I agree Michael should have won American Idol. This man is truly talented. He has great soulful raspy voices. I didn't know he was comming out with a album, well be waiting for its debut.
I will always regret his passing at such a young age. I love his voice and can only imagine how much he is missed by family and friends as he was such a nice guy.
I loved Michael from the very first time I saw him in American Idol. This song was by the far the best if that night and maybe the whole season. And yet the judges thought differently. They were WRONG.
Big fan from day one. Michael is still sorely missed in the music industry. Love listening to his performances always. Still get teary eyed thinking how he had to leave us so soon. RIP my friend...
He does a lovely version. I always liked this song written by Dolly Parton and released by her back in 1978. It's great to see good songs never die, especially with Michael's talent.
I don'r remember who won "American Idol" but Michael Johns is outstanding and better than most who have won. It doesn't hurt that he is fabulous looking!!
So happy Michael Johns is back..He is releasing his debut album in May 09, cant wait. Michael ill be the first to line up & purchase your album. You should of WON american idol, totally rigged..but you made it in the end good for you AUSSIE MATE, A TRUE BLUE FAN....
OMG!! I LOVE this!!! Woo hooo.....I never forgot about the Aussie!! And he sounds so awesome!! Havn't heard from him in a while, did he get a record deal? He can sure sing and it sounds very bluesy with a country edge.....very nice!!!
I agree, they used piano and electric guitar and judicious use of the backup singers in the live performance, made it all more sexier because it was starker Melissa Etheridge did a cover of I Will Always Love You and she did something similar, an electric guitar line vs her voice and maybe one other instrument, maybe drums and it sounds so cool here is country guitar and keyboard, keyboard? what next the keytar? good analogy bourbon vs watered down beer
I completely agree that is my top 4 although i not sure who i like more michael or david C. I did originally want michael to win so i guess him but david cook great too and deserved to win
@terribleimpulse: yeah, definitely. the live arrangement was more stark, stripped down, really showcased his raw emotional delivery, and the texture of his voice. it was like a good slug of bourbon, whereas the studio version has no edge or vitality to it, like watered down beer.
this is cool, but the slower live version he did on the show was so dirty, gritty and sexy that there is no comparison. And tennis has done a body good, have you seen him from behind? Whew, that is some good lookin man!!!!
The night he sang this I could not believe how good it was. studio version was fine but when he did it live it was unbelievable. Then when he got voted off I quit watching. This show was and is bogus.
None of the Idol people ever sound very good on the idol recordings of songs. I dont know why, but I have never heard one of the idol contestants sound as good as they do live on the studio recordings.
