I was 9 year old son of a Mexican immigrant and a victim to racist bullies everyday when he won. I remember crying my eyes at the tv screen. He gave me hope. He told me everything they said to me was a lie. He told me I could rise above them all. I know when I cast my vote in November, a 9 year old Mexican kid will be crying at the TV screen knowing his parents will be safe. I know a white family with a trans kid will be crying at the tv screen knowing they will be safe. I know a black girl that gets underestimated and picked on is going to cry at the tv screen, because she’ll know she can rise above all her doubters and achieve anything she wants. I know every kid will feel that. That’s what this about. Our future. We’re not going back.

I'm a Korean. I envy Americans that they had a true, unprecedented leader and the first lady many years ago. And I still feel the same thing watching these speeches. I can feel both of them truly care about their citizens. Though not an american, what they say here make me burst into tears not only because they are good speakers but they say from the bottom of their heart with sincerity. I really wish my country Korea also had a real leader, set aside the first lady. Thinking of our own leader now, I'm totally ashamed. I really hope oneday God will also bless Korea.

I have no skin in the game as a non-US citizen and an observer of American politics, who is solidly moderate. But, I can see why Obama won two terms and even states like Iowa. He advocates for respecting your opponents and being receptive to voters with conservative views. I can see small town conservative folks voting for him or at least not voting against him, because he talks about them with genuine respect and a statesman like demeanor. Say what you want about the man and his politics, but he was and is a striking statesman who acts as a glue in these divided times.

When Obama first won in 2008, I was overjoyed because I could look my nephews in the eye and tell them honestly, as Latino males, that they could aspire to be President someday. Now, nearly 2 decades later, I hope to soon be able to tell my nieces the same thing. 💙

I think she finally released a bit of what she has been holding in for so long. We all knew she detests him, but tonight she gently ate him up with class. She’s always been a great speaker and really connects with people. If you have time, go find the video of her final act as First Lady when she presided over a Teacher’s Association ceremony. The tears of those women always brings me to teats as well. It really brought home for me that there are millions of Americans that love this woman.
I will never EVER forget how hopeful it felt when Obama was running for his first term as POTUS. I knocked on doors, made calls & beat the streets for him. What a time to be alive it was! What a man & an orator.
