I felt like, a lot of fans still didnt know much about the reason behind their breakup, so here's a little tee. Clips are from Hey Qween, and audio from Rupaul and Michelle's podcast "What's the tee" eps. 6.
they've both said that it was becoming a bad relationship and it couldn't function as a relationship anymore. so it seems like it was the best decision for everyone. and it's long done now and I'm glad they're still great friends
@@morganpumpkineater69 No? if that happened they would not be friends. Plus there is absolutely no proof or news about this happening. Don't spread false information.
People calling Sharon bitter...what?! When she was on Ru season 4 she seemed genuinely guilty to have made it over Alaska. Then on season 5 Alaska admitted several times that she was jealous of Sharon's success. Talk about adding 2 and 2 and getting 7...
Andrew Mark And also Sharon had to do that challenge with the guy and dance with him and she said she felt bad and when alaska got in the show she just tongue kissed detox when they did sharon and phi phi fight I liked them together tho
Andrew Mark sharon got bitter once the show ended and alaska got bigger than her. yes alaska was jealous that sharon got onto the show but i would be too if i auditioned for a show for 4 years while my boyfriend constantly thought it was stupid. then that same boyfriend tried out for the show once on a whim and got on. alaska wouldnt be human if she werent jealous. that being said, in the end alaska still supported sharon through it all like she said in the show
Ok I have to say it. Sharon opened the door for every Drag Queen who is different who won Drag Race. Without her there would not have been a Jinx, Bob, Sasha, or even an Alaska to have win. The first three winners were pageant glamour queens. Sharon was the first to do a lot of things. Respect that. Alaska is great don't get me wrong but saying Sharon isn't above or as talented is incorrect.
Your Average Patriotic God Loving American Raja is not a pageant Queen. She could be. I'm sure she can do anything she's that amazing. Raja is High Fashion at it's best. Runway. Photos. That walk c'mon. However she is polished. My comment was regarding the Different Queen. She is the original Different Queen. Spitting blood from her mouth, Crazy contacts, etc. She wasn't the prettiest in her season but she had talent.
Well given the fact that Sharon and Alaska were part of the same drag troop during their time in Pittsburg, it's safe to say that Sharon didn't open the door. She just went first, which doesn't make her as talented as Alaska. Alaska has a wider range of skill than Sharon, which I think is safe to say. Shat Sharon is good at is awesome, but Alaska can do and has done the same thing. Range doesn't equal talent but it sure doesn't hurt.
I think Michelle acts more like a mom to the queens and she actually cares more than Rupaul does... For Rupaul is just business and money and blocking queens that call her out but Michelle actually gets involved and is a friend to them.
Morgan Olfursson wtf, she has a amazing motherly personality. She is really positive and do really have a personality. Have you watch something of her? I guess not. And why the heck do you want her to be hit by a bus. All the drag queens see her as a mother and love her so much, so why do you want to take that away from them. Unnecessary comment.
Can I be honest? The Hey Qween guy is NOT a good host. The whole point of being a host is you draw out conversation from the other person, and he literally just says how they're feeling when THEY should be speaking. Silence makes people talk, and he just loves the sound of his own voice. He literally asks Alaska a question and then speaks for half a fucking minute afterward. Bad.
Wtf in some pics they look like straight up greaser boyfriends nd in others they look like red carpet glam goddesses ugh theyre amazing i love them so much
Comaful They both cheated. Technically Sharon cheated first, but both have said that wasn’t their main issue and it isn’t something anyone should throw in the other person’s face
In terms of their drag I feel like Alaska has this massive meta concept that is self referential and so layered in irony it's hard to tell whether it's fake or funny. Almost like she had to be the runner up in season 5 in order to win later, because her concept is herself and her relationship with her fame lust if that makes sense. And then Sharon has this incredible vision of a slasher fantasy that is youth, sex, murder and revenge... They're both very talented but Sharon is in more of a traditional and accessible drag way whereas Alaska is kind of more of a concept artist where her concepts are her drag story???? If that makes sense? That's how I'm seeing it. So Alaska can seem muddy and unpolished versus Sharon but for someone who knows drag and knows Alaska once already, you see the self referentialism of doubled narcissism and self parody. Her looks are about herself. So I think they're both superstars just in different flavours
I like both of them but I wouldn't call Alaska meta. They both make a lot of references in their work. But the references that Alaska makes are more related to drag race and her time on it which is smart because but that's what fans know and like but it's not quite that high concept. Sharon references her relationship with fame a lot too but I don't get half of Sharon references because it's mostly older movies or things that most drag race fans are not familiar with including me.
You put into words what I have thought about Alaska but failed to put together. It makes SO much sense that she won all stars, because a ton of her looks and references were of herself (which is what most Allstars do nowadays) and she was brilliant in doing that. All stars was definitely the format for her to win.
That’s always what she sounds like. She was a heavy drug user for a while so that can change some things. And honestly, her voice is more animated and quick paced here than it was on all stars.
@@pattyprolapse I agree to some extent but you can’t say that Sharon shouldn’t be held accountable because the parents didn’t notice but also you don’t monitor your kid 24/7 my parents do go thru my phone daily and me and my brother often go places alone where we could be vulnerable to these types of things so as a parent you can’t spit everything especially if your child isn’t telling you everything and if they still haven’t told their parents they wouldn’t know cause they are posting as a fake name and also jinx, dela, Alaska and William I think addressed these and was able to disprove them where Sharon wasn’t and didn’t
Unfortunately these comments were posted even after everything came out, it’s been a known thing it isn’t new the fans simply don’t care about what she did i have been trying to raise awareness about her EXTREMELY disturbing behavior for years since 2017 when the first victim came out with their story on drag race Reddit and it became more like a hot gossip to the fans than a crime that should be talked about seriously, the way the community handled that was truly embarrassing they gossiped about it like it’s some silly drag tea for two days and forgot about it .
Before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm a huge Alaska fan. Sharon I can take or leave. That being said, most of your arguments are mute. They broke up because Alaska cheated on Sharon. Alaska has said that in her interviews. Hell, it was in her song "The T"! So quit with the he said she saids. They had problems like anyone else. But ultimately Alaska's infidelity broke them up. Honestly people, do your research before leaving RU-vid comments. You sound like a bunch of teenage drama queens!
the thing is when a realtionship works and none of the people involved are generally unfaithful, they dont feel the nead to cheat. so for alaska to cheat, im pretty sure the relationship was already damaged, and while im sure it was a factor, i really dont think it was the reason.
I really like Michelle Visage, I am a good bit older than she is but it seems that we lived similar lives (mine wasn't quite so stellar but it had it's moments lol!) I had a whole network of wonderful gay friends since my teens and they taught me about style, incisive reading, makeup, clothing, men and how to keep them....I think I would have really liked her had I not lived in Europe but I enjoy listening to her 'take' on things and it's very similar to mine. She's a lovely warm, gorgeous woman and it must be such a blessing for young Queens to have Michelle's support and input. xx
sharon& alaska, are both amazing& both superstars & i believe they truly loved each other but their relationship was toxic filled with party's drugs& alcohol,& insecuritys with each other,i think they needed too separate in order too allow each others star too shine,& too be able too actually appreciate& respect each other alaska is so much better sober omg she's a superstar all stars was proof of what sobriety & letting the relationship go did for her ,i love them both but apart from each other.
Then tell that to Johnny McGovern, the host of the show. This is NOT on his channel, so your comment is going to the person who cobbled together these interviews, not to the host who talks over all his guests.
I agree with Michelle 100% - Alaska is a SUPERSTAR! Nothing but love & support to this magical creature. And anyone calling Alaska a snake - with no irony or humor - doesn't know her.
I love Drag Race and queer art & culture, but what these young people have been brought to believe about competition, achievement, and personal fulfillment is eating them. It is not "better" if "each achieves her full potential" by herself, and it cannot be an either/or situation caring for others & caring for yourself. What we are watching here is not "greatness" but hyperlative maximization of output not for the grrls themselves, nor for their admirers, but for commerce. That is (self-)exploitation and not queer emancipation. In fact it is the diametrical the opposite.
It seems that they are being adults about it, so that's awesome. I will confess though I just really can't stand Alaska's voice. It's not her fault or anything but her meter and pitch is just not my fave.
The universe just spoke to me. I was thinking about my deceist husbad who was abusive. Just before viewing this video. Not sure what it means other than, like Tina Turner and Alaska before me, maybe this is my time to shine. And I need to start painting again. And something positive and wonderful will come out of it.
I love alaska but sometimes when she's around Sharon or someone is asking her about Sharon she is always not comfortable and makes weird face express .... Like i totally understand why because it's weird to talk about your ex but come on they always say that they are bff ! This is not how bff normally act with each other but again i understand why so yeah .
Yeah they didn't talk for months after the break up... Which I think is healthy enough. You shouldnt force a friendsship with your ex right after a break up. Make it happen naturally in time. I do think they are on great terms now, though. It's been quite a while... But I'm sure they will always have a special place in their heart for each other. I mean, they saw the beauty in each other before the rest of the world did.
Their relationship is private that's why she's uncomfortable, she may be famous but only human. They were not BFF, but watch more resent things with them they are totally cool and really friendly to each other.
Both a set of iconic Queens. Especially Sharon, she did indeed pave the way for the other quirky, odd queen's that came along after her success. However, I loved Alaska on her season and All Stars 2.
I know that you guys love Sharon, I get it, but I LIVE for Alaska, I love her humor, her personalitty, her persona, girl Alaska is my favorite drag ever,
Just because alaska felt bad in the relationship does not mean that it's Sharon's fault? I get that it was hard for her and that she didn't want to be in the relationship but just because one is hurting, doesn't mean it's the others fault. Sharon is an amazing talent and it shouldn't be viewed as a bad thing that she wants to be a big star, that's what all drag queens want
Not all the great loves of our life will be a healthy relationship for both parties. Some loves are as powerful as they are ultimately, and destructively, unhealthy. Unfortunately, they sometimes reach a place where for you to really survive and thrive, you have to choose you over the relationship, and part ways. That doesn’t mean they weren’t incredible loves, maybe the greatest of your life up until that time; it doesn’t mean that love was any less real or less powerful, or any less filled with meaning and incredible times, or that you won’t always love them and share what I call “the secret knowledge” (the stuff you know about each other, understand about each other, went through together, that forever and ever only you two will ever be inside of and know intricately) with them. But above all, it doesn’t mean it also won’t hurt like a mutha fucka when it ends and you both have to move on. Which you will have to do, eventually, like it or not.
Courtney Ayers Alcohol and coke for sure but a little bit of everything, and a lot of people that love Sharon refuse to admit it but Sharon was a huge enabler and was always strung out at her shows
It's VERY difficult too have two queens in a relationship. Sure it may sound good on paper but there WILL BE COMPETITION...!!! That's just a no brainer there. It's for the best that they split. But i do love Sharon Needles glad for Alaska and that she got clean. But i do feel that Sharon is more talented in my humble opinion.
Cant we just agree that it wasn’t a healthy relationship, that both of them weren’t compatible in that way? I don’t think that either of them did worse than the other, they both did shitty things to eachother, and thank god they broke it off.
Shes so much bigger then her now. Well worth it. I think shes just more likeable and relatable to more people. I like sharon needles....but she gives me goth metal head subculture
