The reason Jordan is the greatest scorer ever isn't just because of his unique physical gifts. He also had the uncanny ability to anticipate what the defense was going to do and react to it in real time. The reason he switched hands in mid air against the Lakers is because he saw Sam Perkins on the right side of the basket make a move as if he was going to challenge the shot. Perkins kind of hesistated at the last minute and pulled back. But by that time Jordan had already switched hands and laid it up on the other side of the basket. I can always tell the people who aren't used to seeing MJ play, because they always misinterpret what happened on that particular play. Not sure how he did it, but Jordan had a surreal ability to guess where the defense was and react to it immediately. It was beautiful to watch!
@jdr3acts
@jdr3acts 3 года назад
I completely agree! Jordan made the game look sooo easy. The way he made defenders just look silly, a major part of that was due to his anticipation. Almost like he already knew exactly what the defense was gonna do. Same thing he was able to do on the defensive end. To be first team all defense as many times as he was while still being completely dominant on offense is insane. I will say though, I always felt like he could have dunked the one he switched hands on or even just finger rolled it. It always gave me the “I am Jordan And I will embarrass you” vibes. But I can see what you mean where that could have been a reaction to Perkins moving to block it. Thank you for watching!!!

Yeah it's why there are some games where it seems like MJ is scoring too easily. A true mark of a great offensive player is if he can put himself in situations where he can easily score. He can make tough shots, sure, and that's all nice and good, but impress me by taking shots where the defense is caught sitting and isn't in your face ... that's far more impressive and shows situational awareness, skill, and bball IQ. What also often gets overlooked is MJ's ability to move without the ball. He didn't need to run around like a headless chicken. A few quick, decisive moves and smart screen usage to get free, and bam easy bucket. If I was a defender against MJ, I'd have an easy night cuz it wasn't tiring to defend him .... cuz he'd kill me quick.
@jdr3acts
@jdr3acts 3 года назад
@@leechrec So true man. I actually never hear about how MJ moved without the ball. That just shows you how great he was. Some of the great things he did just get over shadowed by the even greater things he did lol. Just greatness around. Lol. Thank you for your input, and thank you for watching!!!

@@leechrec Excellent points and observations! The part about MJ taking great shots versus making tough shots is what seperated him and Kobe as scorers IMO. Kobe shot a lower percentage than he could have because he would often take tough shots. And he would sometimes force the issue even when he wasn't having a good night offensively, rather than letting the game come to him.

The highlights are great, unfortunately its hard for kids today to see what really really cements him as the GOAT. When it was happening in real time. Watching the build up before games, playoffs, and finals.. watching how dialed in teams were on stopping Jordan yet they were completely helpless stopping him. Seeing and appreciating how good these teams were. Every team, every fan knowing what was gonna happen an then watching MJ take over. Experiencing how intimidating Jordan was to opposing teams. Regardless if the Bulls were winning or losing..it always felt like Jordan had control of the game..

Fans of other teams filled their stadiums and turned on their TV's to watch MJ do dirty to their favorite teams/players. John Starks in an interview said that before every game you got a 2-3 page breakdown of how to stop and score against the guy you were guarding. Jordans was 1 page and it said "Good Luck". You are 100% correct, he was built to play basketball. 44-48 in vert(no one knows 100%), hands the size of 7ft centers, body control and shooting of a guard, and strong enough to absorb the contract of those 7ft shot blockers. Dude would have been a great WR or CB in the NFL, or a great high/long jump olympian also. MJ was Gods perfectly built athlete given to us as a gift to the world. My top 5 is ever shifting, but 1 is always Jordan followed by Bird Kobe LBJ Jabaar Magic, Shaq of the guys I got to watch. You can make an all time great team out of any of those players. Bro, I don't know if you're gonna read this comment but I wanna tell you I'm from Chicago, and watch Mike's career through the late 80's til he retired both times, and let me tell you I can relate to your "unpopular opinion" about D. Rose. See, when I watched Rose from his rookie year until he got hurt, I promise you fam I said he gives me that MJ "it factor" that I remember from watching Mike, so I know what you mean when you said what you said about Rose and MJ having some similarities in a lot ways that hard to explain to most people.

💯💯💯. I honestly didn’t know if anybody had even close to the same feeling about D Rose 🌹 that I had! Like you said, it was just something about him that gave me those vibes/feelings. I'm a die hard Bulls fan. Been one since 1990 when I was 11 & discovered MJ. On Kobe I 100% agree. It's fuckin disrespectful how Kobe gets passed over in the GOAT conversation. Kobe was the next Jordan. Watching him was like watching a clone of Mike because he patterned everything & every move he did after MJ. And he 3 peated & went back to back for 5 rings

15:43 is why jordan is the goat. even though he's proved he's the best player in the world he's still hustling down the court after he just got ripped on a steal and blocks the fast break shot. you really don't see that type of effort anymore and it's unfortunate. guys these days are more inclined to stand there and argue w/ the referee about not getting a foul call than they are to try and make a big play on the other end of the court. much respect for the all out hustle. that's why kids still wear his shoes 20 years after he retired...

i swear MJ the only nigga i seen that i can feel and see his fucking presence like he got an aura or some shit, i swear everytime i see this man i immediately think of anime characters like yujiro or kenpachi. Undisputed GOAT. recommend - what they wont tell you in bulls documentary by jimmyhighroller, if you want to see some interesting stats that will blow your mind about MJ and shows why no one compares. and your right about the 3, funny thing is he wasnt bad at it but by his standards was just the weakest part of his game, and yes people underestimate MJ's ability to adjust because of that mindset. to me hes the most complete player, but sadly his defense, rebound, and passing are all overshadowed by his offence.

@JDR3ACTS Arguably the BIGGEST misconception about MJ's game by your generation, is that MJ "couldn't shoot 3s". And this is erroneous, to say the least. Because he shot 33% from there in an era, where the league avg was only 33%. So, at best, he was just average (not bad). The difference however, lay in the # of attempts per game back then vs today. Teams today take on average, about 21-22 3ptrs per game. Whereas back then, they only attempted 9 a game. And individually speaking, MJ took LESS than 2 a game. But again, that's not saying that he was a liability at it, only that he didn't take many of 'em. And to be honest, he didn't NEED it to score, like these pretenders today. Hell, when you look who made the MOST 3ptrs during CHI 1st 3peat title run, it was him!

In today’s game, MJ might average a 55+ quadruple double. Steals, rebounds, blocks & points. Only kidding, but he would easily average a triple double, win scoring title every year, win dpoy pretty much every year, MVP every year, 50+ average would be easy with a lot more free throws. MJ would be counting rings with toes (ran out of fingers) and LBJ would have joined the bulls rather than compete. Okay, so maybe that last parts not fair, but history has shown evidence to suggest that to be accurate. Mj is easily the goat, but two through ten can be interchangeable/debated. Magic, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Bird, shaq, Hakeem, Duncan & Kobe can all make arguments. I have Lebron outside of this grouping. Reason? He’s not a good shooter by any stretch of the imagination. Outside of 3 feet he’s a far lesser shooter than many of those names listed above. He’s also a bad free throw shooter for someone whom has the ball so much. You can’t even be in the goat discussion if you can’t make the single easiest shot in the game (free throw) at incredibly high %. LbJ is a Physically gifted athlete playing in an era that is incredibly easy to play in, where you can’t touch a guy and can get to rim whenever you want because nobody plays D. Also resting on defense, cmon. I’m not penalizing lbj whom is a top 10-20 player all-time, but I’m also not rewarding him for playing in the leastern conference for so many years and being fortunate to play along side so many hall of famers. Really only won when surrounded with supreme talent. Stay with me here, Is there any current player that’s had better teammates than lebron? I don’t think so… in fact, I can’t think of any players in the top 20 ever that played with better talent then LBJs teammates; Kyrie, Shaq, Love, Ray Allen, Wade, Bosh, Halsleem, Ilgauskas, Ant Davis, Westbrook, Carmelo, deandre jordan, rondo, Howard, with plenty of fringe stars like Boozer, J.R., Tristan, Tyson Chandler, etc… a lot of HOFers there.
