AC VI trailer actually made me tried out this franchise. I've been trying AC III and AC IV. AC III is fun though I still need to get used to the clunky control. AC IV's control is a little bit more intuitive and I found myself gravitating more to it, though the missions definitely feels a bit too short. Hopefully, they release AC VI on PC soon, because AC IV especially was really finicky to get working on an emulator.
You definitely gotta play the un-numbered expansion titles. Armored Core Silent Line feels like it's the other half of Armored Core 3 and when you get all the parts and full upgrade OP-intensify in 3 you can transfer your save to Silent Line, Armored Core Last Raven is difficult but probably the best game in the series, and Armored Core For Answer is literally just Armored Core 4 but even better. For the controls, you can try to mess around with the in-game key-bindings to find something that works for you. For all the games up until Silent Line I move strafing to left and right on the d-pad, then move look controls to the face buttons, and my weapons, boost, and switching to the shoulders. It does mean I can't purge weapons in 3 and Silent Line though. From Armored Core Nexus onwards they give you full analog stick controls.
@@mallow2902 Yeah, the dpad movement and face buttons camera is by far the least brain-numbing control scheme for classic AC games. The default From Software scheme works great for games like King's Field and Echo Night, but it's really terrible for titles as fast-paced as Armored Core.
After awhile you'll get use to it unless you actually use claw technique wink wink. Armored core 2 is nice imo but the best would be last raven and following behind it would be silent line
To be fair to DXM it never claimed it wanted to be armored core but it was made by half the dev team because they were tired of doing nothing but the same game for a decade (souls titles). I'll give it some credit for at least trying to have a coherent story and certainly some of the best voice acting we've ever seen on an AC style game. Art style was nice too though the flight controls I will fully admit were janky and awkward. Still, as a gap filler between what we assumed was the end and the announcement of 6, it was at least something and possibly brought more people to the AC community who liked the formula. I think the best part of DXM though was the ost. Lot of good jams in there, namely Artist's theme.
First of all Did I ask? Second of all.. Jokes aside, I partly agree here. But it all boils down to “Better something, than nothing” One of the points that I took from DxM when I was rating it… was about its damage system. It’s all fine and dandy, tbh, I really liked the idea of breaking down parts of your/enemies AC. But, when you apply something like this to bosses of the DxM… it becomes pointless. I am talking specifically about other AC’s. The whole point of Armored Cores enemy design, that plays fair and you could also copy and use against them was lost. Last 4 pilots in the campaign were essentially bullet sponges. I’d rather say NO to such design. In AC4, FA, VD that I played recently, there wasn’t a single point of game, where I was fighting against man AC, but enemy got 8 times it’s HP above mine. It was just… disappointing.
I know this post and video are a year old, but I’m so glad this “AC dev team left to make DXM” myth is now dead. Only 4 people on the DXM team had AC credentials (and one of them was Kawamori, who’s an independent artist).
Daemon Ex Machina was actually pretty good imo. It played so much like AC4 and 4A that I was able to overlook the horrific characters and ridiculous story.
I decided to check out the entire franchise from watching the AC6 trailer, I will come back here after I'm done. (Already done with AC1 and PP; so far the video is accurate, AC1 was fun, PP was... rough, to say the least)
@Leo Jacobo I kinda regret playing it, I wouldn't say it's terrible, because the game knows exactly what it is and what it's trying to do, but a bunch of piloting tests and an arena mode are not very appealing to me.
I've been an Armored Core fan ever since I was a child. Kudos to you for making this video. Armored Core 2 and Armored Core 3 are my personal favorites!
Personally I have a friend that hadn't played AC before but he mained the shit out of DxM, and went into ACVI expecting more of the same but better. He dropped ACVI after Chapter 2 because he was having too much difficulty with the game and running meta or RU-vid guide builds just didn't work for him. This wasn't surprising to our friend group because he has a notorious skill issue with any game and can't progress far in if he can't ride entirely on stat numbers to carry him through any encounter. So take that however you will
Hey I was wondering how to get access to armored core 4, 5 and verdict day I only have a pc and xbox one so I just want to know if I have to hunt down a functioning Xbox 360 and then hunt down a physical copy of each game and does it apply to all the other armored core games before 6
Let’s just say…methods we use to get them aren’t that…good, in a way. If you want to play AC4/FA AND have a good time with other-I suggest you join Discord for Armored Core and doing a step by step guide there on how to get yourself a working ACFA on RPCS3. Or, if you want, 5/VD through Xenia. There are a lot of people playing often there and making matches almost every single day. For that you’d need RADMIN VPN.
yknow, i was telling myself that DxM wasnt soooo bad when i was playing, but as soon as i touched ACVI, i noticed at how bad DxM was, specifically the story and plot
DxM is mid at most its not great... well were you expecting for the only mecha title on the Switch? That time.... only time will tell how the Front Mission games "revival" will pan out....
