The only pro I've ever witnessed where the other pro's we're in awe of him. Just watch them as their watching him...Complete awe of the man I can't blame'em he is The G.O.A.T!!!
Pressured, hand checked, double teamed, triple teamed....simply awesome. And this is Jordan in the 2nd 3 peat time period when he was past his physical prime!
NOBODY in history had the reflexes that Jordan had. Check the 50-52 second mark where he cleanly strips the ball and then instantly tracks it and flicks it away from the Bucks player before he can grab it. Love how he completely jukes the guy at 3:17 out of his shoes -- this is why you rarely saw bigger (6'8") defenders on MJ. They were hopeless against his quickness. The jumpers at 4:00 is insane.
@brian05fubu Yeah, seriously - that's a crazy leap on a jumpshot at age 33 there. During the '93 Finals, Mike Fratello said that they studied Jordan's vertical leap on jumpshot attempts, and his average leap was something ridiculous like 32" or something...on jumpers!
Can't really say he went against weaker teams. If memory serves me right, his Bulls had to go through the most number of 50 and 60 win teams in history to win their championships. When comparing both, it can't be done objectively, partly because Kobe has played a majority of his career under lax defensive rules that favor perimeter players (which the NBA rules committee has itself acknowledged). So it's a bit apples and oranges.
mes7iahcomplex NBA 50-point game list: Wilt Chamberlain-105 Michael Jordan-39 Kobe Bryant-24 Elgin Baylor-14 Rick Barry-13 Allen Iverson-11 Bernard King-8 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar-8 LeBron James-8 Dominique Wilkins-7 Adrian Dantley-6 Bob Petit-6 Pete Maravich-6 Moses Malone-4 Jerry West-4 Tracy McGrady-4 George Mikan-4 Bob McAdoo-4 Nate Archibald-4 Larry Bird-5 Karl Malone-4 Gilbert Arenas-3 Shaquille O'Neal-3 David Robinson-3
That no look pass at 4:36 faked me the fuck out. I had no idea how pippen scored because I swore Michael had the ball and stopped the break to slow things down. reminded me of a fake and hand off in football. That really was an amazing move.
i'm a big big kobe fan but i'll have to say jordan is better because there are some unchangeable reasons... one is that jordan is a better leader: he is more vocal and that makes his teammates fear him and then respect him (he openly talks out to his teammates more).. that is just a personality that jordan has and kobe doesn't have (a person cannot change himself).
It's an optical illusion...you're seeing the top of the scorers table, not the sideline. You can see where the actual sideline is at half court between the tables
and lebron had the nerve to say that he spoiled cleveland with his play (after a playoff defeat)....this is what you call spoiling a city....6 titles and a 72-win season....sit down young one.
@diplomat65 LOL you are right...somehow I got Benoit Benjamin mixed up with Kevin Duckworth for some reason, similar players I guess...MY BAD! sorry Benoit!
@nickhershey yeah no shit. some people try to compare Kobe to him, but fail to realize that he is a poor man's MJ. that's no disrespect, just the truth
kobe has to put a series of moves and footwork to get the space because he cannot "fade" as much when shooting fadeways. that's just natural advantage for jordan
@RealFan357 What did you think of Kobe shooting over two guys against the Suns last night? He killed them in the 4th quarter and the Lakers needed every single one of his amazing shots.
second: jordan has better athleticism and stays healthy. as we go through a bunch of jordan and kobe videos. we can see the difference between the height when both of them are in the air in every stage of their career (when at 33+ age, jordan has his palm over the rim when he is dunking+ he can palm the ball). jordan's lower body has always been healthy which makes his fadeaway jump shot unblockable because of his vertical and stamina.
@SamuraiSwoosh when guys like nate robinson can score 43 points in todays nba, tells me that scoring 40 or more nowadays don't mean jack. kobe scores a lot, but he also misses a lot and takes a lot of bad shots. free throw shooting due to foul calls is now over the roof in the nba. people don't think about that.
@PAZ0619 Keep in mind that I wouldn't even be on this video if I didn't appreciate the greatness of Michael Jordan. I'm not saying that Kobe is better than Jordan. But answer this. Why has Phil Jackson said in various interviews that Kobe's game is similar to Jordan's and that Kobe is better than Jordan in certain areas? He coached both guys. Type in the search "Phil Jackson compares Jordan and Kobe".
@zopoundsakpase I wasn't saying that Kobe is better than Jordan or anything. However, there games are similar. In regards to shot making, You talk about Kobe being guarded by Grant Hill. Grant Hill was a good defender even at 37. Who was Jordan being guarded by in this video? Johnny Newman? Lee Mayberry? Glenn Robinson? Haha! yeah, those are GREAT DEFENDERS... get outta here...
true that. sick of kobe fans upping his scoring nights when theyve always come against like toronto or charlotte or phoenix. MJ left the weak teams for the scrubs and scored big against NY, detroit, boston, cleveland, he saved his best for the best. Ive never seen kobe go for 50 against lebron, Tmac, Vince, AI, allen, Wade, Harden- any of his contemporaries or in the playoffs or finals. he gets like 20 against them then pads his stats against weak teams. great player- but next to mj?? please.
@SamuraiSwoosh dude why are you even bringing up kobe's name on a mj video? you should know that though he is a good/great player he is not on mj's league. kobe is a star because he's emulated mj's game to the fullest but he isn't on that level. i've seen both play and the inconsistencies and lack of physical abilities keeps kobe's game limited -> thus the 3's. he was shooting turn around fadeaways in his prime but look at how many he shoots now. he'll get killed now
@brian05fubu You're joking about Kobe right? Jordan shoots over three guys and it gets applauded. Kobe shoots over three guys and he's called a gunner. Hmm...
@dmun5587red123 One or two tough shots? Kobe's done that for the past 10 years! And don't act like MJ never took bad shots. Go back and watch some of the Bulls vs. Knicks series from the early 90's. Jordan was taking bad shots with John Starks all over him.
Kobe fashioned his game after Michael! Jordan is a far better player than Kobe. Kobe copied every move Jordan had. So, how is he better than Jordan? Jordan has 6 rings, 10 scoring titles, 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs, Defensive Player of the Year award, 3 Steals titles. Jordan achieved. It took Kobe 3 additional years to do what Michael did as far as scoring is concerned. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU CAN GIVE KOBE PROPS OVER MICHAEL WHEN KOBE PLAYED NO DEFENSE AND HE TRIED TO KOPY MICHAEL JORDAN MOVE FOR MOVE. KOBE'S SHOT ISN'T EVEN HIS SHOT HE SHOOTS LIKE MICHAEL. EVERYTHING ABOUT KOBE SAYS MICHAEL FROM HIS SHOT, HIS WALK, HOW HE PATS A PLAYER ON THE BUTT TO HIS FADEAWAY JUMPER. NO, MY FRIEND, KOBE IS NO BEAST, THE BEAST WAS MICHAEL AND HISTORY SHOWS THAT. YOU NOTICED THEY DON'T ASK IF LEBRON JAMES IS BETTER THAN KOBE, THEY ASK IF HE'S BETTER THAN MICHAEL. THEY DON'T MENTION KOBE, THEY DON'T COMPARE KOBE, THEY COMPARE LEBRON TO MICHAEL.
