U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps testified before Congress, alongside U.S. Olympian Allison Schmitt, about the World Anti-Doping Agency and the use of illegal substances in sports. This comes after 23 Chinese swimmers allegedly tested positive for a banned heard medication ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The point is the US propoganda lol. They literally praised Erriyon Knighton (Team USA) who ran 200m last night, who literally tested positive for a higher concentration of a banned substance for muscle growth, and got off scot free for "contaminated food." The point of this is the point of them doing anything else, using their propoganda to get rid of competition like they got the entire Russian figure skating program demolished because those girls were so good that the US had no chance.

Few have done a good job reporting on this (CNN's Kyle Feldscher is an exception), but Phelps wasn't testifying to 'Congress', per se... he was testifying to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce (CEC) Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation. It's a big building, with a lot of rooms. Different committees/subcommittees can have different hearings, on different subjects, at different times. (or even a bunch at the same time!)

They have obviously showed uninterest in the economy, so why not focus on other important matters like communist countries cheating against free world athletes in sports. ESPECIALLY when the US is the number one funder of WADA. So it is an economic issue for the US

I am not sure. I am a swimmer. And Michael Phelps is one of those greats positively impacted me. But in this case, I think he was used. Notice his speech are all claims, with Zero evidence? If the justice system works like this, we would all be in jails. Doping is a very difficult thing to fight off. Wada has been pretty strict. Remember Sun Yong? He was banned from competition for 5 years wasn't because he was doping, was because he didn't let the nurse keep his samples after finding out the nurse didn't have proper id! The ITA are an independent organization who are relatively newly formed. At this stage, they do not have the capacity to fully oversee testing across all sports while also ensuring a high level of integrity.
