This Concert was 1983 in Dortmund, my hometown. It was a festival with many good Rockbands: Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Krokus, MSG, Quit Riot and more. 🤘 Thank you for posting this Masterpiece
Still in my mind ...Rock will never die...will be 4ever..and this line up was very awesome sorry for Ted McKenna who just passed away ( 19 Jan 2019)...RIP...Ted...
Excellent! Michael always seemed to put out even more than usual when in his homeland at that time. After all, when given the opportunity he left at UFO's request because nothing was happening there. I love the version I first heard on the VHS tape but this smokes.
i remember seeing this show live in 83. incredable player...i picked up the guitar because of that show and that particular way shenker performed this song...i have no words other than to say thank you shenker.
Your are correct in everything you say here. But to me that is what's great about hard rock and metal. It's so underated and ignored, it's like it just belongs to us. Do you really want the people who like " oops I did it again" showing up at these concerts? We know something they don't. Rock on!
Gary Barden tears this up.....so beautiful and soaring ummm....Michael is a genius...we covered this song although not as good but a good number of hot chicks always joins some crazy headbanging during the chorus!
Thats pretty damn fast solo. Michael would do well in these "notes per second" battles which I came across in the tube :) I almost can´t recognise individual notes from the beginning of that solo! But it has allways been the phrasing, vibrato and the sense of melody in Schenkers playing that made me huge impression. Great video!! Thanks for this.
Great - just great!! I´m in one of my nostalgic moods anyway (just listened to Scorpions Speedy is coming from Tokyo Tapes) and I really can´t put my finger on what makes these classics stand appart from today´s music - maybe it has got heart and authenticity? By the way - Gary Barden reminds me a bit of Joe Lynn Turner.
This is my favorite performance of this song from Michael, check the video response where I included Courvoisier Concerto before he goes into this song ,thnx for tuning in & comments
Uli Jon Roth and Michaël are the most prestigious hard rock guitarists of all time. Michaël is much more expressive and melodic than all the shredders of the 80's and already just 16 years old on the first scorpions album (1972) he beat the Page / Blackmore / Iommi. On stage in 1979 he played on scorpions pieces on lead guitar parts of Uli Roth in a masterly way.
I agree Schenker in on fire on this clip! Check this 1 out,it has courvosier Concerto at the begining: MICHAEL SCHENKER [ COURVOISIER/ WALK THE STAGE ] LIVE'83 Thnx for watching!
The reason is I don't have that intro, but I think you're talking about Courvosier Concerto,he played it before this song,but... I'll upload a different version next which I forgot to upload, thnx for watching & keep an eye open for that one!
I have uploaded 10 audio & live versions here including the original from MSG II,just go to my playlists & you'll find it all there! here's 1 of them, MICHAEL SCHENKER [ ON & ON ] [ IV ] LIVE VEGAS,2000 thnx for watching!
Know what burns me with deep hatred inside? This guitar God has been an influence in my life, my ins piration to bust my ass to death as a kid to afford my first flying V and break my hands and fingers. He has inspired many like Ritchie Faulkner. Yet he is not even a thought in the rrhof. Instead lame fucking black trash and other bull shit acts are. This man deserves to be in there. Michael Shenker for ever changed my life. Michael Shenker got me through my years serving my country in and out of the battle field over seas. During my hurting times Shenkers music has been there to keep me from going over the edge. Michael Shenket for ever.
