors of wars is True. Jesus said “I am the way the Truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. They also told me when I accepted Christ, some people think being a Christian makes life easier,but this actually means Satan will now attack you for the rest of your life. They told me that since I had Jesus, he can withstand anything but it will not be easy, but God will complete His life for me.This has been proved countless times since. I thank God everyday for Jesus and the life of purpose and deep fulfillment He’s already given me.

Short answer is 'no'. They know they have lost and as the Bible tells us: Satan knows that he has but a short time. They just want to take as many souls with them, as they can.

this last 100 or so years has been the bumper time for demons. especially the last 20-30 years. drinks, drugs, music, film. and latterly video games and social media. they've had a field day. they've never had a better time. no more.

It’s like trying to understand why my ex-wife absolutely had to have a fight with me at least once a week! Futile!!

I wonder if they understand that the more that evil abounds, the closer we are to the end. Also, this implies they are under the constraints of time, space, and matter.

They have no choice but to war because its clear in their hearts that they have no method of redemption. They know they are without God, that is an infuriating reality to them.

Judgement has already been pronounced so it's a last ditch attempt to fight the authority that pronounced it.

This is way believers need to be evangelizing. It's not about getting distracted with what your government is doing and not doing. It's about winning lost people to Christ Jesus. If you want God's Kingdom to come faster; start winning the lost to Christ Jesus. Not stockpiling food and supplies and hiding out from the government.

Satan knows he is NOT going to win. He knows his time is coming to an end. He’s just trying to trick as many souls as possible to go with him.

I had not thought of this before - the main objective of the kingdom of darkness is to buy time - forestall their ultimate judgment that they know is coming. Hence the fierce opposition all over much of the world against cross-cultural evangelism - missions. Matthew 24:14 - And this gospel must first be preached as a witness to all ethnos, and then the end shall come.

I captured an image that showed about 20 entities with precise detail, revealing their nature: demons, and after I had finished outlining them for a picture, the image then became fuzzy and their shapes became distorted. They were one step ahead of me.

I genuinely think that they are trying to hurt God as much as possible while simultaneously lying to themselves that they are a match for God because of pride.

Concerning the devil as a prosecutor without a case, I wonder if this makes sense: that the bad deeds we did against other humans, animals, and so on, is what the devil has against our Lord and God Jesus Christ, when He's paying the ransom for our souls, paying others for our sins. Very informative, but my question is this: in Dr. Heiser's opinion, and I realize it is only an opinion, what exactly keeps believers from "entering the Kingdom"? And what should believers be doing to ensure the success of the whole Operation? The answers might be obvious to some, but for a reformed Catholic like myself, having gone full circle from the Church, to Buddhism, to Theosophy, Anthroposophy and Gnosticism, and all the steps in between, they aren't clear to me. Thank you anyway. Every time I listen to Dr. Heiser I get a bit more clarity and that bit is precious at this time. Thank you.

I often wonder if these creatures have any good at all in their nature? Ive heard many preachers say , concerning people, that hell will be full of “good people “. Really sad to think about.

Any faint hope that they could influence their future fate was utterly demolished on a hill outside Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. The Word tells us that Christ mocked them in the presence of angels. They can however win souls to join them in their place. That's our job, to win them, for our place.

If they are all about accusing us, I'm assuming our transgressions are their plea to THE HIGHEST GOD JESUS. They are saying that we are worse than them and sometimes they are right, so they also have a right to everything we get. JESUS ROCKS!! He is coming to judge us all YAY!!

The "plan" of all the ungodly is to cease to exist. They actually hate existing, and existence itself. Which means they hate the source of existence, God. So they don't think about "winning" or "losing", they only think about how to end everything, including themselves.

One of my former theological professors stated that sin has driven Satan insane...he can't win but is so driven by hate and rage. Also, God is sovereign, and as Martin Luther pointed out, even the devil is still God's devil.

The Almighty would not tolerate them if they did not serve a purpose and that purpose is judgement. "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." - Matthew 10:34

Yes, he/they do think they are gonna win. That's how self deceit in pride and arrogance operates. Seared consciences operating in blind, mad, hatred. No soundness.

Dependence on organized religion, instead of Christ, is one method that certainly slows down the fullness of the gentiles 'coming into' the Kingdom of Christ.

This has always baffled me. I try to put myself in their position. I think we can all agree these fallen spirits are vastly more powerful and intelligent then we could ever hope to be. If I were in their position I would be looking to marginalize my losses. What do I mean by this? They must understand they have lost and will face final judgement, but the nature of that judgement will surely vary. ie; Satan's judgement will surely be more severe than some low-level imp foot soldier's punishment. I would not be looking to add to my sorrows by continuously doing evil on this earth and corrupting mankind. Fallen Angels still have free will. They can still make choices. Yes, redemption may be closed to them, but the retribution they ultimately face is within their control. Rational intelligent creatures would seek to minimize the punishments. If the answer is that they are now enslaved evil and can do nothing else, does that not in of itself sort of mitigate their actions? Yes, they are made the wrong choice in following Lucifer, but all their subsequent actions really in their control?

I recall that the book of Enoch speaks about how the fallen angels were shocked at God's response to Enoch's letter. I think this concerns the 200 watcher angels. I'm a little confused are they part of the 33 percent that were removed?

Once they rejected God they lost all freedom; they now have no choice but to fight a battle they know is lost.

I think Satan knows God has a timeline and there will be no changing that. For Jesus first coming was on the day, necessarily, on time.

You know what they can take souls. There's a movie with Michael York I think it's from the eighties he plays the Anti-Christ character. At the end his brother says, he has a brother, this is before the demon spirit takes him over. His brother says to him look you have lost and he says no look all the souls I have gained.

It's clear when scriptures say that he even goes before the Lord about Job and in other places that he knows his position and still only has the authority to do what the Lord tells him. He just wants to deceive a many as possible which really only helps the Lord purge every ounce of iniquity from the saints

Satan believes he has a legitimate call to the throne because of what he knows about dark matter. What he doesn’t understand is how light can come out of darkness and therefore overpower it!! This is a spiritual battle and these words don’t do full justice but, the devil feels he’s an scholar in darkness and light

It’s hard to imagine, as Paul said: pp, “how would I have known sin ,except you said thou shall not...” the finite cannot understand the infinite, Job asked and got 64 more questions he couldn’t answer, the Bible asks, “what is man, that you are mindful of him,” this angelic conflict is something we were born into (roped into) and yet we fit with sin like a hand in a glove, as Paul said: pp, “I engage in warring against myself daily, I find it’s a must for my kind”! Well, the anti oxidants and free radicals are surely in gaged in some rough and tumble games, I know, there’s innocent blood all over me... and what’s this 2 edged sword in my hand, “My hope is built on nothing, less than Jesus’s blood/righteousness”

I think after the fullness of the gentiles, the great tribulation will begin and that is how Israel will be brought back to the fold.

"...they know they can't defeat God. They're not idiots". They must have thought so at one time, or this would never have started.

With fallen angels working against Jesus just as the Jewish leadership was doing at the time, it leads me to believe that the parable of the wicked servants was not only an inditement of the leadership at the time, but of the fallen angels to a certain degree.

He's just trying to get every soul he can burning in Hell. It's about taking us all with him.

They are winning so far. All one has to do is take a long around and see what life on earth is like. Again it is how you define winning. I am not saying that Satan can seriously challenge God, but evil is every bit the equal of good on earth, in fact, it has the upper hand.

The whole point is to separate everyone from God. He is working on the saints of God(all true believers).

By bringing all the people of Earth to Hell, the Devil wants to make the sacrifice of Jesus worthless.

The Nature of Satan and his angels is like that of a beast....they have absolutely no control and are hungry for the evils. They taught man those evils and then, they themselves became chained to those evil desires. So, they are not trying to defeat God as much as they are trying to perpetuate evil eternally

Their status is temporary only. Jesus work on the cross says it all. I sleep easier knowing.

I have fallen, I have tried to hide, I have turned away and sinned against God more times than I can count. I do not deserve God's mercy or grace I don't think I even deserve forgiveness. Living with sin is the easiest thing in the world to do, and satan will do everything to make sure you have a pretty easy life so long as you're not looking to God at all. Maybe all the souls that have a chance to be redeemed will have been born into the world and it took 1000s of years to process them, when the last redeemable gentile has been tested then the shows over. The wheat and the Tares have been walking around together the whole time. Satan doesn’t want any defectors.

I think to really answer this question on what they plan to do, is to understand that when Satan lured one third of the angels to rebel against God, they did so knowing that God who could kill them instantyy be He could not do so because the heavy loses to heavenly government. that's what they counted on. that God could not get rid of them. but surprize surprize, God created Adam and Eve, this frightened them terribly for they knew that when He got the same number of humans to replace the number of fallen angels their time would be up and would be cast down to earth and then into the lake of fire. Satan and his angels are on the defensive and have been on the defensive since the day Adam was made. their only motive for which they are working night and day, is for either thwarting or deceiving or killing as God-believers as possible is to prevent that number being reached. There is one, very obscure verse in Revelation which alludes to this very thing of the scene in heaven and God is finishing counting up every God-believer who ever lived until that replacement number is fulfilled: "And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, SHOULD BE FULLFILLED."

I think it's just pettiness. It's observable in human behavior, why wouldn't fallen angels be similar? If you can't bring yourself up, the only thing to do is try and bring others down to your level. Destroy them like you're destroyed.

The opening, gives me pause. One of the biggest reasons is even when Jesus sent the demons in to the pigs! Did they know it was not their time!? Yes they went into the sea but that is a even deeper picture! So many things! They knew it wasn’t their time. He seeks to destroy and kill! Even Christians can be deceived. Even Christians fall. How much more those who do not have the Holy Spirit. Circumcised of the heart not of hands! The blood of Jesus! Versus everything else! Brothers and sisters in Christ be not deceived. He continually pulls us out of the Mire, Renew your soul Daily and his word. For he is the way the truth and the life.

The word never actually says at the time we die we go to heaven.

Henry Morris Sr speculated that Satan developed the theory of macro evolution convincing himself God evolved first, but Satan could manipulate his own evolution to equal or surpass Jehovah.

Satan wins battles, God wins wars
