I hav admired your unique one handed montuno pattern so you can solo in the other hand what an amazing innovation hope you learn more about this my teacher showed me this rare ability from you his name is Otmaro Ruiz
I have seen a few "dislikes" on the comments...I too , have been trying to find a way to "not like " this, however Michel has most likely played Steps at so many levels that he has earned the privilege to play the absolute shit out of it!! I consider the piece a learning experience and a true challenge in as far as how quick one can think and create a non-redundant solo over multiple key changes that happen every 2 beats!
He is essentially playing only for true aficionados or musicians who know and understand this tune. Many will find nothing of interest. I am usually also not impressed "well at least just the technique dude", but this is much more than just his hands as fast as he can over Giant Steps, He is playing that song, from the heart, and owning it, making love to it, mastering it.
Your nervous system is nervous because you can't hear it or process the information. Soul . blah. Just means YOU can't feel it. your soul simply can't hear or think as fast as Camilo's . go practice this song for 6 months like I have, get inside the changes, try to play even some of what he#s doing. , understand and hear what he is playing, and your soul will hear his soul speaking to you. your soul will be ableto perceive what he is saying and accomplishing. it's not just technique, the musical message encoded is simply beyond you at the moment.
Why don't you take a crack at it Mozart (Kirk Ampong). It shows your lack of musical knowledge. Maybe you can bring Coltrane back from the grave so that he can put some emotions to it for you.
Ikr he didn't play a single rest, Evans could move you with 1 chord, music from the soul, that's jazz, not this biridbidbdrbidbridbribdirbdirbdirbdirbdirbirbibriribdibribi bullshit.
