It's actually Icehouse ft Michael Paynter. I have seen Michael play many many times , his original songs are stunning. He has the voice of an angel. He has taken on more of a production role these days as one half of Msquared productions & also plays in Icehouse & Jimmy Barnes band. I really wish he still played his own shows, I miss going to hear him play.

I’m An Aussie & This Is The First Time I’ve Heard Of Michael Paynter I Must Of Been Living Under A Rock 🫣 He Has A Absolutely Beautiful Voice 😍

Ok I will try to give you some background on Michael. Michael was born in Melbourne and started learning piano at 7 He then picked up guitar and drums and was proficient with them by 15. He is a singer songwriter that after being dropped by his record label contested in season 2 of the Voice Australia But that was the season that he came up against Harrison Craig (worth a look for sure). This clip is from the 2014 Icehouse Tour where Michael played Keyboard and Guitar as well as background vocals. Im not sure how it came about but he was invited to pick a song from there massive back catalogue to sing and this is the result. (And yes, he is one of the backup singers but ofc too good to not get centre stage for this performance)

I saw Michael with ICEHOUSE in Melbourne a few years ago, it was exactly like this... I heard this song on radio today and needed to hear the Michael again

These guy’s (Icehouse) are phenomenal live in concert. The entire band are all incredible musicians with such a deep catalog of great songs. Also great harmony vocalists and can absolutely Rock & do beautiful ballads. One of the best Aussie bands I’ve seen live and Michaels voice is a knockout. 👌

The man who introduced the young lad is Iva Davies, lead singer of Icehouse.

I stumbled upon Michael Paynter doing a keyboard version of John Farnham's "Burn for You" and, as a non-Aussie, thought: how much talent do they even have down there. What passes for a singer is clearly on a higher level. Fantastic voice.

Michael paynter is one half of record producers MSquared in Melbourne and they produce and co-write many songs for Australian Country Rock artist Casey Barnes. Casey won ARIA 2022 and two golden guitars. Msquared producers. Very talented Michael ❤ he's an amazing musician also, singer, songwriter, record producer and good guy.

The original singer, IVA Davies, introduced Michael as the youngest member, IVA wrote and sang this song and was the lead singer, in this he is the one playing the Obo

Besides Michael Ball and Michael Buble Michael has a very soothing beautiful voice his very talented.

When Michael became the keyboardist/backing vocals for ICEHOUSE, Iva Davies asked which song from the ICEHOUSE catalogue Michael would like to 'Paynter-ise' as a feature song - Man of Colours was chosen. This gave Iva Davies the opportunity to feature as the oboe soloist, and to sing the final verse. Paul who spoke at the very end was one of my teachers at uni. He manages Michael or has in the past. He got Michael to do a masterclass at uni a while back. Was so good, he's a great guy who deserves to be more popular, incredible voice. His version of Burn for you by John Farnham is incredible too.

I love icehouse, im in uk & they are one of my favourite bands. I love man of colours both origional by ivor Davis & this one by Michael paynter. Also love great southern land & cross the border. In fact there isn't anything I don't like. Their music is just fantastic & I mostly play icehouse music at home. 😊

Iva Davies wrote this. He passed on the batton to young Michael Paynter for this concert. But you also need to listen to Iva as well as he is fantastic in a different way.. He was born to sing just as John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes were meant to sing and I now include Michael Paynter.

Michael Paynter" given it's an Icehouse song and the band have existed since the 80s with Michael coming on board in 2011. Icehouse is the band Paynter is part of. Beware Charlie, Icehouse is another Australian music icon from the John Farnham era in the 80s & 90s. I challenge you to dive into a few Icehouse songs - Great Southern Land; Electric Blue; My Obsession; Crazy are the well known songs.

As an Aussie I dunno who this Michael is. He is a great singer but I prefer Iva’s original version of this song, probably because this song has emotional meaning in its original form. Icehouse will always be an influential Aussie Band and Great Southern Land will always be one of our best songs.
