@@leesin2992 Not sure. He used to train at my gym as a kid for a stint. From what I heard, his parents are really well off, and they've been bouncing around from gym to gym, searching for the best training since they where kids. My guess is whoever he was with when he won at brown belt promoted him to black. Usually winning gold at a major competition is enough to warrant a promotion.
Thats interesting that the sport differs that much from one weight class to another. So much so the commentator wasn't sure how to speak on that early moment in a compelling way. Assuming he knows enough about the sport to have such a job. But was basically calling on the other guy to pick up the slack, as to what was occuring.
honestly i feel like they should've picked different commentators. thats like saying a black belt professor not able to coach a student a different size than them. they should pick commentators that actually know bjj lol.
