Discovered their music some 20 years ago and been a fan ever since... Seen them live in 2005 and it was great. Always appreciated Michael as a great person and performer and REM definitely influenced my life. Thanks
I didnt know anything about his sexuality, but have listened to him for decades. I like him more (actually first interview ive probably seen). Very geniune. Great music.
When I see later interviews like this one, there’s always the mental match-up with earlier Stipe interviews in which he seemed reluctant to stay on topic. In one, he suddenly departed from the interview topic to suggest that there should be a theme park where people could go in and climb trees instead of going on roller coasters. Whether that approach had anything to do with his sexuality is beyond me, but in any case it’s good to see an interview like this in which he seems to be more comfortable with himself. He’s a very bright and thoughtful man, and he’s got a lot to contribute with his newfound confidence.
Right. It never affects me what a person’s preference is. If they can entertain me or just be a downright decent person, they deserve that same respect regardless of what they prefer.
I viewed your video partly by looking.. Partly by listening Mr. MS. Your English is very clear and understoodable. Your voice I would recognize every where. I like your openess to speak about your sexusality.. It is important since REM has so many fans around the world. Being hetrosexsual.. Staright.. I just love and enjoy your songs without no connection to sexusality.. I do not connect the Music or lyrics with sexusality.. For me personally the sound of it.. Is very natural.
