The thing you really have to appreciate is that Pipen wasn't just hurt he was injured, he only played half the game and it was as a limping, hobbling decoy. Outside of Kerr carrying about 10%-15% of the load on the offensive end, the rest of the team was basically a non-factor. If you go back and watch the whole game you will see Jordan constantly conserving energy despite playing nearly the entire game, then occasionally pushing hard to keep the game close if the Jazz started a run. If he hadn't pulled off this magic and won the series, it's hard to imagine the Bulls winning in Game 7, because Pipen probably wouldn't have even dressed for it.

MJ's wrist is also not strong enough to move Russells' body, while Mj's body is going in the opposite direction on the stopping on a dime play. If you watch MJ games long enough, you will see that opposing players often fall for MJ's subtle moves and fakes and have to commit to a play because they can't give MJ an inch or its game over. That is why when you watch highlights and his defenders look silly, its not because they weren't great defenders, it is because they fell for MJ's fake that was lethal. I’m not saying he didn’t push off at all. I will argue that I’ve heard modern day officials say that you have to give full arm extension for turn to call it. He was smart enough to put his hand on the hip and put it immediately straight downward because he could have used Russell to gain leverage for the shot. As far a Russell was concerned……he was head off in the wrong direction.

I have watched this game live, from 1 AM to 4 AM in my country :) I have also watched several games from the Utah-Lakers West Conference final. 4-0 for Utah against Shaq and young Kobe. Chicago had a much tougher match against the Pacers (4-3).

no push off...it was a guide at the most...if he pushed him that hard you would have seen MJs arm follow through...he pulls his guide hand back and russell was already going that way and fast thinking MJ was driving for a lay/jumper and couldnt turn around in time...no way a slight guide hand pushed him that hard
