@Fred Garvin That's how you see it? Jordan scored 63 on nearly 54% from the field. The entire Bulls team(minus Jordan) shot less than 44% in this series. To call the Bulls a crappy team would be an understatement.
@Fred Garvin No. The Bulls lost and the Celtics prevailed. This isn't a 1v1 matchup. The 86 Celtics was one of the best teams ever, while the Bulls was nothing but a lottery franchise. The better team won.
Curtis Wogan - I was hoping someone else caught that lol. I love that he corrected him. "Well, Pat, if the leprechaun at center court didn't tip you off, we're playing the Celtics." Ha ha ha.
The absolute swagger Young MJ had to dribble down to the wing and go through his legs twice and then nail a jumper in Larry birds face is absolutly amazing.
Even with all the videos on the internet. People really forget how GOOD Michael Jordan was. He was the Best! He was the first to do what he did and he will probably be the last as the years go by. It’s like he was from a different planet. GOAT
Raymond Briones during this time they had the third best win loss record in nba history lmfao imagine going 67-15 and people still dont give you credit just bc u dont have the same opinion on mj that almost everyone else does
ITSALLAGAME Dennis Rodman played for both Detroit and the Bulls on their championship teams. A few days after the Bulls won in 1996, Rodman said in an interview that the Pistons teams would have easily beat that (supposed) “greatest team” that won in 96. Btw, those 80s teams consistently crushed the souls of those Pistons teams until the Celtics finally broke down like an old hoopty in 1988. And yes, the 1986 Celtics is the greatest team ever assembled. How many other teams sported five Hall of Famers and the only non Hall of Famer (Ainge) made a few All Star games?
As Larry Legend said , “he’s God playing basketball “. To this day there hasn’t been any player like this. It’s no wonder his sneakers still are the best seller worldwide. Thank goodness for RU-vid.
People forget he practically missed the whole 85-86 season. Can you imagine how many more points he would have finished his career with if he didn't miss that season along with taking off for baseball?
@@fredfells209 Jordan wanted to go to college. LeBron didn't. Jordan has an NCAA Championship in his resume. LeBron James will NEVER EVER know what that experience is about
After this game, a reporter asked Larry Bird what he thought of Jordan's performance. Bird replied: "That wasn't Michael Jordan. That was GOD disguised as Michael Jordan."
@@briendunphyii8799 Lmao are you fucking kidding me lebron would never be able to do what Jordan did here. Lebron has no art about his game, it's just bulldoze to the rim and force everyone to stand on the 3 pt line
@@randyrhoads9153 Lebron would EAT in this era. The degenerates gaurding Jordan here are such a joke. this is some of the worst defense I have ever seen.
keep in mind everyone this was MJs 2nd season in the league … he already made a statement just in 2 seasons: season 1 carried the bulls to playoff as a rookie couldve potentially walked away with both MVP and roy, season 2 once again takes bulls to playoff and scored the most pts ever inna post season game… and there's still fools out there to put players next to his name… imma knick fan and I will tell y'all this much no one has ever slaughtered my Knicks as much as this man did… and that one of the best knick teams ever assembled and this man slaughtered them like some fresh meat …
I remember this game like it was yesterday....Sunday afternoon spring of 86... one helllllllllluva a summer THANK YOU LORD FOR BIRTHING ME OLDSCHOOL HS CLASS OF 85 ✌🙏💪
Jordan is the only player I have ever seen where players on other teams admitted that they were Jordan fans. They were actually all in awe. Thankful I got to live in the era when he first entered the league. People who weren’t even Basketball 🏀Thankful I got to live in the era when he first entered the league. People who weren’t even basketball fans suddenly became basketball fans just to watch him. It was something new every time he came down the court and you knew it was going to be incredible.
Even the Celtics coach mentioned that he looked at the Celtics bench and asked the players to come off the bench and guard Michael Jordan. No one wanted to come off the bench. Jordan intimidated the Celtics bench
I like how towards the end of the game they were trying to figure out what to do with the ball and this man grabbed the ball and bounced one time looked at it and realized this the Michael Jordan was just playing with. His eyes lit up and bounced the hard the second time with excitement 🏆
I'm sorry I know Jordan can make defenders look bad but this was the #1 defense in a 20× more physical era? These white guys are slow as fuck. Part of Michaels domination was being the first Alien these guys had ever dealt with and it has slowly evolved where now there's about 20plus guys today would seem like athletic aliens back then. So this OP hypothetical he would average 50 today shit needs to stop.
Even over here in England if you ask someone who's never played basketball to name a famous player, they'll come up with Jordan, people can aspire to be the next MJ, but no-one will aspire to be them. He is the greatest, unquestionably.
Man, that 80s defense was just soooooo ruthless I can not believe Jordan could even walk after this game. The fact that he ONLY shot 21 free throws is just unreal. And don't even get me started what amazing athletes were guarding Jordan, no one else to ever walk the earth could ever play as Jordan did against these freaks of nature!
I'm a big kobe fan but seeing michael play, damnn. .he is so good, no one can match his skills and leadership, he is the greatest of all time, but you have to atleast put kobe besides him.
Honestly in my opinion shooting guard wise Micheal 1. Kobe 2. Micheal had better teams around him then Kobe did later in his career and during his prime. Micheal had a better inside game but Kobe throughout his career was a way better shooter.
@@Realscience1922 Im not sure if I'd put Kobe right next to MJ considering there's many other amazing players like Chamberlain, Kareem and that. But honestly, I think LeBron is an all around better player than Kobe.
I remember this season. He had an injury and was allowed 7 minutes per half during the season. Them explodes for 49 and 63 points at the start of the playoffs. What a guy!
Missed the entire season..Didn't gain weight (Zion Williamson)....Came back & lit Boston up....Also that move against bird...For you amateurs...That was surreal.......Simply the best basketball player..Ever....
MJ's highlights are so awesome to watch man, it's so funny seeing a player with modern era levels of speed play in this era, he's simply the second greatest player of all time, no question
When Michael Jordan was drafted to the blues in 1984 the moment he stepped foot on the court for that first game, he was already the best player in the league. He didn’t have the best team, but he was the best player in the league.
Jordan knew how to use his vertical so well, it impresses me every time I see it. These days you'll see 50 dudes with that vert, but none of them can finish like that.
Chris Williams lmfao they have no arch support and they’re basically casual shoes nowadays lmao they hurt my feet like shit after walking an hour in them lmao i can’t imagine playing a full nba game in them but mike did
I have been saying this to my friends. He even talked about wearing them vs. the Knicks when he came back after his first retirement and his feet were bleeding. He said he was having such a good game he didn’t want to take them off. But they are definitely not made for an uptempo basketball game.
Jordan did this primarily against Dennis Johnson, a 9-time All Defensive team member. And the Celtics were not only the eventual champs, but the NBA's No.3 defensive team (only .4 of a point behind the No.1 team)
@@markpagtama7954 Not likely since refs in the 80s would call him out for his blatant travelling. You cannot touch a player in today's NBA and it was by design for more offense. Consider this: Donovan Mitchell of the league leading Jazz posted two 50 point games in the 2020 playoffs putting him in the likes of Jordan and Chamberlain. In 2019, Mitchell led Team USA to SEVENTH place, and lost to teams with ZERO NBA players. Why? Because FIBA ball is more physical than today's NBA. Kemba Walker complained about it.
@@markpagtama7954 This is one of the greatest defensive teams of all time, your view is skewed by the fact that this was Jordan at his peak speed. He is 23 years old here and is the fastest he ever was. Derrick Rose at his peak made defenses look like statues.
For all the idiots saying the defense wasn’t that tough and he was getting easy baskets please explain these: 1:00 1:29 1:41 4:15 5:14 5:39 6:00 6:35 6:49 7:02 9:43 10:21
The defense wasnt that tough. Bron would bully every player on this team. Kobe Shaq same thing. Look close lol it's just nobody spacing the floor so it's no room in the paint. Still not hella contact tho 😂
To think mj missed most of that regular season that year.. Management didn't want him to come back that year, and he drops 63 on the chaps of that year, 49 the game before, and was a rebound or a assist shy of a triple double in game 3.. Just remarkable.. Did anyone notice the ice man George gervin on the bulls bench towards the end of video? 4got he was a bull for a minute...
Man....his fundamentals were just perfect. 63 pts and not one of those shots was he really off balanced. No wasted dribbles, or movement, from MJ. Every jumper he is perfectly squared to the rim. No wonder he shot in the 54% range. If he played in this era he would have extended his range. Lebron is bigger and stronger but Jordan was a way better player. I don't think it's close, especially down the stretch of games.
At 2:37, you can see the expression on Celtics guard Dennis Johnson's face while he was tasked to defend Michael Jordan. He was probably thinking: "This is going to be a long night. How in the world could I stop this guy?" As great a defender Johnson was, Jordan was blowing past him the entire game.
Agree, this was against the greatest team of all time in the playoffs, very competitive game and on the road. Kobe was against the worst team in the league, a meaningless regular season game and in a blowout game.
Celtics won this game, why? Because of bad NBA rule at the time. Just a then plain stupid rule. Jordan was fouled on a three point attempt late in game. But guess what? Only got two free throws because that was the stupid NBA rule at the time. Bulls should have won game if Jordan would have had 3 attempts instead of 2 and made all 3. Check it out.
The thing about this people don't understand. The celtics forced Jordan to make all those points. This is a strategy used by a lot of veteran teams. Of course, no ones seen someone with Michael Jordan's athleticism or stamina either. But the strategy still worked. Even breaking scoring records with God out there lacing up his sneakers couldn't overcome the Celtics' strategy. Its quite astonishing what a group of slow, boring, smelly nerds can accomplish by just using their brain more than the next guy. Jordan learned a lot here... ended up playing very similar to Larry Bird's style ball in his twilight years for the second 3 peat.
Yeah he does. Lebron is jordan and dominque in one body. Your destiny? To receive the living water. What is that? Ask Jesus. Peace. If you ask for this before bed and hope for a dream you will begin to enter realms and eternal life, heaven itself, God starts to come in dreams.... the bible says it. Numbers 12:6, Amos 3:7, 2 Corinthians 12:1. Just ask for the living water from Jesus at nights key*** hope for it and want a dream from Him to give it to you there... alone. you cant find this in no church.. peace. Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." John 4:10 John 16:24 "ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full." I seen Jesus a lot. Read the New Testament asking for the living water and hope for it and wait for dreams. Its not long, 200 pages. Before a week or two is up, Jesus comes in dreams, sometimes sooner if you are asking with a lot of faith. But if you just keep doing it, he will come sooner or later, usually sooner. peace.
jordan did it with no supporting cast. lebron has bosh and wade. ur watching the most dominating single player ever in the game. jordan took a game over from beginning to end. and when it came playoff time he was unbeatable. i witnessed it live.
lebron led a garbage team to finals, what the fuck do u mean? and Jordan had better supporting cast when he took the rings than Lebron..common Jordan had Pippen and the best rebounder in the nba Rodman, Bosh and Wade are just good players, Lebron leads Miami and he is the best that plays today, like it or not
***** LeBron had one of the best defending (possibly the best, considering what they accomplished with him dragging them down for 40 minutes every night), rebounding, and shooting casts in the NBA from 06-07 to 09-10. He was outperformed multiple times in the postseason that year by Gibson of all people, including the elimination game against Detroit (in which LeBron shot 27%). They nearly beat San Antonio multiple times when LeBron was one of the worst players on the court. The Cavs carried LeBron just as much as he carried them.
cavs? he never won it all on the cavs. wtf does that mean? when did i mention the cavs? i said bosh and wade didnt i? Lebron never won a championship with cleveland. jordan was better. face the facts.
you are idiot or you are trolling? lebron this year had almost no help than Wade, just shut up you are a lebron hater without a reason face the facts now idiot
If a comment contains Le'Bron's name in the same sentence as Jordan's name, it loses all credibility. There is absolutely no comparing these two players to one another. Jordan will always be the best all around player the NBA has ever seen. Period!!!
Michael Jordan is by far the very best player in NBA history, by far. He destroyed one of the best teams of all time, if not the best team, he did it all by himself. And he had to fight to play... No one was ever the absolute, total package and skill as he was.
The Bulls would have won in regulation if they gave him three free throws. I wonder why you didn't get three free throws for fouls on three-point shots in those days.
