I have a ton of respect for this man as a person and musician. Followed him since 84' and the guy look younger than me at 67 (I'm 57) A lot of wisdom and luckily he went his own way on his journey. An artist and a dying breed sadly. Respect!

I absolutely love Michael Schenker's first solo album, Lost Horizons, Tales of Mystery etc.... It still inspires me today for melodic riffs, feel and expressive solos. His solos take you somewhere else and take you away from what is sometimes a crap reality of the modern-day. A mind-blowing album still after all these years. I would love to have a jam with him:-)

Michael Schenker and Ritchie Blackmore are the two greatest rock guitarists ever, and it's amazing how similar their attitudes are towards rock fame and stardom - neither one cares about it much, and they actually avoid it. Which is why Blackmore quit Deep Purple at the height of their fame, and Schenker quit UFO and then the Scorpions. Both are true artists who care only about their music, but neither one has received the credit they deserve.

Wow.... no one ever mentions these two in the same breath & I agree....my 2 fave guitarists..... you're spot on with your comments too & I love that about both..... The music itself is all Blackmore & Schenker care about; all the other bullshit they could care less about. Neither are gear heads; they know what works for them & they use it. I hope neither goes into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (shame), they certainly don't need that asskissing shit.

Albert Einstein played guitar? No he played violin , and was certainly aware of what was happening around the world, in scientific world and political events, all his senses were opened to other people.

Listen to UFO.. Albums 1974 to Strangers In The Night 1979.. A lot start of people know Michael for his electrical exploits. Take that along with his electrical instrumental albums and then a series that a lot of people don't even know about call thank you for albums worth of Michael with an acoustical guitar and no one else no vocals know anything just Michael and the instrument you listen to the four thank you albums and then tell me he's not Albert Einstein of guitar

Gotta love this man! I am now 64 years old. The day the' New' U.F.O. album came out [Already had One Hour Space Rock And the first one} My life changed forever. Phenomenon was the album. Doctor Doctor, Rock Bottom and Queen Of The Deep. were the songs!! The Fying V became my guitar of choice. That poster of Him [The classic live one with his V] adorned all my walls, My record store included] My holy Trinity Begins with Michael, Uli and Tony ! He looks like he is in his 40's but then so do I. Gotta love that indoor living baby. i do the same things with the tape recorder as he does. That moment before sleep... Will I get up and hum it into the tape machine?? Or lose one of my best songs forever?? You Go Michael. Gotta love this man!!

There is a reason Michael Schenker is known as a rock n' roll guitar legend why?...because he has the innate sense to draw from a place of creativity that is within, creativity can come from many places rather than just from other human beings, it can come from dreams,from nature, from ones own perspective,ones own imagination,that is one thing among many things that separates Michael Schenker from regular guitar players, he has the ability to innovate, to invent, even up to the point of the way he taught himself to hold his Flying V in a way that is totally unique unto itself, that is what geniuses do.Imagine and then create that which is imagined.He is not! from the school of "monkey see monkey do". Michael Schenker is... a true original..(seems some have a hard time grasping that).

I love Michaels perspective on things. I know he's been through a lot of personal problems in the past, but he's re-emerged as a happier, wiser person and it's inspiring to see that.

He is all about himself, and I don't like it about him. I wanted this, I wanted that, I didn't want pressure.. In the end he chose the easy and selfish way. I mean, come on, singers like Klaus are once in a lifetime, you can't just leave people like him behind, you've got to stick to them and appreciate them. Rudy is very talented song-writer, was it really so difficult to find compromises with your own brother and outstanding musician? How about dedication and effort instead of "it's easier for me this way"? Both Michael and Scorpions would have benefitted if Michael could tame his self-entitlement. I could say the same about Ulrich Roth as well

The flying v is not great for playing when you are sitting on a chair. He is right, when you are standing up nothing beats a classic flying v. Plus its lighter than most of the guitars.

He's as into himself as Malmsteen.😅 Great talent, though. True artists from way back in history are all sort of like this.

He rarely mentions his born-again Christian epiphany in the United states. Many Rock musicians are scared to mention their conversion to Jesus Christ as it can alienate their fans. Note his theological terminology here he just can't help it lol. Blessings from Scotland.

I don't agree with his idea of purety or pureness. When he says he stopped listening to other musicians at the age of 17, I think it's like an cultural see intellectual suicide, for me. There's a subtle difference between copy and inspiration. The more different music and musicians you listen to the more diversified and rich your musical culture will be. If you focus only on one type of music and only one musician, it's clear you'll just be a clone of that musician. Pureness, in music as in all artistic expressions, is a utopia, You can't start from zero. You need a sparkle to awake your creativity. Michael stopped listening to the world creation at 17, cause he thought he had listened enough. But a musician can't help listening to other music, it's the source where he draws his notes, his melodies, the air he breathes. Inspiration is so vital for a creator. he may believe he has music in him, but this is not "HIS" music, it's th living music of what his mother sung to him in her belly, then when she wanted make him sleep, then the music of life around him, which made him and his brother make a group. You can't escape from that heritage. I'm a musician myself, and I spend my time listening to unknown music and musicians from all over the world, especially ethnical traditional music and mix of different cultures. Rightly to avoid copying standards of music busyness. I can't believe that Michael Schenker would be so stupid to ignore that.

@gillesbourgeois5348
@gillesbourgeois5348 5 лет назад
@@arnoldzifflebluesguitar prolific for himself surely. His style didn't evolute much since he retired from the machine as he says. The "démarche" is respectable but the goal seems not. Purity leads to musical austracism, a kind of fundamentalism. Hé consider himself like a spring of inspiration... for himself ? ? No sense!! inspiration comes from outside, what uou hear what you see etc

That explanation is the meanderings of someone who has no idea.. he has not listen to anyone else or anybody's music for over 30 years because that way he cannot copy anyone Michael is the greatest guitarist who ever lived your thoughts are not even close
