@@roybeckerman9253 he was very short but in today's world of heavyweights, he'd get obliterated. Marciano is so small that in today's weight class, he would be a crusier weight. He wouldn't be a light HEAVYWEIGHT. What is he? Like 5'9 185lbs and slow. Put him up against Lennox Lewis. 6'5-6'6 254lbs. Or fury 6'9 270lbs and fast. I am a BIG Bruce Lee fan. But, not because I think he was the greatest fighter in the world but because his beliefs about the marital arts were way ahead of his time. He is like Einstein in that his ideas are now commonly accepted as valid but in his day, "Studying multiple styles" was blasphemy!

With that much size difference I'm not sure I would not pick the athletic guy double the size even if he had very little MA training. Let's be clear about the two. In the 70s, Bruce was the man. From the 90s on up, Mr. White is the shit. Bruce devised "the art of fighting without fighting," i. e., JKD. MR. White studied many styles of martial arts and many black belts. If he's that good, he'd be like Guru Inosanto. I do remember some of Bruce's students talking about actually trying to shut the kid up. Some of those kids were over 225, 215, and so on. Bruce, cleaned the floor with them. Bruce belived point fighting was useless. He's right. Take all the rules out and find out who's the better fighter. My money is e Bruce. I'll tell you why. Did he not mention that JKD will always evolve? There's no set standard for it. JKD isn't the gospel truth. I stand corrected. The basis is Wing Chun Kung Fu. From there, anything else is whatever. My JKD is going to be different than urs. Mr. White's fighting style is different from Bruce's. So who's better? I'd say Bruce. Even if he got, beat, he'd want to learn bc he didn't want to get beat again. Absorb what is useful, discard what is not.

When I was a kid (a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...) I believed Bruce Lee could have beaten anyone, anywhere, ever. I was a kid. Of course, eventually, you get past that kind of thinking, reality sinks in, at least to some degree, you realize there are perfectly legitimate reasons for weight classes. I'm still a Bruce Lee fan, though, he was still an inspiration to millions, still a positive influence in the world of martial arts, still the first international martial arts superstar , the first worldwide asian superstar, Bruce Lee still is what he is (you might say was, but he still stands head & shoulders above any other martial arts icons). None of that proves he was a world class fighter, obviously, but, so what? Who he could or couldn't beat up doesn't change anything meaningful about him or the mark he left on the world, it's kind of ridiculous to fuss over these silly, speculative questions ...

It's pretty unfair to expect so much from Bruce Lee considering the martial contributions he's already made considering the time in history, his smaller frame, and his legacy. Beating someone significantly larger with proper sparring skill is too much to ask of almost everyone. Proof that if your life revolves around being tougher or more lethal than the other people you don't like will make you miserable. Bruce Lee actually taught me to "embrace my own potential", even though it was achieved in a significantly different way that anyone would think at the first glance... I used to be BL's die-hard fan in the older days. I even studied Wing Chun for a couple of years (I know, I know...). I realized later, in a humiliating way, that WC was not the most useful fighting tool, when I tried to spar with a guy that did boxing. We didn't spar during WC classes, because - Sensei's words - "you cannot spar in WC, as it is meant to actually hurt someone, therefore sparring is out of question" ("it's for DA STREETZ, hell yeah!"). Yet the funniest thing from these times was that Sensei was telling stories that he went here and there, got into a bar fight, kicked someone's ass... These events happened very often and always "right after we separated" so that none of the students could see it. What a strange coincidence(s)! So anyway, after this famous sparring with the guy that did boxing (not even a boxer), I thought to myself that perhaps it's time to grow up and as a result, I signed out of the "Cult of Bruce Lee" and never had any idols to worship ever since. I got bigger, got a job and got into urban exploration. And you know what? Even when visiting some old hotels, hospitals, bunkers, palaces, often at night and meeting homeless guys, drunks, there were no fights. Never. Ever. Yet real fights "happened" to my ex-Sensei all the time. In public, crowded places. Life can be full of surprises sometimes! Now I know this story sounds like it was made up by some sworn BL hater, even I find it hard to believe and try to deny it (as it is downright embarrasing to me), but that's actually how it was. Unfortunately... But hell, I'm much happier nowadays than back then anyway. And yet BL's movies are still fun!

I haven't seen all of the video yet, so you may cover these points, however, there are some points that need to be addressed: 1. I don't have an issue that he thinks he can beat up Bruce Lee. It's an opinion at the end of the day. 2. People say Bruce Lee never fought anyone need to use that same argument against MJW. 3. MJW was publicly insulted and challenged by Platinum Mike Perry and he didn't step up - he can't be all that confident in his abilities. Perry fights at 170lbs - 60lbs less than MJW 4. People say MJW trains with the World's best fighters - Bruce Lee did as well. Size is obviously a factor, so the question becomes is MJW's size greater than Bruce Lee's skill? It could be, but that's what makes this a fun discussion. Interestingly, almost everyone is picking Floyd Mayweather to beat Logan Paul. Logan Paul weighs around 215lbs + and cuts to 190, whereas Floyd fights at his natural weight of 150lbs. Not many people have an issue with that prediction. Many people would also pick Floyd to beat 50 cent, who is well over 200 lbs. So, it's not out of the ordinary for a smaller guy to beat a bigger guy it's just that their skill level needs to be extreme. It just so happens that Bruce Lee does have an extreme skill level as evidenced by fighters like Chuck Norris.

There's the other extreme too where these well known RU-vid commentators were saying that even they could beat up a 125 lb Bruce Lee, or the awful representation of Bruce by Tarantino. Bruce was probably a super lean 140 when he was healthy and before he had the pain killer issues and couldn't eat properly. In his last movie, he was unable to eat properly and overworking so much that he was down to a frail 125 lbs when he had drug complications and died when they were afraid to call the hospital because he was at another woman's house. My view as a JKD instructor: Bruce Lee was someone who was in fact ahead of his time in martial arts, in what regards training methods (sparring, focus mitts and heavy bag training, conditioning, nutrition). In the world of martial arts in the 60's and 70's almost nobody trained with a scientific approach. Also at a technical level, Bruce Lee brought different approach, combining boxing, light footwork and kicking, different from the more static Karate approach. Bruce Lee's approach would have a big influence in American Kickboxing. Also at a philosophical level, the idea that styles are limiting and you should be able to express yourself was also something new. Having said all that above, I don't think that BL was a super man that he would defeat Mike Tyson like some fan boys say. Finally the latest stage of JKD is a great martial art, different from other striking arts and in a way it's still very effective martial art, even with all the evolution in martial arts in the past40 years.

Do I think Michael could win? Absolutely, guy’s a pro and he’s experienced modern martial arts, Bruce was ahead of his time, but at a nearly 60 year disadvantage. However, who would I bet my money on? Bruce. No guarantees either way, but he was doing a primitive version of what people do now when he was active and he had some actually insane speed. Pack that into a guy who could punch in the same weight class as Ali, and you’ve got a lethal fighter.

I love Bruce lees movies but I don't like the claims given to him. He didn't invest mma. he was a chunner n he came to America, and learned how to punch from Ali, learned to kick from Chuck Norris and was learning from gene label. that being said, ,any other nations and known fighters and military practice punching and wrestling. the truth is although rude broke away for mcdojo arts, he is the posterchild for mcdojo mentality
