I think people who really watch college ball would say he is the best in this class. The arm talent and accuracy downfield are unmatched. The only concern is the injuries, and he's a little older. Aside from that, he's better than all the guys taken ahead.
He's going in the top 10, go ahead and mark it down. Good chance all 5 QB's will be gone in the top 12. Lots of great talent will slip if that is the case. Should make for some late 1st round trade excitement.
As a Falcons fan I understand why a lot of people hate this pick but in all honesty, I love this pick. He will be well worth the wait. This is the QB who is gonna get a Superbowl in this class.
The Atlanta falcons are spending $100 million to make sure they have a good QB to help Penix in development. I’ve never seen a team throw this many resources into developing a QB, but holy moly is Penix worth it. This could easily be the franchise defining moment
Is he going to be good enough to win a Super Bowl after he gets paid and his weapons get priced out? The reason the Falcons are getting skewered is they aren't taking advantage of the rookie wage scale QB salary.
I Love this move and i’m a Falcons fan we outsmarted all the other teams just saying. Yes we got kirk cousins but what if he gets hurt again? What if he ain’t the same player like he was? And what if we don’t draft in the top 10 again in years then what? Plus we gotta build for the future, I really think he is gonna be better then Matt ryan just have a good feeling about this kid!!! #RiseUp #DirtyBird #Lets Go Falcons
He is absolutely the best thrower out there by far. His accuracy is unmatched. Out of all the qb's coming out this year, to me he looks the best. What scares me most is his past injuries. Outside of that dudes a baller!
Sadly that needs to be corrected. You can't throw it over NFL defenders heads like that. They'll have hands up any time he's passing bc of that. Hard to float it over them with a low angle side arm throw. They can be useful with a blocked lane, but not from the pocket.
You guys got to watch the best QB in college football in a long time. I’m so stoked to watch what he does in Atlanta, he might be the best pick Atlanta’s ever made. So excited for the pick and glad the Huskies have him that opportunity, and now glad we gave him an opportunity!
I’ve never cared about or notice until now but watching the ball spiral in the air is beautiful. This guy throws a ball that looks like it just falls in the hands the right way every time
@@johnnydiabetes6563most heisman moments, came up big every time they needed him to, JD has the stats and probably gets it but Penix took over a 4-8 team and went 24-2 with them overall and led them to a 13-0 playoff birth. Nix was statistically great with his efficiency but had literally zero heisman moments and in the only 2 games he could have had heisman moments he shit the bed
@@johnnydiabetes6563just winning that game was a Heisman moment because ASU has been a thorn in UW's side for 20 years, just one of those kryptonite teams that defy explanation like Oregon State ruining USC's season a couple times in the Pete Carroll era
@@omegamanGXE the fact that you just said him throwing for 0 tds and two interceptions while leading his team to 9 points vs a 3-9 asu team was a heisman moment proves you have no idea what your talking about
Agree. One of the games you’re talking about was in pouring rain vs oregon state. Everyone on both teams was dropping passes … except Odunze. Dude’s from another galaxy 😜
Born May 8, 2000. Played high school football for the Tampa Bay Technical Titans (FL). Played college football first for the Indiana Hoosiers, then the Washington Huskies. Drafted #8 overall by the Atlanta Falcons. I am a resident of South Carolina and can say that the Falcons have a good fan base here. Sunday afternoons were spent at my grandparents' home in the Fall watching them.
Dude, that is actually what I thought! Penix's spirals are super impressive! He is a great thrower of the football. And his throws remind me of Warren Moon! Very perspective on your part!
Penix, DJ, Odunze, McMillan, and Polk might be the best squad we will see in a very long time. The talent is unbelievable. He trusts them to get where they need to go, and they trust him to get it where it needs to go. Not to mention, our O-Line is unstoppable.
Penix Jr throws laser beams ,he is without a doubt the best passer in NCAA. These scouts are idiots Caleb balls look like ducks . Penix jr has proven it against the toughest competition beating them all . I hope the Chicago Bears draft him!!!!!
CALEB IS TRASH ,HE IS NOT A POCKET PASSER . ALL THAT SCRAMBLE AROUND TRASH WILL GET DESTROYED BY NFL PLAYERS CUZ SLOWEST NFL PLAYER IS THE OTHER TEAMS FASTEST NCAA PLAYER. CALEB IS GARBAGE PENIX JR IS PURE PASSER PERIOD MARK MY WORDS CALEB IS BRYCE YOUNG 2.0
My Take on Michael Penix Jr , in my opinion he has the best arm In this year QB draft Class , he’s accurate , great ball placement , he’s good against man coverage , he’s a good pocket passer, he sees his reads well , not much really a Duel threat QB , he’s good aganist pressure , yeah he sometimes overthrow but most of the time he connects his throw , he’s one of my favorite QB prospect this year I can see either Falcons, Seattle , or VIkings getting him will see.
I think Odunze should've been in the Hiesman Convo, he's got more Yards & more Receptions and only 1 less TD than Harrison Jr. (Around 1,400 yrds, 13 TD, ~17 yrd avg.)
@@Slepay his injury history has been bad, but the raiders have been worse. This guy can change a foster immediately. His size, arm strength and ball placement are all well above average.
His deep throws are right on time! Which I like, but I would like to see some slant throws and curl route throws, just to see his timing. Good Fit for Raiders!
Jayden "1-4 against ranked teams" Daniels may win the Heisman Trophy tomorrow on the strength of his statpadding against Army, Grambling, and Georgia State, but Penix led his team to the Playoffs and has a shot at winning the National Championship. Cope and seethe, LSU fans.
Not winning the Heisman might be a blessing in disguise; The more underrated he is, the better his chances are of landing on a team that won't get him killed.
I can't understand why his stock dropped so much. I'm an Oregon fan, so I kinda hate Penix, but he's truly amazing. And is at his best when people doubt him. Whatever teams overlook him will absolutely regret it.
Hey, fans can be in their feelings about Atlanta this picking this man at 8 overall all they want. They can bring up his injury history, the conference he played in, his projected draft position. It does not matter. This young man can straight ball. 🏈 He is a generational talent. You can’t teach what he has. Im glad Atlanta picked him. Even if he does sit 1-2 years. He will be most definitely ready.
I find it crazy they have texas as 4 point favorites especially after the quarterbacks washington has beat hurt at defense.. i honestly dont think it will be close WASHINGTON FOR THE NATTY
@randoman5840 big talk, let's see the betting slip! Ps. I can arrange that 2nd mortgage so you can win all that money and show us you aren't all talk! Longhorns 0-1 soon to be 0-2. Sark lost last time he, will lose again , he's been trained!
He releases faster and more on time than Caleb. His accuracy is something to behold. But Caleb’s release, arms strength >> We’ll see this the most fun draft in a a while
As a giants fan I hope he continues to get overlooked and falls to the 2nd round. We can take Alt in the 1st and him in the 2nd, perfect draft. Penix is the most pro ready qb in the draft
His ability to throw spirals from multiple throwing angles (similar to Matt Stafford) will be huge for him to continue to be able to chuck it when needed and avoid more sacks
I wish too but dunno man. They have Kenny on billboards around town and doing commercials with Ben. Anointing a kid without him earning it yet... Penix is EXACTLY the type of QB we need
I came here to watch Penix Jr. While he has a beautiful long ball, his lack of mobility and injury history makes me wary. Unless he goes to a team with a solid O-line, he will have difficulty. Who impressed the hell out of me was Rome Odunze. He's the real deal.
@@jamesdavis8731 great QB's thrive even if the O-line stinks. average QB's like Penix are dead meat behind a bad Oline. In other words, he won't elevate himself or his team if the Oline is bad. Lamar Jackson, Patty mahomes, Josh Allen, Even Stroud can all function when things aren't going well. Not Penix. Penix is fools gold.
Penix is the wild card of this year's draft, would be floored if my Vikes come away with Penix. He just has IT. When I watch highlights of Maye and McCarthy they're really good qbs, Penix has tools to be incredible .... that's the difference IMO.
Watching the highlights of MPJ, CW, DM, and JD, I've learned one thing. College refs avoid calling offensive pass interference (mostly in the form of push-offs) as if their life depends upon it.
Definitely would not be disappointed if the Vikings pick Penix. Great calmness in the pocket and on time accurate throws. He also definitely has a great o-line and blocking backs too.
As a Bear fan who mostly going to take Caleb Williams with da number 1 pick please keep Da real second best QB in da draft Micheal Penix Jr as far away from da Minnesota Vikings as possible I am begging u 😭💯
As great as that sounds, we’re not gonna get him, currently I have him either going to Minnesota or NYG ahead of us. Plus as it stands we’re not really a down field team and his best trait is that. I want us to take Johnny Newton from Illy watch his film our DL would be killer if we get him. I hope Cam Ward declares and we can take him Rd 2 or 3 we need a guy that can throw but also run either the RPO or make plays with his legs
This kid does have talent. Its raw talent but thats a debatable release point and reminds me alot of what Pat White was like coming out of West Virginia
IMHO... Penix Nix and Maye are my top 3 QBs in no particular order. I'd put Jayden Daniels just below them. I would have some concerns about drafting him in the top 5. I would not draft Caleb Williams. I think Penix is intriguing because he is left handed and a team could go round 2 in the same draft and get a stud RT to protect his blindside.
I slightly disagree, In order I have Maye, Williams, Penix, Daniels, and McCarthy. I don’t have Nix in my top 5 his name feels like it has zero upside. And I agree I wouldn’t draft Caleb unless my team had weapons already in place like LAR or Minnesota. I think this draft will be more about team fit vs QB talent. This Class is loaded at QB especially if Ward and Leonard declare
I like this kid. Plays a bit like geno smith. He has amazing receivers. Should be a Seahawk, BUT if any hawks fans out there think he himself will fix the team they have low football iq. He’ll run into the same problems as geno smith does. Seahawks MUST get a better offensive front 5 and coordinating staff or this kid will be ripping his hair out && torn to shreds mentally and physically. would be a sad story to see mark my words.
Seattle has great lineman, Abraham Lucas, Damien Lewis, and Anthony Bradford have been great. Need to bench evan brown for oluwatimi. Charles cross is just ok. Coaching is definitely the problem.
Penix has better accuracy than geno, younger, and has pocket awareness unlike geno. Can use his feet. U know damn well geno is not the long term answer
@@tonynguyen4204 he’s an 11 yr vet of course he’s most likely not. Your missing my point first of all, 2nd that’s a silly statement. He’s in collage plus this video only shows deep threat passes. Threading the needle is something we have not seen from this kid let alone on a nfl level. Watch saints game from last yr, plus Geno’s been injured twice this season. Very poorest to speak on injured qb’s.
@@therealnyvex9045 just saying geno is not the answer. Yes he played a very good game last night but we’re not going to get that from him every week. He’s inconsistent. tons of Qbs this upcoming draft class, we cant afford to mess this up
@@tonynguyen4204 your going to put someone in there who’s going to go thru the same thing and you’ll feel the exact same way about this boy like u do geno. Very sad that you blame that man for every reoccurring problem that this organization has. 85% Seattle 15% geno.
