Great moment in History 🙌🏼 La Toya was backstage that night, surprising Michael with her visit. He was so happy to see her and asked her to join him on stage. But she denied and told him it was HIS moment ♥️ Michael also asked La Toya if his shirt is opened too wide and if his belt is „too much“. She replied that belts are never too much on Michael Jackson .. too funny. She said Michael was very nervous to represent the award to James Brown. She told that all in her book Starting Over. 📖 ☺️
I love this comment and I grew up listening to both James brown and Michael Jackson. RIP to both of them but especially Michael. He died way too soon and I don’t think there will another entertainer greater than Michael Jackson.
There's a guy who's doing some intense jumping in front at 3:43 and that is an accurate representation of how this made me feel! I wish award shows were this special these days.
I know I’m not the only one who saw that man jumping up and down like a little kid at 3:44 😂. Only Michael could make a grown man go crazy like that. R.I.P. to both MJ and James Brown
Everyone was surprised af because James had just finished performing and it was Mike himself who put the cape on James......mofos was WILDING THAT NIGHT....it was beautiful to see the Godfather and The King...even though I could never imagine MJ being an old man.....I thought he would live longer...and I thought James would live to be at least 100....both died young in comparison......3-6 years later...😞
This was a HUGE surprise. It was after all the documentary fallout, but even as most fans who stayed on "MJ Watch" for every music awards show, this was unexpected. The BET Awards were still kinda new, and they were still working out the "kinks" 😂, so it amazed me that they were able to keep Mike under wraps until the very second he took the stage. The emotions that erupted from that entire crowd really confirmed that we all had his back. I was frozen lol. It was a very moving moment.
People were balling like babies including me at home at age 16 lol. My all time favorite MJ was on stage with the GODFATHER OF SOUL who inspired him. Lord take me now lol.
I remember it being so emotional....even though James was spry still....he was older and it was like wow....James old....and it was a trip because MJ was early 40s then but still young in a way to us. I was 22 when this came on...next week I'll be 40....man.
I remember watching this on tv and it felt magical, so I could imagine what everyone was feeling who was actually there in the room to witness this treasure!❤❤
This moment will never ever be duplicated from any two artists ever again!!!!! Thank you for reacting to my request I requested this a long time ago lol and you know MJ had his dancing shoes on not his just for show shoes cause whenever you around James you know you gotta dance and you can tell how excited James always got when watching MJ dance also MJ’s most entertainers he looked up to were James Brown,Fred Astaire,Jackie Wilson & Sammy Davis Jr.😌🙌🏽👑❤️💕🌟💯
This is definitely one of my favorite MJ moments!!! The way Michael idolized James Brown and spoke about the influence that he had on his life and career is the same way that we speak about Michael today. "Study the greats and become greater" - MJ
This is a very cool and very happy moment for Michael and James Brown! I love both of them equally in my heart! Let them rest in peace forever!! Good job! 👍
I really love this heartfelt tribute given by Michael Jackson. You can hear the sincerity on how much he admired James Brown. This is such an awesome clip and I loved the bonus clip at this end. Extra love to the bonus clip of Mj as a kid. I appreciate how MJ acknowledges James Brown influences on him.
Everything about the video was really amazing! It touched my heart the two legends dance together their final dance, to see Michael tear up while presenting James's award, and the words, even James yelling 'POP'😂
I love seeing michael jackson and James brown on stage together and I hope you react to michael jackson Elizabeth I love you when he perform it on stage for Elizabeth Taylor birthday
That part at the end I have loved to see how this conversation continued. That was a great moment between these two legends. The whole thing was great.
This year (or maybe last), i watched a video clip of MJ at James Brown funeral whereby he actually kissed James in a final goodbye. At that point i understood what Michael meant when he once remarked '' study the greats and become greater''. I have actually taken on Michael's advice and i make use of every opportunity when i meet people who are better than me. Real talk!
This still gets to me every damn time!!!! From childhood till.... mj idolized the godfather of soul! An if james said do a lil something on this stage mike got busy an the biggest fan watching every time....was james
I remember.. this was definitely a surprise!! I think that I pretty much fell out of my chair when he came out on stage!! It was a great moment to experience live!!!!!!!!!!!
That's his Dance idol / Michael.was still doing the James Brown shuffle right up too his last performances as well !!! 2 of the greatest of all time period !!!
I remember seeing this on TV. It was a surprise that MJ was there & I loved it!!!! I still tear up 2 this day when MJ does his speech to James Brown. And I love what James says at the end how MJ danced like him but he came up w/ moves of his own. MJ always gave props to James Brown/ Jackie Wilson/ Fred Astaire/ Gene Kelly as his dancing mentors. And MJ influenced Usher/ Chris Brown & many others.
2003 BET Awards......I remember being so hyped when this happened. BET Awards felt cursed..that first decade of that awards show a lot of legends died.
You and me both don't be afraid to cry on camera every once in awhile cuz I understand moments like that make you emotional I cry watching you because I'm just so proud of you you guys this girl stays working it seem like just yesterday I was watching your premiere no wait that was yesterday LOL and now we got another video today so I'm just so proud of you I love you so much you are such an inspiration you inspired me to want to keep going and want to keep working on new ideas and new videos lots of love to you my friend 😂😂😂😂😊😊😊😊✌🏽
You said it perfectly! It's a complete full circle. I think we tend to get so caught up in Michael's gift and his greatness that we forget he had to learn it from somewhere. I loved seeing his emotional reaction. Great video!
@@annieray5747 Hey girl! How've u been? It seems like a long time since we last talked. I've been trying to find u in the comments. Missed talking to ya!
@@annieray5747 I'm good. This week was my first week on break, so it's been nice being home not doing any work. I was thinking about this the other day, but have u thought about joining Twitch? It's not really social media, but u can message people through it
God! This is one of my fav videos of Mike! Its just so amazing seeing two legends together!! Also, can you react to making of black or white video? :))
2 legends may God bless them may they both rest in peace. my grandmother and my grandfather both loved james brown as well. my mom and aunt love michael jackson. pretty much my whole family love micheal. but my mom is a huge fan.
'LOVED YOU'RE VIDEO AND I THINK WAY BACK IN EARLT 2000'S I DID WATCH AND SEE THE JAMES BROWN BET AWARDS, WITH MJ DOIN' WHAT HE WAS DOIN' WAY BACK THEN THOUGH GIRL, OK?' "THERE'S MY COMMENTS HERE ON I'VE LEFT FOR YA!!"
If you haven’t seen him at his 45th birthday party (part 1) you should react because his reaction is priceless when a lady yells out something out at him 🤣 it was so cute❤️
A legent meet a legent and crying in GRATEFUL TEARS I ADDORE BOTH OF THEM LOVE FROM EARTH TO THEM LOVE FROM GREECE TO THE CREATOR OF THIS INVALUABLE DOCUMENT
I think Michael ask Steve Harvey to give name brown the award and I think that when Steve said Michael Jackson was a very humble man but do some research but I think that how the story goes.
This was The Greatest Moments in B.E.T Award show History than number 2 would be the New Edition Reunion. I noticed latoya Jackson there next to Michael as he went back stage
Aww this was an awesome moment between 2 legends(especially the performance part) and Michael's speech was so sweet! It must've been hard for Michael when James Brown passed away in 2006...but at least they are reunited now! :) Maybe for another reaction video you can react to the HIStory mix by MJWE(which was made this year(2020) on Michael's birthday),it's a mix of performances over the years by Michael(with mostly HIStory performance footage).Hopefully, you can react to this, it'll make my day! Also if you want, you can give me a shout out if u decide to make the reaction vid ,you don't have to though!
I might be tripping but I don't think the audience realized the greatness they were witnessing. I mean it's MICHAEL and JAMES BROWN at the BET Awards, like... How can this audience be so still (apart from a few people, of course)?
I saw a podcast where one of James Brown's daughters said that that night, James Brown had no idea that Michael Jackson was going to present him with the award.
She also said that James did not know that Michael Jackson was going to be there, and when he saw Michael Jackson he was very happy because since 1964 And this friendship lasted until Brown's death in 2006, poor guy, when James was admitted he asked several times about Michael Jackson and if Michael could visit him in the hospital.
