It was just a futile attempt by Biden's campaign to try to win some last minute votes by trying to pander to uniformed voters. Biden's administration and Democrats don't really want any of that, otherwise it would have happened at least a couple years ago. All it did was give Biden supporters another talking point but not really swaying a significant amount of people towards their campaign. Most Biden supporters do not support such a bill so it's really just hypocritical and incredulous besides.

In 1994, Ukraine agreed to transfer there nuclear weapons to Russia for destruction and became a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, in exchange for assurances from Russia, the United States and United Kingdom to respect the Ukrainian independence and sovereignty in the existing borders. Only Russia has broken the agreement because Putin was losing support in Russia and he now whips up patriotism over his self-imposed war because Putin controls all the media Russians get to hear.

I'm no fan of Mike Johnson or his policies. However, standing up and doing what's right in the face of losing the gavel is exactly the kind of behavior we should be encouraging. Democrats absolutely need to protect Johnson's speakership. What better way to show the American people that you are willing to put people above politics?

Doing what's right is forcing Ukraine to the peace table. Not extending this useless conflict for 20 years like Afghanistan costing trillions. Russia will never agree to peace terms until Ukraine declares neutrality and hands over Novorossiya (the heavy ethnic Russian areas. Sure Russia was wrong to illegal invade. But Ukraine also overthrew their democratically elected President Yanukovych by insurrection turned coup on Feb 21st 2014. So what is it. Are insurrections bad or good. I want a standard.

Totally agree chriswoo2289. Never thought Johnson would do anything to further Bidens policies but he surprised me. This will probably cost him the speakership, but considering another Republican announced his exit yesterday, it puts us closer to Democrats retaking the House. Which is good for America.

Putin wants to put the old Russian Empire back together; it's the one justification that unites all his actions over the past 20 years. He's not going to quit until he controls all of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, all 3 Baltic states, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, at least half of German (despite all those last ones already being in NATO, which is why Putin would love for Trump to be president again; Trump has already signaled he won't get in the way if he has control again). They didn't overthrow anything. Yanukovych resigned and ran away to avoid prosecution for the corruption and bribes he'd been charged with. Seriously, if you're going just to thow about propaganda from the Kremlin, read the room. Outside of the MAGAs, people in here can actually read and have attention spans longer than a gnat.

I think what is being overlooked here when considering Johnsons sudden 'change of heart' is he has been privy to intel in the past several days provided by the Administration and DOD. And this shows in the starkest terms the deterioration in Ukraine's battlefield situation and ability to fend off a rejuvenated Russian effort, particularly in the air war. In the cold light of day he has come to the rapid realisation that his name will be all over a failure to support resulting in a potentially terminal war fighting reversal. Nothing focuses the mind like 'forever' reputational damage for a politician. Speakership? What speakership????
