Michael Rapaport sat down with VlaIn this VladTV exclusive, Micheal Rapaport talks about the Tribe Called Quest movie, how the film was made, and his friendship with Q-Tip. He also touches on Nas’ involvement with the film.
Although Rapaport highly respects Q-Tip and Tribe, he described the making of the documentary as difficult because they weren’t all on the same page. “...In regards to making the movie, I’ll say this we should have made the making of the movie a documentary…because it was nuts”, said Rapaport. “But we were all nuts because we believed in what we were doing.”
Rapaport is glad that the film is significant and that it leaves Tribe members (and their fans) with something after Phife’s passing. Overall, Micheal Rapaport explains how Hip Hop has a major influence on his everyday life. He even names his top five M.C.’s
Take a look at the interview above.

Tone Riggz i am an ultra Tribe fan I thought the doc could have been considerably better. It was mediocre at best. And that is a disservice to Tribe's legacy. The photography alone wasn't on par with their level of artistry. Just remember the photography and the creativity of their music videos. It should have been at least half of that quality at least.

No it wasn't! That documentary drop the ball ! You have ATCQ considered one of the most innovative groups in Hip Hop History, created some of the best music eve, and you spend almost zero time focusing on their music (or how it was created). Instead you choose to focus 98% of your time on the conflict within the group! The best scene in that weak documentary was when Q-tIP showed you what went into creating the beat for "Can I Kick It"! Outside of that scene, the entire film was trash!

Mike Rapp is one of the biggest white allies of hip hop and the culture. He's genuine and if you listen he knows his shit. I met him and we talked sports and music and everything in between and he's passionate about all this shit. You can't hate on him just cause he's white and a Jew. Dude grew up in the Bronx (I think) during the rise of the culture and was surrounded by it and just loves the purity of it.

Mtv Raps, the 80s,go back, and watching all the videos at that time,Hip Hop was like a big plate of nachos with hot cheese & halapinos every artist that came out was "crunchy",and had so much to prove east coast or West coast, the music was "fresh"& tight but ATCQ was one of the top groups late 80s-90s hands down, we needed more albums from " Phife", he could ride & flow through beats like a dalphin in water.
