Not played bass for 10 years because lacerated my hand badly and I had strong, lasting nerve pain. Gave the bass away and lost a part of me. The pain eventualy dissapated, but I had lost so much hope to play again, it was a hard place to crawl out off. Well a week ago a new friend randomly sent some bass grove videos. Now a week later and I've ordered a bass again. The first 7 (or so) notes of this solo was all it took took. Tears of release at the dawn of redemption. Feel like I'm finally coming home.
@@nojuanatall3281 Small bass, big bass, wouldn't have mattered. I couldn't use my left hand to play notes without intense pain. But all is well now, as I've healed and got another bass again.
I know this an old ass comment, but just wanted to share one of my favourite Shaun and Michael moments. A couple of years ago at GroundUP festival, on the last night, Snarky were closing things out. Crazy set, everyone on stage, was nuts. They finish the last song, but Shaun wants to keep going, so he does and the band goes with him and just jams out. It's awesome. Song finishes again... and Shaun *keeps* going, playfully taunting Mike, to the delight of the crowd. I forget how many times this happened, but it ended when Mike leant over to Shaun and said (only audible because I was at the front), something along the lines of "If we don't stop right now there's a $15,000 fine." Shaun, on a dime, goes "-well alright then." and immediately steps away from the boards. He'll put on a show and mess with Mike because it's fun and produces moments like these, but when it gets real, League is boss. Just a fun moment to witness.
Nah, he's a hack who doesn't ever practice and disguises it by acting "artsy," and weird. They're a dime a dozen except ol' boy is making them snarky puppy dollars lmao
VermylionMusic lol, how about no? If you don't wanna explain your poorly constructed paragraph, that's your call. Don't act like you're in the right here though. I'd still be happy to hear your explanation, seeing as your first comment had some seriously poor grammar, which made it quite hard to understand
Anybody know the chord progressions the keyboard player is using? Mike's a great player, he proves you an be a world class bassist with tasteful note selections and quality playing.
I'm pretty sure he uses an OC-2 or OC-3, and it sounds like he's got some flavor of drive pedal after it too. Phat sound! Throw an envelope filter in the chain after that combo, maybe some chorus, and you've got a beefy synthbass sound.
You do realize he writes most of Snarky Puppy's songs? Also, I don't know if you play any instruments, but bass is much more difficult to solo with than a guitar. :)
Hahaha calm down dudes. If ur ever studied music, you realize he's doing simple things. He's soloing at the head note of Cm, avoiding conflictant notes. Thats all. Yeah i've been in a lot of live shows. I'm from Brazil, the land of bass, and a can affirm, michael is nothing more than a average bass player that knows a little about music theory and a lot of live acting.
@@rafaellima5429 Yes, he is doing simple things. I think that's the point of his solo, he's playing melodically and not chopping out mindlessly. I'm sure League has chops to burn if he wasn't playing a 42mm neck and a MG signature or something. Isn't Brazilian music all about time and groove anyway? Which if you watch other clips he definitely has a shit tonne of.
@@rafaellima5429 Lmao if people like the stuff he plays who's bothered whether it's really complicated or not? Also he's the main arranger for snarky puppy so bass isn't his only focus.
