I remember Hamilton's debut year very well. The kid came in with a lot of hype and he paid all that hype off. Had an amazing rookie season with Fernando Alonso (!!!) as his team mate and still impressed. He even won the whole damn thing in merely his second year. Now he's won 6, almost 7 and with at least 3 of those vs. other world champions. People also love to say that Rosberg beat him once, while Hamilton has also beaten him in the years before that while they were both at Mercedes. Lewis beat Rosberg twice. Rosberg once and retired. It's still 2-1 between them. 2007: rookie year, team mate Fernando Alonso, a world champion. Lost the WDC on 1 point difference towards Kimi. 2008: won the WDC before Massa and Kimi, beating at least a world champion in a fast car. 2009, 10, 11, 12: : the beginning of the end for Mclaren. Hamilton finished merely 4th and 5th in the WDC BUT still managed to get podiums and win races with a lesser Mclaren. That would be like winning races with a current day midtable team while Red Bull was super dominant in those years and Vettel won his 4 WDC's around that time. 2013: people call Hamilton insane for leaving Mclaren for Mercedes. Niki Lauda, the legend himself picks Hamilton because he wants the best driver in his team that he aims to build to become the best and Hamilton also helps with building that team. 2014: Hamilton wins vs. Rosberg, Vettel still with Red Bull after the 4 WDC's. 2015: Hamilton wins vs. Rosberg, Vettel leaves Redd Bull for Ferrari. 2016: Rosberg wins vs. Hamilton. 5 points difference. One technical DNF for Hamilton and the one legendary crash with Rosberg. 2017, 18, 19: consistently dominant. Wins it all in the most dominant the Mercedes car has ever been. Ferrari had a good run early on in these years. In 1 of them Vettel was actually leading the WDC until after the summer break. He managed to ruin his own season with random spins and Hamilton took the lead over. Ferrari also managed to get more performance out of their engine but still managed to fumble it with personal mistakes from Vettel and terrible strategy. Towards the end of these years Mercedes just totally dominated them. 2020: his likely 7th WDC, while a lot of people are still doubting him. After dominating in karting with a second hand broken kart, where his father taught him how to brake late. Even after beating world champions or performing incredibly well in lesser cars, like the Mclaren post top years. He's been consistent for over 13 years. That's a Messi/Ronaldo level athlete, while breaking record after record. The guy will go into F1 history books as one of the legends of the sport. If that makes you angry for some reason, then it's a personal problem. Just try to detract from his accomplishments, facts are facts.

Lewis will retire with 8 championships minimum, probably more unless a team finds a "double diffuser" type loophole in the 2022 regs and exploits the hell out of it. Either way he is one of the great greats, but you cant compare eras. Respect to both Michael and Lewis.

Consistency and the ability to just show up with a great performance on demand has always been Hamilton's greatest strength.

Schumi was the GOAT back then, impressive how he noticed Lewis so early. He is consistent now, but to me it's not possible conparing Lewis with Schumacher.
